I was just wondering if anyone has had these similar problems. I borrowed The Sims from a friend. Now, I cleaned my lens and all other games work fine. I put the game in last night and it loaded fine. Today, I went to play the game, and I get a Disc Read Error. Anyone ever have this? I just don't understand how the game can load fine one day and then not work the next.

I had that problem as part of the degeneration of my PS2 as far as the whole Disc Read error degeneration progression.

Looks like it's time to just go buy a new PS2 then?

Call Sony, tell them no matter what you do you get a disk read error (on all games). They'll give you an adress, and fix it for free. All you do is pay shipping and handling and live without your PS2 for a bit

One problem....my friend kind of broke the seal voiding the warranty on it. So, won't they refuse it then?

There's an FAQ on gamefaqs.com regarding that.

you'd have to check it for sure...

Just copy and paste it, I don't think it would work if you directly clicked on it. :y:

Yeah, it doesn't work if you follow the link, but if you copy it into your browser...

It's just the lens problem. You can take it apart and swab the lens or just use the disk cleaner more often. Just give it a couple restarts and it should load eventually. Mine does that too but it's not a big deal.

I assure you, it gets to be a big deal. It's just slower on some.
