Hot on the heels of the recent DVD release of X-Men: The Last Stand, today's new preview pages focus on the franchise's planned prequel spin-offs. First up will be Wolverine, with Hugh Jackman set to return as the super-healing, adamantium-clawed Canadian brawler, followed by Magneto, which in a wonder of CGI, will apparently star Sir Ian McKellen playing a version of himself even younger than that seen in the opening scenes of 'The Last Stand'.

Wolverine is understandable, Magneto's movie might only draw a few comic nerds here and there... and only if done right (ie. Brian Siinger, PLEASE come back).

Based Upon: (10/6/06) This movie is based upon the Marvel Comics mutant leader (and villain) first introduced in 1963 in 'Uncanny X-Men' #1 as the leader of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. More directly, this is a spin-off prequel of the popular 'X-Men' movies, in which Magneto was played (brilliantly) by Sir Ian McKellen. This is just one of the planned spin-offs of the 'X-Men' franchise, which includes Wolverine and a possible 'X-Men 4' which would focus on the younger members of the team and other students at Xavier's School.

Just put gambit in one of the them!

Gambit was by far my favourite and they haven't done anything with him

To be fair, his powers are kind of difficult to carry over on-screen. But then again I'm the guy who wants Apocalypse to show up so what do I know?

How is it difficult to have a deck of card, charge them, then watch them explode? That's easy!

Well, yeah, but what about all the CGI required to do it all and finding ways for him to use this explosive ability on living things. It's pretty hard to CGI someone getting hit with something like that. And he's not just about charging only cards.

Yeah I know he's not just about charging cards, but surely it can't be that hard for him to touch an object, then it glow, then it explode

Woah I just wasted my 8000th post on that above :(

He uses cards specifically because they are small, which means nonlethal force on super villains. And he doesn't have to make a direct hit. An explosion near an ordinary person will get the job done

If they were to film it so he charges stuff up, then goes back to normal for a few seconds then explodes it would be even easier to do, heck Tron had to deal with harder graphics
