Who would you have win the Royal Rumble this year?

Its a bit early to talk about the Rumble, but I am really bored. I'd give the Rumble to Carlito this year. I feel if he goes another year without doing too much, his crowd reactions are just going phase out and the WWE won't be able to cash in later on to their full potential. I figure Carlito is pretty reliable in terms of injuries, good in the ring, can work a mic and always gets a reaction from the crowd.

The only thing I don't really like are the potential Wrestlemania opponents. Carlito and John Cena? :o Carlito and Booker? Probably be good, but its the Smack Down! title so no one will care. Carlito and Show :|

I don't know, I can't really find an opponent that would suit Carlito for the main event. Maybe HBK, but he needs knee surgery and will likely just barely make it back for Wrestlemania and there won't be enough time to make HBK the champ and to build the feud.

Even if they can only come up with a Carlito-Cena match, I still say Carlito should be the one to win the Rumble.

I think they should do Cena and Orton at Wrestlemania probably, so either Cena or Orton, with Cena taking Wrestlemania.

If its Smackdown! I think they should go with The Undertaker or Batista winning the Rumble and the have Undertaker go over Batista at Wrestlemania, why? I don't know I just don't think Taker is done and he doesn't have to pass the torch until he is.

A returning Chris Benoit, Carlito, possibly Mr. Kennedy.

Personally I would have CM Punk win it just because I would, but it's too early for him and I don't think he should be moved brands, and Vince McMahon will roll over in his own piss before he put the ECW Championship as the main attraction of Mania. Though if RVD won the title at December to Dismember, they could have an incredible fued both in the ring and of their gimmicks/real life personas.

I'd put Edge to win The Royal Rumble, because Cena and his feud has been going for a long time, and I think it needs a huge stage and a big gimmick to end it.

The last few years the WWE has been giving the win to The new face in the main event (Established stars coming into their own in the spotlight) that goes on to win the title.

There really isnt anyone that hasnt been a main eventer already that would make sense winning. They used it as a means to get those 3 over, but if Edge or Orton wins it wouldnt do anything for them, as either way the yare former champs and already credile main eventers.

I see it going to Lashley, and his first title reign will come at Wrestlemania.

Shit, maybe they would be dumb enough to book Umaga as the winner.

iI would mark to see HBk win it a thrid time to get a shot at wrestlemania, facing a heel edge, and let them have an epic TLC match to help wind down Shawns career and give edge a nice rub to his undefeated record.

In that case I would have Jeff Hardy win the rumble, and go on to face Edge for the title, with Edge winning.
Either that or Carlito wins and pulls a Chris Benoit and uses his title shot on Smackdown and switches brands, in which case I'd have him go over at Mania.

It would be cool if it was someone we weren't expecting. Every year it's always the guy you know is going to win the Rumble. lately it's been painfully obvious. At least a few years ago there were a couple possible Rumble winners along with the most obvious winner.

I like surprise, and the WWE has not delivered that in a Rumble winner in a while.

Carlito has a good chance. I'd like it more if he was booked to be a favorite, but not as a winner... Like Randy Orton in the Rumble Benoit won... only winning. Orton "could" have won that Rumble, but we knew he wasn't. Now imagine that, only winning... and not Orton because I don't want Orton to win the Rumble.

The royal rumble is definitely the best part of brand extension. Theres actually excitement of not knowing who will win, as opposed to back in the day when the rumble was used to book a fued between 2 wrestlers where you know one of them would win, and most likely the face.

also note, a heel hasnt won the royal rumble in more than 10 years, unless you count Vince which you knew was going to Austin anyways. And 99% of the time the Royal Rumble winner wins the title at Wrestlemania.


Of course nothings for sure, but with these trends (and the fact that the title was retained last year meaning it will most likely change this year) the question could very well be, What face do you think will win the title at wrestlemania this year?

Because marks can't see each superstar in their own right. They have to relate them to other mark favorites. i.e. Lashley=Lesnar Gunner=Benoit Jericho=HBK Carlito=Ramon Orton=Rock, etc.

I'd have Chris Benoit win the Royal Rumble. The guy didn't do a bad job being their main player in 2004, and is a recogniseable face from the Attitude era. King Booker vs. Chris Benoit in the main event of WrestleMania? Stranger things have happened. Benoit is a reliable main eventer, one of the best wrestlers in the world, and he's won it before. It's been five years since a repeat winner won the Royal Rumble. No doubt John Cena will do it (Hell, I can see him losing the WWE Championship just so he can win it this coming year), but it'd be sweet if Benoit won it again.

If I was going for a completely wild winner, I'd choose Shelton Benjamin. He's proven himself as a wrestler, he's not exactly green, and he'll be spreading his wings and reaching his prime soon. Every time this guy has been given the stage, he's been entertaining. They can show his victories over Triple H, his Money in the Bank moments, and some of his better moments, and just push him as the greatest athlete in sports entertainment. Have him keep his current persona, but just kind of push him a bit stronger, kind of positioning the fans on his side. I can actually see John Cena retaining the WWE Title against Benjamin, but the match would be fun, and Benjamin would be seen as a main event player.
