The 80s brought all the territories together into two big names.
The 90s saw those two names fight it out and a third promotion almost reach their height.
the 00's so far is one big company taking over the rest and a few smaller promotions that may somehow offer competition.
what will the next ten years bring?
Will TNA take over? will WWE stomp down everyone? WIll NWA and territories come back?
What do you think the NExt ten years hold for the WWE, TNA, and the rest of the industry?
CZW and sick nick mondo may be the next WWF and Hogan! :naughty:

From the way things are looking now, I'd say there's going to be alot more televised wrestling promotions popping up here and there. I can't imagine any of them being prime competition for WWE, though, not even TNA. I figure it's going to be a huge number of small televised shows competing with each other, probably doing cross promotional stuff (less competition and more friendly rivalry, I suppose). TNA'll be sorta the leader of the small promotion pack, at least for a while...mostly because of their immediate star power. I'm sure another emerging fed could quickly garner greater attention if they got a big name of their own.
WWE's not going anywhere, though. It'd take something massive to shake their spot at the top, something TNA doesn't have and nobody else seems to have the potential for. I do see WWE losing more viewers in the next ten years, but people are always going to watch Vince's product, no matter how shitty it gets and no matter how many alternatives there are. It's a habit by now.

What if Triple H divorced Stephanie and got fired? Then HBK went with him to TNA? how would that rock WWE?

That will never fucking happen. Ever. At all. Not the divorce part, but the HHH/HBK in TNA part. Seriously.

I agree with you. I have an odd feeling a bunch of new "territories" will pop up. I wouldn't be surprised to see a real rebirth of NWA, led by TNA. I don't think they'll directly compete with WWE but will offer wrestling the way it was supposed to be. I think it'll take 10 years or so for it to be cool again.

Yeah, if HHH and HBK went to TNA...well, I'd accept the Shadow conspiracy as complete and utter truth.

Well if Vince Got Pissed at Paul and Shawn wanted to leave with him. They'd go where they could get the most money... probably TNA.

I wouldn't have a problem with them going to TNA. Why would I? It just seems about as likely as me finding out that *gasp* I'm actually a woman.
As far as the question is concerned, I have no idea. We're at a point in wrestling right now where everything is up in the air. A lot of people feel that the WWE product has become stale, and now they're being given alternatives. Either these people will also lose interest in the new products and give up on wrestling all together, or they will tune in more religiously and possibly spread the word. I don't see professional wrestling going away any time soon, I'm just not sure whether it's going to get any bigger.

First of all, Vince getting that sufficiently pissed at Mr. Levesque is almost absurd. It's been said in interviews and the like that Vince loves him like his own son. Hell, he's joked about giving Stephanie the boot before he turns away the three H's. It's pretty well speculated that HHH is going to be one of the company's big leaders when Vince passes--I seriously doubt HHH would do something so monumentally retarded that the two would be on burning ground after that. He'd have to like, I don't know...get Stephanie addicted to heroin or something. And fuck Vince's wife. And run over his dog.
I doubt Shawn is close enough of a friend to HHH that he'd leave with him to a much smaller promotion rather than stay in his comfy main event seat with his massive checks, especially after HHH pulling something ludicrous enough for Vince to hate him.

Do you think Kurt Angle and XSW and all this coming together at the same time are just coincidence? Or is it being masterfully crafted by Paul Heyman in order to get his own promotion again?
jk.
but isn't it weird how all these small yet powerfull things are happening this week?
And what about MVP?!
I can't even see what the business will be like in 1 year, nevermind 10.

It is really hard to predict or even speculate. At this time last year, if anyone said that Kurt Angle would be in TNA, you would thought to be crazy.

Where will the business be in 10 years? Well 10 years ago Shawn Michaels was in his first title run, Hulk Hogan had just turned heel and formed NWO, WCW was ahead in the ratings, Austin 3:16 shirts were a new release by the WWF, The Rock hadnt wrestled a match yet, HHH was the greenwich snob, John Cena was in high school and Clinton was in his first presidential term.
The point is, I dont know where in the blue hell the wrestling business is going to be in 10 years and neither does anyone else on Earth. I can assure you WWE will be there though.

