so its set to come out 10/25. ebgames.com says if you pre-order you get a special code to unlock silver surfer. so does that mean he will only be unlockable through that code? any idea on confirmed list of villians and heroes. the official website takes forever to load.

It's actually pretty damn good to be honest. I'll pick this up when my account is in good shape. What I want to hear more about is Marvel Universe Online.

Boondock Saint
10-18-2006, 11:21 PM
Think I may pick this and Bully up. This for the Xbox though. I never played Xmen Legends but I know these are RPG type games. I hate FF, or RPGs where you take turns fighting. Although I thought KOTOR was ok. I enjoyed Fable (could have been better) and I like Zelda, although I've been told thats not really an RPG.

But whatever, what would this game be more along the lines of?

Funky Fly

Really wish I had my PS2 right about now. Way to much awesome coming out at once.

The Genius
10-19-2006, 12:26 AM
boondock, i dont like traditional turn based rpgs either but x-men legends 2 and this are more along the lines of action fighting based with the rpg element of being able to alter the stats of your character and give them additional equipment.

each character of your 4 man team has 4 special mutant powers and then you have your basic brawler punch and kick attacks.

how are you supposed to fight Galactus in this?!

Funky Fly
10-19-2006, 05:22 PM
Probably the same way you fight the last bosses in the x-men games.

Disturbed316

I've been keeping a loose eye on this, so many other games are out when this comes out though.

The only thing I dont like about these kind of games is the way they blend the 616 and ultimate universes.

Spider-Man
Logan
Blade
Thor
Elektra
Fantastic Four (All members)
Iron-Man
Cap America
Silver Surfer (via special code that'll end up online anyway)
Ice-Man
Storm
Ghost Rider
Dr. Strange

Punisher?
Hulk?

Destor
10-19-2006, 11:32 PM
Sweet list. I heard the Hulk wasn't in this? Can anyone verify this?

Kalyx triaD
10-19-2006, 11:45 PM
There hasn't been any coverage on the bad-guys, but one can assume every hero's arch-enemy will make an appearance.

The Destroyer

Most of this info is lifted from Wikipedia, so it might not be 100% reliable...

Confirmed playable:

Blade
Captain America
Deadpool
Dr. Strange
Elektra
Ghost Rider
Human Torch
Iceman
Invisible Woman
Iron Man
Luke Cage
Mr. Fantastic
Spider-Man
Spider-Woman
Storm
The Thing
Thor
Warbird (or Ms Marvel, not sure which persona she's in)
Wolverine

Hawkeye, Ronin, Captain Marvel and Nova are supposedly PSP exclusives.

Colossus and Moon Knight are apparently next gen console exclusives.

Rumours that Black Panther, Nick Fury, Daredevil and Silver Surfer will be unlockable. And there's been long standing rumours about Punisher and the Hulk being unlockable, but there's been absolutely nothing besides the suggestion they might be X-Box 360 exclusives, but no word on that.

There's also alternate skins for certain characters that basically turn them into whole new characters. Iron Man has War Machine, Spidey has the Scarlet Spider and there's a few others.

Villains revealed: Abomination, Arcade, Attuma, Baron Mordo, Blackheart, Bullseye, Crimson Dynamo, Dark Phoenix, Deathbird, Dragon Man, Doctor Doom, Dormammu, Empress S'ybill, Enchantress, Executioner, Fin Fang Foom, Galactus, Gladiator, Grey Gargoyle, Kraken, Kurse, Loki, Madarin, Mysterio, Mephisto, MODOK, Radioactive Man, Rhino, Scorpion, Shocker, Super-Skrull, Tiger Shark, Titannus, Ulik, Ultron, Winter Soldier, The Wrecking Crew, Ymir.

Bound to be more to come on top of that though... since some of them are mighty obscure.

There's also a load of NPCs that apparently include some of the Inhumans, the Gods of Asgard, various X-Men members and assorted others.

