Batista, I believe, needs a heel turn. And there have been talks of pushing for a Lashley/Batista match at Wrestlemania 23. So one of them really needs to turn heel and I think Batista would be more suited for that role.

In the last couple of weeks, they had a EXCELLENT opportunity to turn Batista but they passed up on it. Here's what could've gone down that would turn Batista and help build up to that Lashley/Tista Mania match.

1. At the Raw Family Reunion, Teddy Long sets up a one-on-one title match between King Booker and Batista. The stipulation being that this is Batista's last shot while Booker is champ.

2. Before the match Booker is shown backstage talking to Chavo Guerrero, but we're not sure what is being said.

3. During the Booker/Tista title match, Chavo comes down to interfer in the match. This leads to Mysterio coming out to brawl with Chavo. In the chaos of things, Booker attacks Mysterio which leads to Mysterio fighting back. The ref sees this and DQs Batista. Batista is in shock and is upset at Mysterio.

4. On Smackdown that week Teddy Long sets up a main even tag match between King Booker and Chavo Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio and Batista.

5. Batista is backstage when Chavo Guerrero walks in. Chavo tells Batista and is only there to talk. Chavo mentions Batista's friendship with Rey and points out several different things. Such as Rey having Batista help him fight Kane and Big Show while Batista was hurt last year, which aggravated the injury even more. Then he had to vacate HIS World Heavyweight Title because of those inuries. And who stepped into Batista's place? Rey Mysterio. This leads Batista to ponder Rey's true motives.

6. Chavo goes out to the ring and challenges Rey Mysterio to a "Loser Leaves Smackdown I Quit Match" for the next week on Smackdown. Rey comes out and accepts his challenge and then goes on to make a challenge himself. This challenge is to King Booker for the World Title once he finishes Chavo off. This brings out Batista and asks why Rey is challenging King Booker. And brings up everything Chavo said earlier about Rey stealing Batista's spotlight. Rey denies it and Chavo attacks Rey as Batista watches. King Booker then comes out and attacks Batista which starts the tag team match.

7. Mysterio and Batista beat Chavo and Booker. The story here is that Chavo and Booker work over Rey's knee all match. And then Batista gets the hot tag and goes on to pin Chavo. After Batista does all of the work, he sees Mysterio using the ropes to help himself up. Batista goes over and pulls Mysterio up, they look over and embrace. Dave and Rey are all smiles and then when Rey turns around, Batista's expression changes to anger. Batista then clips Rey in the knee and proceeds to destroy Rey, pulverizing his knee. And tops all of this off with a Batista Bomb through the announce table. Batista stands over a fallen Rey as the show ends on a quiet, dark mood.

8. The next week (which would be tonight's Smackdown) Chavo defeats Rey thanks to working over that leg which Batista destroyed to end Smackdown last week. Rey Mysterio is forced to leave Smackdown. Well Batista is no where to be seen this week and throughout the show they show video clips of Smackdown faces talking about what Batista did (basically putting him over as a demonic, bully heel). Lashley is the last person to mention what happened and requests Batista to meet him in the ring next week.

9. The very next week Lashley comes out and calls out Batista. Batista comes out in suit and slowly enters the ring. Lashley asks why he turned on their friend Rey Mysterio and turned on the fans who supported for close to two years. Batista claims that he didn't turn on the fans and that Mysterio turned on him last year when he took his life from him. Batista said that last year he got hurt and instead of taking time off to heal, he helped Mysterio fight Kane and The Big Show which only caused his injury to worsen. The injury got so bad that he was forced to vacate the World Heavyweight Title. And who stepped in and took Batista's spot? Rey Mysterio. If it wasn't for Rey Mysterio, Batista would've main evented Wrestlemania 22, not Rey Mysterio. If it wasn't for Rey Mysterio, Batista would still be World Heavyweight Champion. Batista would finish it by saying for the last year all Mysterio has done was leach off of other people's namesakes. First he leaches off the Guerrero name and then mostly importanly he leached off the name Dave...BATISTA.

Lashley challenges Batista to a match, but Batista balks at the opportunity saying that now isn't a good time.

10. Batista gets a "no contact" clause against Lashley for 90 days, saying that he is protecting Lashley's well being. This causes Finlay to confront Batista and calls Batista a pussy for jumping a guy much smaller than him. Finaly says that if he is looking for a fight, he's looking at a guy who loves a good fight. This leads to Batista/Finlay for Armaggedon which at the same PPV, King Booker defends the World Title against The Undertaker.

