View Full Version : Anti-Cena fans ejected from Unforgiven

During the John Cena vs. Edge match at Unforgiven, there was a point early in the match, after Cena crotched Edge on the top rope, that Cena went outside to get a table. I noted in my coverage that "Some woman in the front row was cursing Cena out, and it looked like a referee told her to stop." I'm not sure why it stood out to me at the time, other than the fact that the woman was pretty loud.

Then I received the following email from Jean-Francois Trudel, who attended the show, for our feedback section at PWInsiderXtra.com.

Good evening to all of you,

I have been a wrestling fans for numerous years and I must say that I have seen lots of highs (as well as lows) from WWE product lately. I have attended 8 of the 11 WWE PPV's this year, so I consider myself a loyal fan who knows the WWE product quite well. One of the lows I would like to mention happened tonight at Unforgiven during the TLC match during John Cena and Edge.

I witnessed an incident tonight that completely tore me apart. Two female fans sitting in the front row got thrown out of the building for "apparently" spitting on John Cena. Being sat in the same section as them, that could not be further from the truth.

Cena came out of the ring to grab a ladder and the two fans stood up to express their dislike for him (as I can totally relate). The referee ran up to them to tell them to stop spitting at Cena, and the security guard proceeded to have them ejected from the building.

I would like to go on record to say that no spitting was involved in the whole incident and the WWE security guard was totally out of line for taking the measures he took. From an outside point of view, I really feel sorry for those two fans because I have seen both of them at numerous shows that I have attended and have never been a problem before ..... why start now ???

WWE needs to understand that certain characters may not be as well liked as others but protecting them like they are worth gold is not appropriate. If fans cannot express what they feel (without any spitting involved .... as not to get wrong ideas), where does that leave us???

A WWE Fan that has lost lots of respect for wrestling tonight.

After reading this email, I went back and checked the tape. Sure enough, when Cena is at ringside, the female fans (one with red hair, one wearing an Edge shirt) are obviously voicing their displeasure at him (I think one may have dropped an F-Bomb). At no point did either of them appear to spit at Cena, but you can definitely see the referee approaching them. A few moments later, one of them is apparently called into the aisle, and shortly after that (following the powerbomb in the corner spot), they can be seen getting their belongings and leaving ringside.

If anyone else at the show was present for this incident, please drop me a line at BuckWrestling@aol.com.

Yeah cause spitting a person is ok if you don't like him. Wow, that's real mature.

I don't care if John Cena sucked so much, my IQ went down every time I saw him. There is no, I repeat no, reason to fucking spit on a person. Even the apperence of spitting should be taken seriouslly and the people doing it should be thrown out.

It said that they did not spit on Cena.

Yeah, but none of us saw Cena getting spit on. And if a fan that was there saw it and said that it didn't happen. Then who are we to judge?

Here's another report I found funny.

There was a huge delay in letting fans in before the event as there were officials checking and taking signs. As I waited my turn I glanced in the trash housing all the taken signs. Every one of them was anti-Cena. Obviously a few anti-Cena signs made it in but at the Union Street entrance I think every one of them was confiscated

Thats the problem is you are judging. A ref and a security guard see the spit. One fan says he didn't. I have a hard time believing that Someone would eject someone when he didn't see what happened. Maybe the fan didn't have a good vantage point? Point is, just because he didn't see it, doesn't mean it didn't take place, and even if it did, one guy telling me this happened isn't enough for me to get bent out of shape about, for all I know this didn't even take place. And if they did spit on him, they should have been ejected.

Even if the fans didn't spit on Cena.....why the hell would a ref come over to tell them to stop spitting on Cena? I really don't care if this fan didn't see the spit. Apperently an offical saw it. And then he did his job.

I'm really getting sick of the treatment some fans give John Cena. It's ok to chant against him, it's ok to boo him. Hell, it's ok to tell him he sucks to his face. But when you cross that line.....it's time to revaluate what you're product is.

Look at the other reports on the incident, they've all backed up the fact that they saw what went down and the women didn't spit.

And I'm sure that's not the first time someone's been kicked out of an event for being falsely accused of something.

How do you know that the ref didn't just make a bad call? I mean the ref was suppose to be watching over the match, not the fan and he thought he saw the woman spit towards Cena when in reality, she didn't.

Refs are human, too.

That's the thing. Apparently, it's not okay to boo him, and it's not okay to chant against him. I mean, for fuck's sake, this was marketed as "Edge's home town", and a "hostile territory" for John Cena. A couple of WOMEN curse at him, and that's too over the line? That's gotta do wonders for Cena's image.

I dunno, I'm skeptical. Of course there's more than one side to every story, but I think the truth is somewhere in between as opposed to what this 'fan' is claiming.

Kane Knight

I agree with both sides. There are lines you don't cross. You don't cross the barricades, period. Whether it's spit or a fist, you don't do that to a wrestler. However, when I read the links, and saw several people insist it didn't happen, I considered the statement to be a hypothetical statement (And ran wth the slobberknocker jokes). The point is true, but it appears to be moot. Now, I don't know for sure. We don't know for sure. I mean, eyewitness fans can be wrong, even if they outnumber the ref and security guy. However, I'm betting this is bullshit, and the real reason was their hostility.

WWE edits out the hostile crowds quite often, and they do take away anti-Cena signs. I wouldn't be surprised if they did that last night, even in the so-called "Hostile Territory." It's easier to believe the eyewitnesses with everything in mind.

Yea, if the ref thought that they spit on Cena, there is a reason, I don't care what any report says. Refs make mistakes, but they don't confuse wide mouth yelling with spitting. Anyhoo, Cena should be used to being shit on by now, and if I was a wrestler and some bitches were yelling at me, I would smile and say go fuck yourself you whore. And if I was spit on I may have hauled off and choked the bitch. Of course, if Cena hit her, he would not have made it out of the building because the fans would have rioted like dumbasses.

What i find is wrong about this is that this takes away the freedom of the fans to express themselves. They pay for the tickets, they can say what they fucking like as far as i'm concerned. I don't believe they did spit on Cena, but were probably going a bit OTT, however they payed to go, there so its their right to be as loud as they want. Taking away signs is one thing, but ejecting fans from the show they payed to see is on a whole different level imo. It's like ejecting away fans at a football game cause they hate the home team.

If they're going down this route now why don't the WWE just eject every anti cena fan? Oh yeah, cause then there would be no one left....

They should sell tickets by who they're fans of and not.

Cena fans get in for like $5, hard camera side and anti-Cena fans get in for $750, non-camera side behind bullet/sound proof glass.

I wonder if any fan has been smart enough to think to bring a "i LOve CenA" sign and a marker, then once entrance is gained write "Cena fucking sucks on it" and run into the ring. then again if they are watching cena in the first place, they are probably not smart enough. Nevermind.
