He could fit in well in a tag team with kennedy I think, but by himself he's boring as hell.

I think they should have debuted MVP as Montel Porter, and not be so full of himself and shit. Then, slowly build up the guy as a cocky heel, believing in his own greatness, and THEN have him call himself MVP. The way they did it (debut him as MVP) means that it can only go downhill from there.

Personally, I think he's doing a decent job, as the guy can work and he seems to get decent heel reactions when he comes out.

I enjoy laughing at him for being a little bitch. I think the character's amusing, though not necessarily anything I'd go out of the way to watch. Kinda an also-ran, and certainly nothing spectacular.

X-Pac heat is a figment of people's imagination. If you get boos, great. Why you get them is irrelevant. The WORST thing that can happen to a guy is absolutely no reaction whatsoever.

I'd much rather X-pac heat than the charlie Haas pop.

Anyway, I think MVP is ok...I'm interested to see how the match with Kennedy against the brothers of destruction will go. I'm very interested to know whether MVP has anything to bring to the table. SO far I don't mind him tho

The character hasn't taken off as awesome as it could have, in my opinion. His costume kind of takes away from his persona, in my opinion. Kane wasn't the wisest choice for first feud. We'll see how he gets over with Mr Kennedy by his side in coming weeks.

That doesn't work either.

And yes, it does matter where the boos are coming from. If you can't put asses in the seats, or adversely affect the show, it's a bad thing. It's really pointless to treat all heat as the same. Enough people that fans don't like, and revinues go down. But I suppose that's true heel heat--People not buying the product.

Weather he's good or not, and weather he get's legit heet or not, it doesn't really matter, he's now in a feud with the almighty Brothers of Destruction. Might as well fire him now as any heet he might have been able to get will be gone after he gets buried by Kane and Taker.

Agree 100%. I was talking to a friend of mine about this, he thinks the gimmick is great. I tried explaining to him that the only real place they can take it is him getting humbled. It's great short term build (well, it could have been had WWE not botched it horribly) but no long term pay off other than wasting a potential talent.

I don't know, I can see this program with Kane and The Undertaker being good for three out of the four participants. I honestly think The Undertaker is the one most likely to get nothing out of it.

MVP starting at the bottom would have been boring. I think they made a huge mistake not having him appear on RAW, ECW and SmackDown! leading into his debut, publicising him on all shows before having him wrestle. Anyway, now that it is done, I think MVP being put in a program with main event guys is the way to go. People are more likely to take notice of MVP this way, and are less likely to just forget he existed.

Say what you want, but that "Better Than U-Topia" team he formed in that one SvR game was the one of very few times I actually was invested in a Cena storyline, video game or TV, since like early 2005.

Didn't it start as a thing to cover up his ink? Been to prison/gang tattoos and such...

Also, even if that was true or not, he was in WWE at a time when most folks with tats PERIOD were kinda frowned upon whose name wasn't Undertaker. Hell, Orton supposedly got a lot of shit when he got stuff added initally. Their stance on visible tats has only loosened up since about the same time they also came to the realization that social media/internet presence was something other than 5 worldwide fans total had... and that's only been about ten years.

Before that, it was like "Well, if you had a couple when we hired you we can't do anything about that, don't add anymore. And don't get sleeves." Now, just about every guy that DOESN'T have sleeves almost looks weird.

Mr. Nerfect
10-30-2017, 12:10 AM
I think the attire was to cover up a Malcolm X tattoo or something. Eh, I kind of liked it. It was a bit superficially goofy, but that kind of made him seem more "serious" in this idiosyncratic sort of way.

The tattoo thing makes sense. Part of what WWE is marketing is your image. Getting new tattoos kind of immediately dates that image. I don't know if they'd have a major problem if you just let them know you were getting it done or whatever.

Tom Guycott
10-30-2017, 02:05 AM
I meant, though, it doesn't seem to be *that* much of a problem anymore. Not like it was even a decade ago. Wish I could remember specifically, but I believe there are stories of people not getting hired because they had work done. Then, fast forward to now, and every bitch and their brother has something somewhere visible and get new ones all the time. For example, that big AJ on the side of Styles would have warranted him having to rock a singlet because Vince didn't like it. Corey Graves wouldn't have even had his pre-concussion NXT run even with the advantage of being tall weighed against how much ink he has. Same with Baron Corbin. Now, it's more like "who gives a shit?"

Mr. Nerfect
10-30-2017, 03:15 AM
Yeah, possibly. Guys can wear gloves now too.

Tom Guycott
10-30-2017, 05:09 AM
Oh yeah, that was a thing, wasn't it?

Guess the tradeoff is that everyone has to wear shoes. So, no barefoot Rusev, Asuka, or any "tribal" Samoan gimmick.
