View Full Version : Wrestling Society X to go Head-to-Head with ECW
MTV will begin airing “Wrestling Society X” on Tuesday, January 30th at 10:30 eastern and pacific. This of course means that the show will go up head-to-head with ECW on Sci Fi. MTV will air ten episodes of the show which will combine wrestling with live music performances. Bands confirmed for the series include Deftones, Good Charlotte, and New Found Glory.
The wrestling end of the show will be handled by Big Vision producer Kevin Klinerock, Vampiro, and Cody Michaels. Klinerock is a former XPW official and Vampiro will act as head writer for the project.
Wrestling talent confirmed for the project includes Ruckus, Vampiro, Sean Waltman, Jack Evans, Matt Sydal, Lizzy Valentine, Teddy Hart, The Human Tornado, Dragon's Gate stars Masato Yoshino and Genki Horiguchi, Colt Cabana, Jimmy Jacobs, Ricky Banderas, Aaron Aguilera, B-Boy and others. The series was taped in its entirety last month in Los Angeles.
Not a bad line-up, to be honest. I think this could be real good.

deftones are good
I'll TiVo it and check it out. I doubt it'll be great, though. I heard the entire thing was scripted and was run more like a TV show than a wrestling show (more-so than WWE).
I think I read they pulled the "you must cheer for so-and-so" and actually retaped parts. Hope I'm wrong...

I'd laugh if it ends up decimating ECW in the ratings.

It will actually be a picture book consisting of 4 pages...Waltman, Colt, Lashley and Dreamer...and that's about it

Music and wrestling...man, good thing no one running a company came up with THAT before.

I'd find it funny if TNA Impact! goes head to head with WWE RAW. Then Wrestling Society X goes head to head with ECW on Sci Fi. Then another wrestling company to goes head to head with WWE Smack Down!

Can someone tell me why the letter x is used so much in wrestling? Just makes it seem more like a kids things to me for some reason.

And yeah you guys should know that this is gonna be a TV show more than a wrestling. They've actually been turning unattractive people away from the audience in SoCal and only letting in more camera friendly people.

There's actually some great talent here. Everyone is focusing on x-pac.
Horiguchi, Ruckus, Jack Evans, Sydel, Yoshino, cabana, gibson. Havn't seen the rest in action, but these guys alone will get me to tune in.

It's MTV. They're mixing pop music and wrestling. I don't think Bret Hart vss Kurt Angle could give me an ounce of confidence in them, Pac or no Pac.
