Next week SmackDown! is in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Am I the only one anticipating the return of Brent Albright? Just don't call him "Gunner Scott" this time. Albright has so much wrestling talent, it's not funny. Anyway, what match could they possibly get this guy into by No Mercy? How about a match with Chris Benoit? The Rabid Wolverine should be ready to return, and all you need to do is have Albright face some random heel on SmackDown! this week (I'm thinking Jamie Noble, actually), which leads to Albright challenging his mentor to a match at No Mercy. He wants Chris Benoit's answer the following week.
That should boost viewers for the following week, and get more people interested in No Mercy. It's not a "main event match" per se, but they already have enough of them. Time to start building the middle of the show.
Alternatively, they could have Brent Albright wrestle Chris Benoit the following week on SmackDown!, but have it end when Elijah Burke and Sylvester Terkay attack Benoit and Albright, and then we get a tag team match confirmed for No Mercy.
Next week is also the confirmed debut of Jimmy Wang (why couldn't they have made it "Wayne"?) Yang. I'd have him win the WWE Cruiserweight Championship from Gregory Helms. Have Matt Hardy cost Helms the match, which leads to Hardy vs. Helms at No Mercy, and Yang can defend the Cruiserweight Title against the undefeated Miz. Yang retains the title against Miz with the Yang Time (ending his undefeated streak, and continuing to put over the character). Hardy beats Kennedy for the United States Title on SmackDown! either this week, or the week after, and their match is for the United States Championship. Hardy beats Helms when Jeff Hardy distracts Helms, who is going for the Overcast/Blockbuster from the top rope (Helms works Hardy's neck during the match, which makes sense, due to Helms' large neckbreaker-type moveset, maybe even tease a Vertebreaker at one point), which allows Matt Hardy to hit a Twist of Fate off the top rope for the pin. If you're going to do a Hardy Boyz reunion, you may as well do it in North Carolina.
Speaking of tag teams, there is the WWE Tag Team Championship situation to consider. They'll probably have Kendrick & London face The Gymini or Burke & Terke, but they can do better. I'd have KC James & Idol Stevens point out that by modern wrestling standards, they are undefeated. Having yet to be pinned, or forced to submit, KC James & Idol Stevens are confirmed to face London & Kendrick in a match at No Mercy, for the WWE Tag Team Championship. It has become apparent to me that there are no "Street Fight" matches on the show. They may as well give it to their Tag Team Title program: Make it a "No Holds Barred Tag Team Match".
Anyway, at No Mercy, we get the usual stuff from these four great performers (or three great, and one good, I'm still uncertain about KC James), but as soon as London & Kendrick begin to battle back, Stevens and James use steel chairs to put them back down. Ashley Massaro brawls with Michelle McCool at ringside, which distracts the challengers long enough for London & Kendrick to use the steel chairs against Stevens and James, and then get out some ladders to battle the heels. It can be used to build to a TLC Match between London & Kendrick, The Teacher's Pets, The Pit Bulls and The Hardy Boyz. That would simply be awesome. Kendrick & London manage to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship here with a roll-up on KC James. Idol Stevens shoves KC James after the match, and James shoves back. The two then hug.
The only other match I'd add to the card is Sir William Regal vs. Vito in a match where Vito must were "conventional attire". Vito wins the match, proves to himself he doesn't need a dress, and then goes on to become a serious singles wrestler, instead of the comedy act he is now.
So yeah, my No Mercy card would be:
-King Booker vs. Bobby Lashley for the World Heavyweight Championship
-Batista vs. Finlay
-Chavo Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio in a Steel Cage Match
-The Undertaker vs. Ken Kennedy
-Brent Albright vs. Chris Benoit
-Sir William Regal vs. Vito
-Jimmy Wang Yang vs. Mike Mizanin for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship
-Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. KC James & Idol Stevens in a No Holds Barred Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship
-Matt Hardy vs. Gregory Helms for the WWE United States Championship
They can fit that into about two hours, which leaves an hour of shenanigans, Tatanka talking about how he loves his North Carolina tribe, The Pit Bulls talking about wanting the WWE Tag Team Titles, MVP talking to Long, etc. SmackDown! PPVs should reflect SmackDown!, and the blue show does tend to have a lot of wrestling compared to RAW and ECW. I think they could pull this off.
