PWInsider.com is reporting that many "e-federations", which are online fanatasy leagues about pro wrestling, have been receiving legal letters from World Wrestling Entertainment in regards to copyright infringement. A good portion of the complaints have to do with the use of WWE owned images and videos. Stole this from www.captionwrestling.com (http://www.captionwrestling.com). That's www.captionwrestling.com (http://www.captionwrestling.com), your one stop shop for all your C-feding needs.

E-Feds are so 2001.
But none-the-less, will the madness never end?
I'm surprised they haven't sued Ebay yet.

Well, since we host our images on ImageShack, they can't really come after us, can they?

Yes they can. It is possible to own a copyright on a photograph or video recording. Unless you were joking. Dammit, I can't fucking tell.

They did this once before. Corky MAY be alluding to the thought that they're targeting people using their bandwidth, who are the easiest to find.

To answer your question, no. Just no. Fuckin' give up hope and strap in for a wild ride. The madness shall never end. Pretty soon the WWE will crack down on this board for the use of their wrestlers in our avatars. The madness shall never end to me, damnit.

^^ Yeah, sorta. My point was that we are not stealing their bandwidth, nor are most of our pictures even taken from their web site. Most of them are taken from fan sites and then hosted on ImageShack. They are also posted on the GCW boards, but nothing is actually hosted on www.captionwrestling.com
So to really justify taking legal action on us (say that were to ever occur), they would first have to force the fan sites to take their photos down. Then they'd have to force ImageShack and Photobucket to remove their galleries of wrestling photos that we've uploaded onto their servers. THEN they might be able to shut us down, but trying to do so before hand is sort of stupid because we aren't the primary sources.
This is just based on the premise that, as far as I know, any time WWE has ever gone after a site, it was because that site was distributing said photos, theme songs, etc... Not because a site was, in effect, displaying them off a third party host.

They'd have a hard time going after you guys anyway.
IK mean, legally they could, as you're still using their images. But they'd be much harder pressed.
It'd be like the RIAA suing my mother for downloading music, too. Sure, they could take action against her for the FOUR songs she's downloaded in her life, but it'd be small potatoes, and any legal fees incurred would be far more problematic than the "loss" incurred.

Isn't it OK as long as no one's making profit off of it?

You'd think that's how it would work. I mean, everyone loves free advertising. But nooooooooooooooooo. Can't have a little bit of free fun in this day and age.

George Lucas will be going after Jabba for his avatar.
It's clear that his avatar is nothing more than someone using the force.

Personally, I don't see the appeal of E-Feds, perhaps because I'm a grumpy bastard.
Like the WWE, obviously, due to this latest BS. I would have thought that anything that raises the profile of their business (through no work of their own) would be a benefit rather than a problem.
Like in Europe, a radio show called A State Of Trance is broadcast live, and then downloaded illegally millions of times a week. The host of the show says that anything that gets it extra exposure is great, and without the downloads the show wouldn't be half as popular. The DJ in question is a multi-millionaire.
WWE, learn.

The problem is in this country, all the big businesses insist that these things hurt their business.
WWE did learn. From Metallica, Sony, and Hitler. It's a well-known fact that the Holocaust began because JEws were downloading German anthems off of Sheister.
...Man, that was horrible. I'm almost ashamed to have posted that. Well, I would be, if I had a shame sensor.
