Let's forget about Kane's face being burned and The Undertaker being dead and list some of the smaller things that bother you in wrestling.

For example, I hate when Triple H does the DX intro with Shawn getting a bit repetitive with "and if you ain't down with that...". That was the New Age Outlaw's thing, and it doesn't exactly work well if you're saying the same shit.

So yeah, continue.

Edge & Christian's brotherhood being dropped and never mentioned again really bothered me for some reason.

The fact that TNA has like a dozen or so backed up #1 Contender matches...Abyss has like 3, Monty Brown 2 I think, and a coupleof others that should have had a title shot, not to mention Raven's rematch for the title never happened.

The McMahon's relationships with one another, they never seem to pick up where they left off, it's always just a matter of at any given point one of them doesn't like the other, but with no rhyme or reason usually.

I want William Regal to be a World Champion...just once...for like a day...or halfa show...or something.

Hulk Hogan is still alive.

JR not calling HHH or HBK by their names anymore annoys me, if just one of them does something he'll say 'his head has been busted open by DX' or something. Don't they have names anymore or what?

The 'if you ain't down with that' shit is bothering me also.

As are the repetitive jokes about cock, though some have been funny, if chilidish.

Vince Mcmahon talking shit about ECW when they're actually doing a good job with it.

I'm sure there's more but can't think of anything yet.

Edge & Christian's 'brotherhood' wasn't dropped, they did mention it sometimes when they got in the ring together a few years after they broke up so they didn't forget about it. I got to agree with you about the McMahons, they'll have a storyline where Vince and Shane are fueding with each other then Shane disappears from TV for a few years and comes back and all of the sudden he's helping Vince. That is what I can't stand most about WWE is when they're inconsistant with anything.

Little things that annoy me...

The fact that when wrestlers are having a "private discussion" etc backstage but they haven't noticed the camera (or the camera operator, or the boom guy, or the director).

The fact that referees can only hear when looking in the direction of the action.

When they seem to be building a tag division only to have it shit on.

When WWE builds someone up just a little then decide "they can't get over" and sack them. Especially when they haven't given them the best starts/pushes. (Matt Morgan, Charlie Hass, et al)

Useless big men being pushed (Henry, Khali)

When an old guy goes over a young guy (Hogan and Taker are the main guys for this)

The fact that Vince treats SmackDown! with such contempt.

===============================================================================

Sorry if we were only talking storyline annoyances but I had to get that out!

Stupid Matches (you know the ones I mean)
Mid-Carders not getting thier pushes.
Main eventers not getting title shots.
DX ( Seems like a main event tag team, that aren't going for any titles.)
Eddie Guerrero's memory being fucked with because of storylines.
TNA's Commentary, the raspy voiced fellow, thats like "OH MY GOD" , and sounds like Lemy from Motorhead.
HHH's King of Kings entrance not being used :(
Legends that are STILL around
Mark Henry, and Khali, and other useless big guys.

DX ( Seems like a main event tag team, that aren't going for any titles.)

That can easily be explained by the fact that the Mcmahons don't want them holding the titles due to their feud.

- Referees (especially in the E) bother me. They shouldn't be so much a part of the action. Count to three, check submissions, be distracted by tag team partners, etc. Less of this getting in the way of a clothesline business.

- Squash matches. Especially the brand currently being offered in ECW. Let guys like Punk and Thorne actually put on a decent match. I'm sick of seeing the same five moves every week.

- DX. Sure, they make me chuckle every few skits or so, but other than that I have no use for HHH and HBK as a unit. They aren't pushing anybody, and they can't do much better for themselves so stop this nonsense. HBK heel turn, baby.

- The Impact! Zone fans. I know that there exists a widespread hatred for these people, but I am a part of it and forever will be.

- Sonjay Dutt.

Shawn Michaels not even being a character. HHH cuts all the promos and he just sits back and bites his fingers like a little kid. Its really annoying. You're in DX, be a degenerate. I know its because he 'found god', but I don't see whats so unholy about cracking a joke. The other thing that sucks is Sweet Chin Music always resulting in the opponent left standing and turning around into the pedigree. It was cool the first couple times but its gotten to be a staple of their matches and its just really annoying.

Randy Orton going over Carlito. Both of these guys have family in the business. One of them is good in the ring. One of them is good on the mic. One of them is entertaining. He's the one who got jobbed.

Cade and Murdoch not being allowed to show they're something. The guys are, unfortunately, heatless. I, of course, miss the days when there was managers. Or giving the performers enough air time to at least LET THEM show they have a personality, or a gimmick, or a purpose. Murdoch especially, because he has to be the most interesting character on Raw when he's allowed to talk. And after a few pounds, Cade no longer looks like a Goof wearing a Cowboy Hat.