11. Undertaker wins the World Title at Armaggedon and is challenged to a match at the Royal Rumble against Batista. Batista wins the title at the Royal Rumble while Lashley wins the Rumble match, which is right around the time the restraining order is up.

From there the buildup to Lashley/Batista at Mania gets even hotter. Now during this whole time frame, there will be a lot of interactions between Lashley and Batista. Even them being on the same team at the Survivor Series. This way the fans will thirst for a pyshical altercation between the two by the time Wrestlemania draws near.

Thoughts??

I think WWE is smart enough not to put Batista with a bad worker. I think at Wrestlemania Batista v.s The Undertaker would be fitting.

Lashley isn't a bad worker though.

My thoughts? It makes too much sense, why have him challenge Undertaker when he could challenge Doug Basham?

Batista really does need a heel turn. At first my thoughts were that it is too early to turn Batista heel (maybe just wait for it to happen once he's World Heavyweight Champion, and Lashley wins the Royal Rumble?), but there is one thing I really liked about your scenario: Batista beat the shit out of Rey Mysterio.

I think that'd be an excellent way to turn him. Mysterio needs time off, and Batista isn't going to be able to turn with a simple promo. A simple way of turning him would be for Batista to just lose to King Booker in a World Heavyweight Title Match, then have Rey Mysterio come out to comfort Batista (maybe they could point out that they were WWE Tag Team Champions together, and still friends behind the scenes). 'Tista then takes out all his frustrations on Mysterio. Michael Cole would find it disgusting, JBL could sell it as shocking and vicious when it happens, but then praise Batista for being the man he can be the following week, and Theodore Long could have gotten pissed off because he's lost a top player in Rey Mysterio.

Batista can then just adopt his backstage personality as his wrestling character. "Why are you booing me?", "I'm carrying this show, Rey Mysterio is a B-player, why do you feel sorry for him?", etc. He gets frustrated with the heat some people would give him (I think Batista has enoug loyal fans to keep getting cheers past something as heelish as injuring Rey Mysterio, and it may make him some older male fans), so he snaps at them for booing him. He just acts really unprofessional. Then he could finally adapt, and say "Well, look, I've always been this treacherous, self-centered guy. I was a member of Evolution, I learnt from Triple H and Ric Flair.", and just stop giving a crap what the fans think once they are entirely against him.

So yeah, he attacks Rey Mysterio, cuts a few "Why are you booing me, who are you to do that?" promos, and then starts not giving a shit.

Batista vs. Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania should definately happen.

I just think that if Batista pulls the "you stole my spot, you stole my thunder, you used me to get to the top" card, then this could not only make Batista bitter and hostile (which he can later use in his feud with Lashley), but it can draw away attention from the whole "using the Guerrero name to push your career" away from Rey.

And here is what Batista's PPV matches would look like leading up to Mania.

Survior Series: Batista, King Booker, and Lashley vs. Big Show, RVD, and Sabu vs. D-X and John Cena

Armaggedon: Batista vs. Finlay (who turns face)

Royal Rumble: Batista vs. Undertaker (Batista wins World Title)

No Way Out: Batista vs. Kane

Wrestlemania 23: Batista vs. Lashley

And if your wondering why I have Batista, a man that should be a tough guy, getting a no-contact clause against Lashley. Well, this will put over the fact that Lashley is the ONLY ONE Batista doesn't want to face. He'll face Undertaker, Finlay, Kane, even The Great Khali, but the one guy he's afraid to face is Lashley.

batista turning heel would be better for his character because he's been pretty bad in the ring since he came back from his injury. Even before it he wasn't too good, but at least he was decent.

As a heel his poor wrestling skills could be over looked as long as he's getting the fans to genuinely hate him

I really like the way you've put chavo in this storyline.

Chavo has a real element of being a backstabber, so thats good.

However,
I don't think Batista should be a heel just yet. I mean, lets be honest, he's the most popular guy on Smackdown right now...in fact, he's probably the only guy who gets a really hot baby-face reaction. With Batista taking out Rey and turning heel, you then have, out of your top guys:

Batista - heel
Rey Mysterio - face (out injured)
King Booker - heel
Taker - face (part-time wrestler)
Kennedy - heel
Lashley - face (whose not very over)
Finlay - heel

I wouldn't have actually minded what you wrote here tho, if it could somehow intertwine Chris Benoit...because he seems mega-over right now. Maybe have Benoit win the title from Booker or something?

Finlay turns face in this whole thing and Lashley is very over with the crowd and this should him get that extra he needs to be a true Main Eventer.
