View Full Version : What if wrestling as we know it now was actually boxing?

What would be different (besides the main style) had Vince Sr. never changed over to wrestling? What if, when Vince Jr. bought out his father's Boxing league (or even before then), they started running it wrestling (as we know it now/then) style, storylines, all scripted, worked fights, etc.

Would boxing (wrestling) ever have gotten as big as it has? Would boxing be the big thing instead of wrestling? Would the NWA have succeeded (yes, the NWA, in this scenario, would have existed)? How much different would the product really be?

This was just one of those odd thoughts I get once in a while...

This thread reminded me of a boxing competition WWE had several years back culminating with Bart Gunn vs Butterbean at Wrestlemania XV [15].

Fuck, it may as well be boxing considering how many "punches" are thrown each match.

If Vince bought out Boxing, the World Boxing Federation would be beaten by its rival the IBF for 83 weeks until he injected the WBF with some Attitude, drive the IBF out of business, do an invasion angle that will flop and be forced to change its name to World Boxing Entertainment because of the real WBF...

I thought this out too much.