This has been discussed before. WWE (as do most wrestling organizations that broadcast over TV) operates under the guise that the camera is invisible. Occasionally wrestlers have broken this fourth wall and used something they saw on a TV screen in their favor (a la Batista before WM 21 when he discovered that HHH was the one that drove JBL's limo in an attempt to get Batista over to SD!...by watching a television screen as HHH did a backstage promo with Flair), but it's rare to see that happen. Usually, the camera doesn't exist. It's something that one has to get over in order to suspend disbelief.

YES, the DX "if you aint down with that.." is really annoying. Actually, the whole SUCK IT thing is annoying.

I pretty much agree with everything that's been said in this forum.

Booker T really annoys me.

The lack of any moves in matches annoys me. Seriously, half the matches are punch punch chop*10, body slam, finisher.

Vince going to pussify ECW even more.

Mcmahons on TV.

3 minute matches, 15 minute diva contests.

I am bothered by knee drops that "connect" to the face and head. They're so obviously unrealistic that it just fucking bothers me. If you jump onto someones face knees first there is no way they should be conscious and now way they should'nt be fucking disfigured, let alone be able to mount a comeback 30 seconds later.

Lack of title changes and even defenses on TV annoys me. In 98 the title would be defended nearly every week, sometimes to midcarders who normally dont get a shot, and as for the IC title, it used to be just as likely to change hands on TV as at a ppv.

TerranRich
10-17-2006, 11:59 AM
Jeritron, that's what nearly killed the legitimacy of the title. I much rather like it this way. It makes the title more important to only have it change hands when it NEEDS to, not at the drop of a hat.

The People's Elbow always bothered me, mainly coz it was such a shit looking move that didn't look like it hurt in the slightest. Much in the same vein, the five-knuckle-shuffle annoys me too.

In addition, the blatent lack of long-term memory in the writers. I just wish they would at least acknowledge things - something like they could do with DX especially with their current personas.

HBK - 'Hunter, you did try and kill me 4 years ago, remember?'
HHH - 'No, Shawn, we've been over this, you were going through a bad time, you aren't remembering properly.'
HBK - 'No was definitely you, I remember the hair, the sledgehammer, you.'
HHH - 'No no, it was Austin.'
HBK - 'Austin? What was the hair?'
HHH - 'Er......wig.'
HBK - 'Ah yeah, remember now.....'

Just a little don of the cap to a few years back would be nice. Fucking WWE writers.

A couple more things:

Almost every tag match is the same, in TNA it's even worse.

In tag matchs the ref will get distracted when the face wrestler gets a tag sometimes and wont allow it, yet when a heel tag team tags behind the refs back, its OK. Wtf is up with that?

TerranRich
10-17-2006, 01:51 PM
Like addy said, the whole amnesia thing. One thing that particularly bothered me last night was the fact that McMahon suddenly doesn't seem bothered by DX at all. When Edge mentioned DX to McMahon (tag match at Cyber Sunday), I half-expected McMahon to seeth with anger and clench his fists, at least. Of course, the other half expected McMahon to say "DX! I LOVE DX! GOOD RATINGS, YES, DX ARE COOLS!!"

I was half-right.

Another thing that kinda bothers me is that WWE continually breaks kayfabe nowadays, but sometimes tries desperately to keep kayfabe. For example, Kennedy using the word "release", which is the first use of the word in that context on-screen I believe. Also, Eric Bischoff talking about his book and just spilling everything in the open about the backstage business. And showing wrestlers out of character when certain others have to remain in character.

I mean, if Maria can act normal during an interview about The Marine, why can't Eugene (Nick Dinsmore) be allowed the same for his private life?

More time being put ito pimping your movie than developing your character. I know the wrestling business is all about shilling like a whore, but nigga please.

Ref bumps happening so often they even joke about it in their video games.

Lack of quality themes and new or named finishers. Nobody should be stuck with a "mofidied" anything as their title. For God's sake, it's less imaginative than "Big Boot" or "Chokeslam."

Leave it to a guy with a Bret Hart avatar to blame Shawn Michaels for HHH's camera hogging.

As for my contribution to this discussion, I don't know if this could be considered a small thing, but I'm really annoyed by the usual WWE bandaid of having Raw end every week with a face win. Sure, the casual fan loves to see DX or Cena win over the heels, but if you really want a lasting, meaningful feud between DX and Orton/Edge, wouldn't you want the challengers to win the first round?

Fox

-Jeff Jarrett's over booked main event matches. Every fucking NWA Championship match he has plays out like a poorly rehearsed action scene from a Michael Bay film. There's no drama to his matches because the situations aren't performed well enough and there's always about two or three run ins before he gets pinned.

-Even after he gets pinned, he wins the championship back on an un-aired house show two weeks later. FUCK!!!

-When two wrestlers in a cage match are fighting to try and get out of the door, and then one wrestler hits a big move on the other wrestler, and then decides that, for some reason, it's a better idea to try and climb over the top. Hmmm, pretty sure the door would be a hell of a lot faster, jack ass. You know, the door you were JUST trying to get out of about 30 seconds ago? Why do they even have the doors anymore?

-Jeff Hardy's queer arm bands.
