I nominate Son Doobie

He was the frontman for Funkdoobiest.

Now he is part of Battleaxe Records (Swollen Members' label)

His Doobie Deluxe album has tons of energy. Not really enlightening shit, because it is kinda whack, but when you listen to his tracks, you wanna jump and boogie.

Criteria. Steve Pedersen (ex-Cursive) was this band in its entireity for the writing and recording of his debut CD under the "Criteria" moniker, En Garde - an excellent, and highly underrated, CD.

I was about to say criteria. I'd have to go with Lightning Bolt.

Immortal Technique (Rap): I really like the lyrical flow.
Jeffrey Gaines (Folk/Rock/Pop): He can be insightful and/or Beatles-esque.
Brian May (Rock/Country/blues): I know Queen isn't underrated, but his solo work is brilliant and passionate. IT deserves more attention, especially Business.

They're underrated in the mainstream, imo. But anyone who knows hip-hop knows they are the shit

You may want to take interest in Meat Loaf's Bat Out Of Hell 3. Brian May is a guest guitarist on the song "Bad For Good", and that kicked ass (was very much well recieved by Meat fans like myself when May's involvment was announced).

Yeah, I've meant to pick that up. It's not the only one he's been a guest on, either. I have Iommi, and there's a couple more.

Johnny Vegas

-Lupe Fiasco
-Lil' Wayne (if you listen to some of the lyrics that he says, he's ahead of his time. He can make any song sound hot)

Valencia - "This Could be a Possibility", amazing CD that was just realised in September, but I've had it since March. A truly underrated band who are also incredible live.

Chris Thile.

He doesn't get much recognition outside the Bluegrass/Country circle, and he is an amazing musician, especially when you see him perform live. Definitly one of the best live performers around today.

Sufjan Stevens.

That guys music sucks so bad. I downloaded an album , something having to do with Illinoise or chicago or something. Anways it was bad. I mean, everyone was saying how great it was and i really couldnt stomach it at all. In fact in made me wonder why everyone thought it was so great and i think i figured it out. 89% of the people on this board are impressionable and have no clue what they're talking about. This guy sucks horribly.

Illinois is probably my least favorite album by him. Download "A Sun Came!" or "Year of the Rabbit." They're less folky and more experimental.