The Genius
10-20-2006, 11:24 PM

Yeah, like it was stated, the Legends games only incorporate elements of RPG games such as leveling up and conversations. But it's very streamlined and a lot more hands-on in terms of action. You'll be doing more ass-kicking than worrying about things like hidden areas, obtaining certain objects, and other traditional RPG stuff. In other words, it doesn't feel like an RPG.

The Destroyer
10-21-2006, 03:40 PM
The only real RPG element is the fact your characters level up and gain skills. Otherwise it's way more action orientated.

I heard he's not in it because another game company has exclusive rights for Hulk in video games right now.

For those of you looking for stuff to get free when you purchase the game. Here are some stores offering free suff with purchase of this game.

EB Games/Gamestop: Pre-Order, get the code to unlock Silver Surfer

Target: Free unlockable Daredevil character. (That's what the flyer says, so I'm assuming a code) Quantities limited; no rain checks.

Circuit City: Free X-Men: The official game (X-3) with purchase of the 360 or PS2 titles. While supplies last, minimum 3 per store. 29.99 - 39.99 value.

Best Buy: Free comic book with purchase of any Marvel Ultimate Alliance game. Minimum 16 per store. No rain checks.

Hope this helps some of you.

The Destroyer

Silver Surfer and Daredevil are probably going to be unlockable in the game through normal means anyway, so those deals are hardly as wonderful as they seem.

Anybody play the other game, Justice League Heroes?

The Genius
10-29-2006, 08:39 PM
so far my only complaint is that by default they make all the upgrades automatic and you have to go in to each character and turn off auto upgrade and gear equipping. but an hour in and the game is amazing.

I just got Justice League Heroes instead of Marvel Ultimate Alliance (I was literally holding them both in my hands and doing a double take over and over again).... starting to wonder if I made a bad choice.

JLH is a lot of fun, but has anyone here played both games? If so, which is better?

Marvel Ultimate Alliance is better, and I'm not saying it because I'm an Marvel Fanboy

Justice League is good, but lacks compared to UA

I didn't like how in Justice League, you had to play as certein heroes in certein levels, No Side Quests, and not very much gameplay (Can beat in 10-15 Hours)

While Marvel UA offers you...24 Playable Characters, the ability to create your own team (As in name and give them an logo as well as giving team stats and having fighters as reserves)

And I've been playing for 15 Hours and I'm still only in the beginning of Act 3 of End of 2, whatever Ashgurd is..

So, not to do any spoilers, but for the people who beat it, sequel?

Destor
10-30-2006, 08:27 PM
If you are asking if I want one YES definitely. Or if you are asking about what they are foreshadowing, I have no formal opinion. I am hoping for the them to take the Infinity Gauntlet route. (Which they could easily do.)

Mister Sinister
10-30-2006, 10:18 PM
It seems like the most logical choice, since the other two, which would be, Secret Wars, or Civil War, which the later of which would be good, Secret wars would be off, since well, if that was the case...Dr. Doom would still be the main villian..

So there are alternate Endings for this?

I'm still in Asgurd, and saved Nightcrawler, so I'm waiting to see what they causes.

LoDownM
10-30-2006, 10:29 PM
I saved Nightcrawler to.

I dont know if there's alternate endings or not, but after you beat Doom. It tells you the results of your actions, cause and effect stuff..Like say in Asgard, you find that chicks sword, it'll tell you what happened if you found it and vise versca if you didnt.

And Destor I was talking about at the end after you beat Doom, and the thing with Galactis(sp) saying he'll crush them for stealing from him

Destor
10-31-2006, 12:58 PM
LowDownM Galactus (thats is how you spell it) will probably have a huge roll in the next game, but I'm thinking Thanos might be the boss. But that's just my opinion.

Can you save both Jean and Nightcrawler? I tried everything I could think of but I couldn't do it.

Also I got all of the hidden charecters (with out cheating.) Here is what I think of them:

Nick Furry is decent at best, easily the worst of the bunch, but still better than people lie Electra and the Invisible Woman. If you the costume witrh the increased chance of critcal strikes and an item the greatly increases criticals he becomes a very effective charector when using the sniper shot move. VERY effective.

