C. Aguilera
As long as you're basically ignoring basically all all of time, save the 20 something years she's been alive, then yeah, go for it.

Funky Fly

And even then, there are 43567345 better singers alive today.

You should never be allowed to breed.

Obviously this poster is a fan of Christina Aguilara who ignores history. But I do feel she's gotta be up there. Aguilara is actually the only current woman that I would listen to. She does have talent compared to the rest. How Britney Spears got all the attention is beyond me as she can't hold Christina's jock strap...or g string.

Having talent compared to a bunch of pro-tools, pitch corrected hacks isn't saying much though.

Anyone who has sung for Massive Attack, in particular, Sara Jay

Current singers would probably be Lizzy Hale though. Great live singer.

Probably Mariah Carey.

Ok everyone Im speaking just on vocal ability alone. Not any image or anything like that. Personally I like Beyonce better but Christina's voice if she uses it no one can touch her. Mariah and Whitney both had and have some of the most pwoerful and unique voices ever. As we know Whitney fucked hers up. Mariah still holds her own but she pays so much attention to runs and rifs.
Old school I love Ella F. ,Etta J., Billie H., Mahalia J. and other Soul/Jazz singers. Its what I grew up hearing. I wasnt exposed to other genres of music until I was 13 or so.

What about Arethra? You say it's all-time, then dismiss her because she doesn't have the chops anymore?

Etta James? Don't tell me she doesn't have the chops Aguilera has, either.

Siouxsie Sioux?

Christina Scabbia (However you spell the LC vocalist)?

Aimee Mann?

Kay Hanley (Letters to Cleo), for a more bubblegum flavor?

Christina is a good set of pipes with a rather generic, lusty, girl band sound.

In a way you do agree with me.:y: See its not hard after you think about the women who are left. There are Legends such as Etta James but right now Christina is holding down the fort.

No, and it takes a pretty heavy level of stupidity to say I'm agreeing with you.

You said "all times," and "right now" Aguilera isn't holding down the fort. She's just the top of a bloated generic genre, but most of the women I mentioned are either contemporary or still around. Sure, Aimee Mann got her start in "Til Tuesday," but she's had an album out as recent as 05. Siouxsie Sioux is the only one besides James on that list who even might not be performing currently. I know LTC's still around, and Lacuna's still around...

To put Aguilera over James is fucking awful, especially when you discount both Franklin and James "All time" to top it with Aguilera.

Nina Simone or Tracy Chapman

Nina Simone's version of Bojangles is the sex.

Kane Knight

Yeah, Simone > 90% of female vocalists. Period. I always forget her though.

Ella Fitzgerald

Patsy Cline

Alison Krauss

A hunder other female vocalists before Christina Agu-whatshername.

I was about to say Stevie Nicks (sp?)...

Ella Fitzgerald is fantastic.

Patsy Cline definitely, she had something that the poptarts and the American Idoliots lack: Soul. She made you feel the pain in her lyrics.

The Chick from Lacuna Coil indeed. She's 100x better than Amy Lee, but gets 1/100th of the credit. She sings better in Italian than most chicks sing in English. :naughty:

Other additions would include Courtney Love and Macy Gray :shifty:

If it wasn't compared to Aguilera, I'd probably take that as a joke. But compared to that howling bitch in heat, Gray has a leg up...:shifty:
