Happy birthday, Kip James.
I used to LOVE him when I first started watching in late 2000/early 2001. I marked out like a motherfucker when he made the Final Four in the 2001 Royal Rumble Match. Jim Ross put him over really well as "pound for pound the toughest man in the WWE". But then he kind of disappeared and what-not. I don't know if I'd have put the World Title on him, but he could have used a solid push, and maybe a few extra IC Title runs here and there.
I never got into his Outlaw/Kip James personas in TNA, but I must say, I am loving this Voodoo Kin Mafia gimmick. I wish Kip all the best.

Billy Gunn has had more more pushes then almost any two wrestlers combined.

That's true, but they came before I started watching. Nothing really happened for from about 2001 onwards.

Almost an understatement. He was good on the mic, not phenomenal in the ring but decent enough, and he had the look of a major player. He should have been a big time main eventer but he could never put it all together and now he's a mid-level guy in the #2 promotion.
Probably because they called him "Mr. Ass" when about 75% of the wrestling demographic are MALES. They also treated him as a nobody-special, and even if some of the remarks he and BG James made toward Triple H were a bit much, they're probably partly true, and I'm sure Triple H had a huge influence on Billy Gunn never getting a main event push.
Or it might be because he was called "Mr. Ass." I mean, come the fuck on.

His match with Jamie Knoble at Vengeance 2003 was really good. And he was mildly entertaining with Road Dogg and Chuck... but I was never really a fan of him, and don't really care for him now.
The Show-Gunns?

The Show Gunns. Nice one, there's another repressed memory I was trying to keep down.