Imagine the wrestling industry is an ocean. This is how I think things may be in ten years:
The WWE is a whale. It's still the largest, and it may not be the most beautiful, unless you are an admirer of whales. Nor may it be the one with the most direction, but it will be the largest.
I see TNA and Adrenaline Unleashed as great white sharks, taking nibbles out of the WWE, but not actually downing it. XCW will be a tiger shark. It'll have its own identity, be seperate from the NWA, and will probably be seen as this era's "ECW". ROH will be the dolphin. The most beautiful creature in the sea, but not big enough, or without enough firepower to take down even the sharks.
DSW, OVW, UPW, etc. will be baby whales, and feed of the tits of Vince McMahon.
Wait, that's kind of how it is now. In ten years, everything will be different. They'd have been some kind of major change, or everyone has literally been sitting on their hands. I think the top stars will be completely different to what we expected, though.

Within 10 years, I think ROH will have more or less secured the posistion of ECW.
It may not be able to compete with the big companies, but it will stand on it's own, and unlike ECW, will probably be self-sufficient. I also think that if Gabe wants to, ROH will have a TV deal by then.
Also, taking into consideration the exposure ROH is getting in Japan, along with the GPWA, and NOAH wanting to get a strong American base, I think ROH will be getting a lot more foreign support.
However, this also means as it gets stronger, TNA will probably start securing their stars so they can't show up in ROH. Meaning much like ECW, ROH will be a victim of TNA and WWE raiding talent.
TNA itself will grow, but it may end up thinking it's bigger than it is. If TNA goes slow, in ten years, it may very well be competing with WWE... But if they bite off too much too quick, they will fall. In fact, if TNA competes to fast, expect them to be gone in 10 years, with ROH taking up the spot as America's second biggest wrestling company.
WWE will be fine. We may not like the product, but business wise, it will do fine. Within the next few years, if ECW can get a 2 hour slot, Heyman has full control, and Vince doesn't intervene, ECW COULD be the biggest ratings/money draw for WWE, or at least compete with Raw for that slot.
Calrito and Johnny Nitro will both be main eventers and world champions....
NJPW will have a golden period within the next ten years, but so will Noah. However, NOAH's American excursion, along with it's work with ROH will make the company more money. Dragon gate will gain more momentum, and become a major player in the Japanese wrestling seen.

The WWE will most likely always be around and be the big dog that runs all year around for the main stream fans. TNA will hopefully fuck off and die. ROH will probably be around for the fans who actually know two shits about wrestling.
But yeah,
I can see a up-and-coming promotion getting themselves a TV deal where they run 13 shows a year, all in back to back weeks. The concept is to have a big tournament each year to determine who is the Champion and the best wrestler. The show will run for 13 weeks (or whatever) and will basically be one big tournament to determine who is the best singles wrestler. You can also add a tag team tournament to the show as well. Then if its a success, the tournament could become an annual show that occurs every year.
Wrestling is cyclical.
We had the Hogan tidal wave, which rushed the American shores and slowly dried up as we entered the early 90's.
We had a dry streak for several years with guys like Hart, Michaels, Undertaker, Diesel and Vicious on top, while WCW brought it's name to the table.
Then we got hit with two consecutive tidal waves: WCW vs. the nWo, and the Stone Cold Steve Austin/Attitude Era.
Things dried up about 2003. I'd say in ten years, Ken Doane, CM Punk, Shelton Benjamin, John Cena, Randy Orton, Johnny Nitro and Carlito will be running the WWE's main event scene, with all the old faces retired.
TNA will be a major competitor with a major time slot up against WWE.
ROH will be the ECW of the new wave.
Hopefully we don't have to wait 10 years for things to get that interesting though, because my attention span for professional wrestling is seriously wavering.

Evolution is a mystery.
Full of change that no one sees.
clock makes a fool of history.
Yesterday's too long ago
Don't agree with what I know.
Tomorrow becomes the place to be.
I see the line in the sand.
Time to find out who I am.
Looking back to see where I stand.

I think that in ten years time Triple H will be running the wrestling industry. I honestly believe he will be the most influential figure. And when we look back in 20 or 30 years, wherever the industry may be then, Triple H will have made every big decision and been a part of every event that has changed the course of wrestling.
