I noticed there wasn't one. Unusual, it starts in two minutes. I can't be bothered putting together a big intro though. Maybe there is one somewhere. Is ANYONE watching this???

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:01 PM
Well, Ric Flair, Sgt Slaughter, Dusty Rhodes and Ron Simmons w/ Arn Anderson vs. Spirit Squad w/Mitch to kick things off.

I remember a day when I couldn't even fathom not buying a Survivor Series PPV, now I can't begin to think of a reason WWE could trick me into ordering any PPV.

NeanderCarl

I'll do play-by-play for anyone who's interested.

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:07 PM
I'm on a two minute delay though. Sky+, ya see.

Simmons and Mikey starting off.

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:08 PM
Simmons counted out within seconds.

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:08 PM
Mitch has been barred from ringside too.

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:09 PM
Arn Anderson has ALSO been barred from ringside.

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:10 PM
The referee is on a power trip in the first two minutes of this match, and the crowd is NOT happy with how this match is going so far, with chants of BULLSHIT.

I think I speak for everyone when I say, thanks for the updates, but you could just do like one update after every match and give key notes there.

Was gonna order it. But I was going to ask the people here to swing me to do so. Too late now.

What the hell happened already?

NeanderCarl

Johnny with a lame Johnny Go Round that blatently did not touch Sgt Slaughter, but Nicky pins Sarge. This match is a mess so far.

NeanderCarl

I'll forget these things though. My memory sucks. For the elimination matches I'll give updates throughout. For the singles matches, I'll just give you the result at the end.

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:14 PM
Kenny pins Dusty Rhodes with a roll-up. Flair is on his own.

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:15 PM
Actually I think Nicky got eliminated at some point but I missed it. Told you this match was a mess. It's 3 on 1.

Well, Flair's pinned Mikey now, so 2 on 1. I call Kenny as sole survivor.

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:16 PM
Well, there goes my prediction. Flair pins Kenny with a cradle. It's Flair vs Johnny.

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:17 PM
Johnny taps to the figure four, and Flair is sole survivor.

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:17 PM
Can I just say Kenny looks the spitting image of Owen Hart.

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:18 PM
5 on 1 mugging by Spirit Squad at the end of the match. No sign of the legends to make the save.

Benoit vs Guerrero is next.

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:20 PM
Anyway I'm gonna go sit down and enjoy this show in comfort. It cost me fifteen quid! I'll check in with updates every now and again, if anyone actually cares about this PPV

The Squad has been buried so deep they will soon begin to mutate into some variety of mole-people.

The One

Never liked Spirit Squad. So I don't give a fuck. I guess in the end I would take even modern day Flair over any of them. So...whatever...or something.

Also, I like Benoit more than Chavo, but I am hoping Chavo wins tonight.

Rammsteinmad
11-26-2006, 08:32 PM
A bunch of old has-beens has beating the Spirit Squad?

Also, Simmons and Andersons being knocked out straight away... I take it neither of them can pull out many moves then.

Rammsteinmad
11-26-2006, 08:34 PM
Benoit VS Chavo COULD be match of the night. I want Benoit to win as I'm a Benoit mark, but I'd love to see this match elevate Chavo to the main event, where I feel he's belonged for years.

To be honest, barring a Cobra Clutch, Flair was the only "old has-been" to get much offence in during the match. Anderson was not a competitor in the match either, he was just a ringside enforcer. I agree it was pretty lame seeing Simmons and Anderson leave within seconds, especially considering Simmons got the biggest pop of anyone in the match.

Lita vs Mickie is up next...

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:40 PM
Backstage, Cryme Tyme steal all of Lita's belonging from her locker room. And the women's title match is on...

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 08:51 PM
Lita just hit the best moonsault she's ever performed... you know, it didn't look like she nearly killed herself for once. Shame she's finally learned to do that in her last match. Mickie hits the Impaler DDT for the 3 count and Mickie is the new champ.

NeanderCarl

Was the Benoit/Guerrero match any good?

Not really. A bit too short to build up any momentum.

Lita gets Lilian Garcia to demand a warm ovation for her final appearance. The fans boo. Lita says the fans don't show her any respect, and she can't think of a better crowd to leave in front of. Cryme Tyme show up with the box of Lita's stuff and says they are going to have a Ho-lesale. They start selling Lita's stuff to the crowd, including her medication for a "yeast infection". JBL buys Lita's panties and sniffs them. WTF? JBL gives them $100 and they stiff him on the change. They find her vibrator in the box. This is getting a bit sick really. A fan gives $25 for LITA'S USED VIBRATOR. Yeah, Attitude still reigns in the WWE.

Now they're out of items, and are selling Lita's BIG BOX. Yeah.

Lita doesn't get quite the sendoff that Trish did.

JBL says he will dig up Johnny Cochrane and sue Cryme Tyme.

Batista gives him best interview in years by saying literally nothing while Michael Cole reels off questions to him. They replay the contract signing attack from SmackDown. (Why has nobody ever learnt to be aware of a potential attack when signing a contract in the ring? I don't think I've EVER seen a contract signing end without an attack.)