Black Panther is next on the list. He plays like a Woverine mixed with Electra. Wolverines moves, Electra's strength and speed. The speed is nice, but he is just too weak when I can take people like Thor or Iron Man. But he still plays better than Furry.

Daredevil almost ties with the Surfer in my opinion. What a chraector. Using his origional skin you can increase his XP rate and his baton Damage, this makes him awesome. Once you max out that baton move where it basically throws it at them then pulls it back to hit them twice he will be able to kill most grunts in one blow. I only wish he could use his grapple to web sling...

The Silver Surfer is the man, he is the Cylcops of the game. Between gis charge blast and the uber powerful Molecular Mix-up he is unstoppable. I currently have him at level 34 and I cant get the mollecular mix-up higher than level 4 and it is the second or third most powerful move I have seen. Once maxed out it will be insane. Quite the charecter.

Non hidden MVP:

Thor. I started playing him in Asgard, and holy shit, he has some that hit hard. Plus he can fly and deal somepowerful blows from where a lot of charectors cant hit him. Add in the power elemental and he is the man.

Spider-man, Iron Man, Wolverine, Human Torch, and Captian America are also REALLY good to have around.

I'm so close to getting this but I'm still not sure if I'm gonna get a 360 anytime soon...UGHHH.

Just went to order it off Amazon...says In stock soon. Order now to get in line. First come, first served. And when I got to the checkout, it said estimated ship date for this item November 29th - December 12th or some shit.

Fuck that. Guess I'll goto Toys R Us or EB and get it but I am lazy so I dunno when that'll be.

Has it been so popular that it is selling out everywhere or something? WTF Amazon, you've never let me down before. :( This is the Xbox version, BTW. I guess I could get the PS2 version...

Should I get JLH to hold me over? There seem to be plenty of those...which could be a bad sign...

So my friend and I played up through the Omega base mission. Going to Atlantis next it seems.

I've become accustomed to Deadpool (throwing guys in the air and impaling them on the sword as they fall is all kinds of sick). The double shot is pretty cool too. Teleport has come in handy for me more than once.

It seems we pretty much keep the same team going:

Deadpool
Captain America
Wolverine
Spider-Man

It's a pretty badass team. Iron Man and Thor and Human Torch are cool too. Haven't used anyone else yet.

How do you change the team name?

Deadpool is hillarious I love his convos with Weasel, Black Widow and The Ancient One.

It's still fun to do.

Also, Wovie is mad overpowered when he gets his red dots all filled up. I took down Evil Spider Man and who ever the other evil version of the hero was while he was all "enraged" I guess you would call it.

Boondock Saint
11-07-2006, 07:51 PM
Kinda sucks that you can't fly/websling over doorways but have to go under...:wtf:

Word on the street is Ghost Rider can bring people back to life. Yes?

Destor
11-07-2006, 08:13 PM
Yes. I'm pretty sure it's a passive triat (one of his costumes.) Here's a little something I found on it:

Use the following trick to make a hard to kill team. Create a team consisting of Wolverine, Blade, Luke Cage, and Ghost Rider (Bad To The Bone team). The team bonus will be that 5% of all damage will be regained as health. Also, all these characters have a way to regenerate health. Equip the following outfits. For Wolverine, Astonishing, max out Health Regen and Defense. For Blade, Ultimate, max out Health Regen and Defense. For Luke Cage, New Avengers, max out Health Regen and Defense. For Ghost Rider, Original, max out Resurrect Ally and Defense. It is also recommended that Ghost Rider be equipped with The Heart Of Mephisto (10% of attack damage turned into health) or a similar item because he is the only character without a Health Regen. Equip other characters with gear that increases defense or dodging capabilities. Not only will your team be difficult to hurt, but they will be absorbing and regenerating most of the damage they take. If a teammate dies, Ghost Rider will have about a 50% chance of resurrecting them. Note: Ghost Rider is the weak character. He does not regenerate, and if he dies resurrection is lost. Also, Wolverine will regenerate the fastest because he has an inherit ability to regenerate in addition to the suit's bonus.

