Yeah not really fun at all. Neither is that retarded group you tried to get me to join on facebook either. Look, I'm not saying you should be like sad or depressed about some dude you don't know dieing since it happens all the time, but making fun of it is pretty pointless.

Very Sad.

I was real excited when the Yanks signed him this year. He's always been one of my favorite pitchers (and I'm not just saying that cause he died) ever since his run with the A's in 2002. The A's have always been my 2nd team. I became a fan when he went on that classic run from August-Sept '02. I'll always remember that.

I'm glad I got to see him pitch in a Yankees uniform

RIP

I don't really get why this is such a haven for bad jokes? Not just talking about this board. I was in the newsroom as it was all happening on TV, and nobody was serious at all, it was just making fun of the situation.

I mean I know its a pretty random situation. You see a plane crashes into a NYC building, well shit, then WTF it is Cory Lidle, but why is it so socially acceptable to make fun of this situation?

I am asking in all honesty, not because I have strong feelings about it. It just seems odd that an athlete dies in such a way and it seems like a big joke.

Unfortunately for Cory Lidle his death is considered less important that one caused by terrorism, once everyone realised it wasn't an attack they stopped giving a fuck:-\

Joey RoXer is getting a reputation for making fun of deaths too soon.

It is ofcourse Roxer's right to say what he wants, but obviously it is my right and anybody else's right to tell him he's being a prick doing it.

RoXer

Yeah, BCWWF basically hit it on the head there. If you watched CNN or MSNBC for about an hour, it would get worse and worse. First it was an explosion, then it was an gas leak, then it was a small plane, then it was terrorism, then they officially ruled out terrorism, then it MIGHT have been a terrorist attack, and then the big climax was a Cory Lidle attack. And everyone right there goes, "What"? I know that after hearing that, I was expecting this thing to keep spiraling out of control. Hell, I guessed that he was in the bahamas or in the woods on vacation and has no idea this was going on.

Anyway, this thing just kept spiraling and spiraling and I think everyone found the situation humorous in a way. Now that it's stopped though, everyone still has that feeling in them.

All I know is this is not even close to being the worst thing someone has posted on here but people only speak up at convenient times.

I think it comes down to the odd circumstances when the news broke, and the fact that Cory Lidle, especially after the trade, was a player that most people knew of, but that is about it. If it was a random journeyman guy, it would have probably been a lot of "sad" type coverage, and if it was a star it would obviously be different. Lidle is just kind of like "that guy," you know him but not, there isn't really a personal tie to him.

That might just be me though.

Nah you're right, if it'd been a legendary veteren like Roger Clemens or an all-american rookie star like David Wright there would've been people crying in the streets of various places

I have a dark sense of humor. I'll admit it. I think my only remark about the whole thing was that the Yankee's Pitching Staff were Terrorists. The follow up that I heard was "Boston might stand a chance if the Bronx Bombers were all at Gitmo." That I feel was a good joke.

I looked at all of Roxer's stuff and was like :-\

I didn't like the whole bit, but only because it wasn't funny. Jokes about Deaths I have no problem with, as long as they can connect with my sense of humor. I, for one, enjoy the Darwin Awards. At the same time, some people carry themselves with an amount of respect and bring a goodness to the world that I can't find any humor in them dying.

Seriously though, if you're gonna make fun of someone's death, at least TRY to be funny. And try to keep it in context.

The only things that really made me laugh was K zone, Plane Crash, and a few of those haikus.