Batista finally breaks his silence, with just one sentence. "I'm leaving tonight the World heavyweight champion". Best interview he's ever done.

NeanderCarl

One pedigree later, and Team DX survive as a whole.

JR claims that no full team has ever won a Survivor Series match before. I can think of at least one off the top of my head (Jim Duggans team at Survivor Series '91) and I'm not PAID to know these things as a PROFESSIONAL. Even Lawler thinks Team DX is the first full team to survive.

NeanderCarl

Man this "First Full Team To Survive" remark has been bugging me, so I just did some research, and a team called The Royal Family (Captain's name? Jerry 'The King' Lawler!) survived unscathed at Survivor Series 1994 over Doink The Clown's Clowns R Us team. And it was Lawler who was insisting that Team DX were the first full team ever to win a match at Survivors!!!

Man, the commentary pairing of JR and King are really treading water nowadays.

NeanderCarl
11-26-2006, 09:44 PM
The Four Doinks (Bushwhackers and Men On A Mission) also won their match at Survivor Series 1993 without losing a single member, as did The Visionaries (Power and Glory, Warlord and Rick Martel) at Survivor Series 1990, for those who care.

So that's FIVE whole teams to survive.

This is the exact same as how (I was watching Wrestlemania 19 the other day) Lesnar kicked out of the Angle Slam and Cole and Taz were all "OMG! No ones ever kicked out of the Angle Slam", never mind the fact that at the Royal Rumble just two months earlier Chris Benoit kicked out of two Angle Slams.

Undertaker bladed himself ready for MVP to hit him with a chair but MVP was late on cue, which meant Taker was standing there brawling with Kennedy for about 15 seconds with blood pouring from his forehead before the chairshot which allegedly bust him open.

Anyway, Missssssssssssssssta Kennedddddddddy wins this one.

NeanderCarl

Taker hit Kennedy with a rather sick chairshot after the match, busting Ken open. Then he hit him with the Tombstone piledriver. Random note: I wish Taker would go back to wearing the homemade rags he used to wear when he first debuted. They just added to his character so much more than the skintight spandex the so-called "Dead Man" wears nowadays.

I agree. I think there are a ton of people in TNA that RVD could have very high quality matches with consistently. Less work schedule = more high risk moves more often. Not this watered down version of him. I might actually watch wrestling again. Of course, that's just the RVD mark in me talking.

Well, if this show had been free in the UK like a lot of our PPVs are, I would have been slightly more satisfied by it. However, fifteen quid for this show feels like I got ripped off a bit.

It felt very rushed, nothing much of note occurred, no storyline developments, no new notable feuds, no turns, nothing. The only lasting difference this show made was in crowning Batista as the new champion. Pretty weak PPV in all, unfortunately.

Just watched it, enjoyed it to be honest, nice few laughs out of it.

Cryme Tyme are the win, the first segment them walking into Lita's ressing room was funny - Then for them to come out starting to sell her stuff brought out a good few laughs.

I didnt know what the box was, to be honest i thought it was like a pregnency kit or something - But a post here says it was Yeast infection, hohum!

Second laugh was with Shawn Michaels - twice. First when he Sweet Chinned Mike Knox, and started questioning "If he was meant to be in the ring, and where he come from" that had me giggling.

Second was when he was with Nitro and he slid to the outside, making Melina think Michaels was Nitro - the reactions were comical.

The final one was when the Little Bastard run into the ring while Kane/Big Show was there, and stood between them... lol at the size difference

Yeah, this PPV was pretty mediocre. The highlight was CM Punk out-popping DX. That was glorious.

It's sad, because the only logical thing to do with the World Heavyweight Championship, is continue the Batista/Booker feud, and although their match tonight wasn't a complete abortion, I wouldn't say they have the best chemistry. They need to just throw six guys together in a six-man Hell in a Cell Match. Granted, they have the Extreme Elimination Chamber coming up, but short of Ken Kennedy challenging for the World Title, Smackers has nothing.

The Spirit Squad vs. The Legends was interesting to me, simply because it looked like they were going to put the young guys over. Once Dusty Rhodes and Ron Simmons were gone, it should have been easy to give the win to the youngsters, but surprise, surprise: old guys technically win, but still look like chumps. This match didn't help anyone. The only good that can come of it, is if Kenny calls out Johnny on RAW, says he should have survived against Flair, and attacks his leg.

Johnny should have beaten Flair, and then been hailed as leader of The Spirit Squad by Mikey, Nicky and Mitch. Kenny takes exception, and attacks Johnny. There's everything you needed to get from the match. If you wanted to keep The Spirit Squad together, the logical thing to do would have been to have Kenny, Johnny and Mikey survive.

The United States Championship match was good, but not great. Chavo looked solid in the ring, but the marks probably think of him as a total bitch, as he had a lot of outside help, yet still couldn't secure the title. He should probably win it on SmackDown! this week.

