Anyway, I saw Dwayne Burnside (R.L. Burnside's grandson) last night with Mississippi Mafia..

Awesome Dirty South Blues..

Skynyrd has some of my favorite songs, "Freebird" not being one of them, oddly enough. "Mr. Saturday Night Special" is good. "That Smell" as well. "Simple Man" is probably one of their best songs, but what does everyone want to hear? "Freebird!" And Mother fucking Charlie Daniels. "Here in America" has one of the most bad ass intros of all time. And I do like me some .38 Special.

Then again, I am into its closely related Genre known as Outlaw Country, as well.

And well there is a bit of a Southern Rock resergence, so to speak. With bands like Crossfade, Shinedown, and Blackstone Cherry. All of which emphasize riffs as much as vocals (except maybe Shinedown, but their singer has some fucking pipes on him. Even then, they are hit and miss. ".45," "Heroes," and their cover of "Simple Man" are amazing. "I Dare You" and "Fly from the Inside" are both liquid shit.)

Well I don't know if you could call them a legit southern band since they are from New England, but Seemless is one of my favorite bands, they have a big Southern influence.

Maylene and the Sons Of Disaster are sweet.

New Underoath is pretty southern.