Mister Sinister
11-08-2006, 01:10 AM
you could also add Deadpool into that, as well, forget which costume accerates his healing factor.

Crimson

Do most of you play it on normal mode or easy? I have it on easy, cuz I suck at video games..but i'm wondering if it also revives your heroes after they get killed on normal?

LoDownM
11-08-2006, 10:39 PM
You have to wait a certain amount of time and get to a shield point to revive them on normal.

Mister Sinister
11-09-2006, 02:18 AM
It Revives your hero on all levels..

Beat Normal mode, now working on playing Hard Mode, with my characters, contining at the levels they were at, at the end of the normal game mode..

I like being able to carry your players stats over, thru however, you can't do it, going from Easy to normal, which I guess, for thoses who needs to play the game on Easy first..

However, Marvel UA will end up sitting away from my PS2 for awhile due to DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 being there.

Lara Emily
11-13-2006, 08:32 AM

Who are you're favorite heroes? Deadpool is the shit...Spidey is good..and next one probably Panther.

Also ,in the part where you have to choose who to save between Jean Grey, or the other dude when they are locked in the cages..is it the same outcome if you go either way? Like if you save one the other dies?

Hulk Smashes Activision's Ultimate Alliance

Eight new playable characters coming with new downloadable content.
by Hilary Goldstein
US, March 23, 2007 - Good news Merry Marvel fans, Activision's Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is getting the Hulk in April. Today, Activision announced plans to release its first expansion pack for last year's well-received Marvel RPG.

Marvel: Ultimate Heroes and Villains expansion adds eight new playable characters. Joining the aforementioned green behemoth are Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Hawkeye, Magneto, Venom, Sabretooth and Doctor Doom. Each character comes with new signature powers, skins, dialogue and conversations. And yes, 10 new Achievements are being added, bringing Ultimate Alliance's total to a whopping 60 possible Achievements.

"The signature gameplay of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance has made it a favorite among fans, as well as the best-selling Super Hero game on the Xbox 360 to date," said Rob Kostich, VP of global brand management at Activision. "By adding some of the biggest names in the Marvel Universe to the roster we're enabling Xbox 360 gamers to build a variety of all-new teams and enjoy the epic action in brand new ways."

The content does not add any new areas or villains to battle. But it adds the friggin' Hulk, so that may be reason enough for comic geeks to give the expansion pack a try. The eight characters are also being fitted to match current Marvel team bonuses already in the game. New teams are also being added to take advantage of the expanded roster.

The Ultimate Alliance DLC will be available in three separate packs. Both a Hero and a Villain Pack will be offered (containing four playable characters apiece) for 500 Microsoft Points ($6.25) each. Or you can but the Hero and Villain Pack, which includes all eight new characters for 800 Microsoft Points ($10).

Thinking that I could of gotten it cheaper now really doesnt mean anything to me at the moment because I picked it up as a free game when we were doing a buy 2 get one free thing at work.

Cant wait to start playing it again though...

Well, I own a PS2, but my brother owns the copy of the game for my PS2, so technically I don't own the game, so I have no reason not to buy it for 360, when I get one.

Stupid 360. Even if Hawkeye, Hulk and Venom are the only ones that really sound that interesting.

Wonder what the new achievements will be.
And how much its going to cost...
My guess atm is that the achievements will be one per a character...
So for hulk it would be max hulks level out or max out his outfits or unlock all outfits.

Disturbed316

Evidently there was a problem with a patch for the game that came out the other day which is probably the reason for the delay.

KingofOldSchool
04-11-2007, 10:27 AM

The patch can alter or delete saved games.

The packs will come out in a good week or so, give it time. And next month, Activision is releasing a MUA Gold, which will probably have the characters in it, and then maybe more too.

I have yet to finish this game due to my friend not having time to play with me. We made a pact to finish together and not go on without the other which has effectively left us stranded in the middle of the third act indefinitely.