The Women's Championship match was very similar to the World Heavyweight Championship match. It started off shittish, but then picked up steam towards the end. I quite enjoyed Cryme Tyme. Lita is an awful actress. I guess they're setting up for a Rated-RKO/Cryme Tyme match for the World Tag Team Championship. That should be...something.

It was good to see Mr. Kennedy defeat The Undertaker, but Taker looked far too strong here. What as so hard about having MVP just waffle the Dead Man with a steel chair? It puts him over as a heel on par with Kennedy, and it gives Ken his much needed win. A double-turn here would have been sweet, but the WWE don't have the balls to really put faith in Mr. Kennedy.

Did Big Show really need to pin everyone he did? I think the match would have been much more effective if Kane survived, as well as John Cena and Bobby Lashley. One guy from RAW, one guy from ECW and one guy from Smackers. It seems as if it is a coin toss between CM Punk and Bobby Lashley at December to Dismember.

If I were the WWE, I'd put the ECW World Championship on CM Punk. He was by far the star of the night, and he's still yet to lose a match. He's the real kind of undefeated, and they can make that mean something for ECW heading into WrestleMania. Punk for World Champion! It's not too early.

No, no, no.

As much as I LOVE Punk, I do NOT want him winning at DtD.

Have Lashley win, then turn heel by siding with Heyman.

Have them build up Punk as the next in line.

You have Lashley, the monster heel vs. Punk, the super over all-around babyface as your ECW ME at Wrestlemania for the ECW Title.

THEN you have Punk win.

No he has struggled with that move for years, his feet always hit before his body does

And as far as the PPV goes, I am very disapointed

I thought that this would be the best WWE PPV in a while and I was very wrong, I feel bad for believing in the WWE and being fooled by them that they might put on a good show for fourty bucks

I'm glad i didn't order this in the end, this could've been their best ppv all year and they fucked it up so typically. :D

Punk out popped Hunter & Michaels? Not suprised, and yet at the same time fairly sure this means he is about to be jobbed out since his push in WWE's eyes is obviously not working out.

It wasn't great, but it was fun, probably the most fun I've had watching a PPV in a while.

Lita's box! It's wide, it's huge and you can fit your head in it

Fuck up or no fuck up, TNA would have him there tomorrow if they could.

And he would prob end up getting a bigger push than Angle, coz he's less injury prone and less likely to die.

Might sound harsh, but...

Yah, i'm sure he'd pull up and see Dixie Carter holding a white sign that says " Welcome RVD, you may rape and pillage my whole TNA roster now."

Is anyone else absolutely furious about the way they booked this one? I'm in the process of writing a letter to WWE that will be promptly ignored.

Man, the commentary pairing of JR and King are really treading water nowadays.

actually i think it was the first FIVE person team that completely survived...the other teams were only 4 person...so they werent wrong by that account

Who says TNA booking is bad?

Come on, this coulda been the best PPV of the year, and it sounds friggin' terrible.

Was ok enough, had both its good moments and bad ones. All those botches/miss timed moves in the last couple of minutes of Team Cena vs Team Big Show :nono:

I actually thought it was a fun ppv to watch. The DX stuff had me rolling, especially when Shawn didn't know who Knox was. Taker's chairshot to Kennedy was pretty sick, especially that the chair got stuck to him. Though I hated how bad it made Kennedy look that someone else made Taker bleed, yet Kennedy gets his ass kicked afterwards.

From what I have read the two big 5 on 5 elimination matches did not get much time. Those matches really need to be given 25-30 minutes to allow for a great match. I havn't seen the show, but it seems like a dissapointment to most people, which is sad considering the card did have the potential to be strong.

terrible PPV, looked good on paper but was let down by crappy booking. The legends vs Spirit Squad was easily the worst match of the night. Dusty Rhodes looked awful in the ring. As much as I hate the Spirit Squad, it does them no favours to have them lose to a bunch of guys who are 5 years away from getting their bus pass.

My main gripe was the Dx Vs RKo match. For the last 3 years the WWE have been building up Orton on a sole survivor streak, and they mentioned it before the match started. When it went to 5 vs 1, I thought they would have Orton go over the 5 of them and be sole survivor. Instead they pissed those 3 years of build up away in 30 seconds when HHH pedigreed him.

And its sad to see Batista be World Champ again :( :(

I thought it was a great PPV. Matches were great. But I think I'm just easily pleased as I say this about most PPV's.

Dunno if this has been posted, but anyone else see some WWE guy confiscate the "Thank you Lita" sign in the front row after her match? Lol.

That'd be pretty sweet. I don't trust the WWE to pull it off, though.

Bobby Lashley and CM Punk should be the final two guys in the Chamber at DtD, with Heyman screwing Punk. Phil Brooks' streak needs to end with dignity. Bobby Lashley as ECW's replacement heel for Big Show works. Building CM Punk as the new Rob Van Dam, screwed out of the World Title, chasing for it heading into WrestleMania, works as well.

I'd just hope the WWE didn't fuck it up somehow.
