This is why they sell so well. People want to hear the same song over and over again. It does slightly amaze me that they made no effort to disguise it, by say playing it in a different key (Fuck, even if your guitarist only knows those four chords, GET A CAPO FOR 20 BUCKS).
It's also funny hearing it when even the vocals overlap. That sudden "in tune" sensation.
Anyway, I guarantee you you'd find other examples out there. Not of Nippleback, but many, many pop acts.
Man I heard this like two years ago. But yeah they suck. Seriously wtf is that song Photograph, awful.

I only ask because I just heard three songs in a row by him where they were in the same key, same chord progressions, and almost identical vocals.

He's a boring singer who plays the same three chords in every song imaginable. Just like Nickelback.
You see, pop music, be it country, Nu Metal, or rock, it's all the same. Someone generic with an image. If Cash didn't have his rebel image, he'd just be another borderline crooner never was.

In all honesty, I think Our Lady Peace is better. Well, until they let Bob Rock produce their albums. (You have a unique voice, Raine. How about, instead of using it to your advantage, you sing like everyone else!)
I don't hate all Nickelback songs. They have some songs that differ from the norm that are really good. "Animals" is a good example.
As far as Cash goes. He was a lot smarter than people give him credit for. The drums that sound like a locomotive. His songs sound a lot alike, but he adds something most "Crooners" don't have: Emotion. A lot of the stuff you hear is soul-less crap. He has a way of making people feel what he is singing. I have his Box Set "Love, God, Murder." Brilliant stuff.

Oh, on a semi related note (THEY ALL SOUND THE SAME!) Someone argued with me yesterday that people only said that about Linkin Park because of the singer's unique voice.
No, it had nothing to do with the fact that they're almost all played in the same key with almost identical intros and main riffs...IT was how Unique Chester is.

This is why they sell so well. People want to hear the same song over and over again. It does slightly amaze me that they made no effort to disguise it, by say playing it in a different key (Fuck, even if your guitarist only knows those four chords, GET A CAPO FOR 20 BUCKS).

Most pop bands have song writers so they don't need to worry about what it sounds like. The most annoying thing is when the songwriter can't be fucked writing a new song, especially when they work for multiple bands. An example of this is The Veronica's "Forever" & Pink's "You & your hand".
I don't think Nickleback are too bad. They're not my favourite band, but they're better than stuff like James Blunt, Cold Play, and most Pop songs.

Most pop bands have song writers so they don't need to worry about what it sounds like.
So...The reason Johnny Cash can make every sound sound identical is because he had external songwriters?
Or the Beatles?
I'm not sure your point. A lot of people have external songwriters, but how does that excuse those that don't? Pop music has always been about making something mainstream and familiar. Nippleback may be too lazy or whatever, but so was Cash. So were a lot of pop musicians who won't ever receive this kind of scrutiny because everyone's too busy loving them.
Indulgent drivel? You sir, are no gentleman. :n:
Well...I'll reshape what I said a little, the regular studio stuff I've heard is really not bad at all...But just...Down the Spiral, Further Down the Spiral, Spiraltastic, Spiraltastic 2 etc...He spends more time unecessarily remixing his work than he does creating new stuff:rant:
