So yeah, i'm gonna try to keep this thread updated as more teams get announced. I also plan on attending all 3 nights of this.

From www.chikarapro.com

Last February, we ushered out an old CHIKARA tradition, and ushered in a new era for our company. The annual Tag World Grand Prix, a monstrous tag team tournament that dated back to 2003, was laid to rest as we finally crowned Campeones de Parejas. With Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli victorious in the tournament, and with CHIKARA gold proclaiming them the finest tag team in the world, the need for a Tag World Grand Prix had expired. So, this coming February, we're going to give you crazy CHIKARA fans your tournament fix, have no fear. But it won't be tag team overload like you've come to expect from our Season Premiere. When we return to action on Friday night, February 16th of 2007, it will be with the first night of a little something we call "King of Trios."

http://www.theddt.com/sites/mikequackenbush/chikarapro/images/Trio1.jpg
Previously announced for the tournament is a trio packed with charismatic rudo goodness. Two past CHIKARA stars will return to the fold to join CHIKARA regular "Sweet n' Sour" Larry Sweeney for King of Trios. "Simply Marvelous" Mitch Ryder is back on the scene after a long absence, and he joins forces with his protege-by-osmosis Larry Sweeney, and the legendary Robbie Ellis, of Sports Illustrated fame. Ellis, just back from a tour of Italy, marks his return to a CHIKARA ring after last visiting us in 2003 during our Allentown run.

http://www.theddt.com/sites/mikequackenbush/chikarapro/images/Trio2.jpg
The second trio entered into our tournament consisted of Chris Hero and the members of the Kings of Wrestling, Icarus and Gran Akuma. At our event "Brick," these three men brutalized Claudio Castagnoli, but FIST acted only under the direction of Hero. Tired of playing Hero's lapdogs, FIST has ousted Hero from their tournament trio, and are claiming to have a third partner ready to go, but this partner has not yet been announced. How this change of command within the Kings of Wrestling stable will affect Hero is as of yet unknown.

http://www.theddt.com/sites/mikequackenbush/chikarapro/images/Trio4.jpg
The third trio entered into King of Trios is a stable of CHIKARA regulars now known as "The Order of the Neo Solar Temple." UltraMantis Black, the leader of the trio, recently recruited Crossbones, the heavyweight horror, into his ranks. Mantis summoned Hydra from the depths of unknown ambiguities in November 2005, and the two have been largely inseparable, barring a brief spat over a Savage Garden mix tape, ever since. The Neo Solar Temple represents the third straight team of rudos entered into King of Trios.

http://www.theddt.com/sites/mikequackenbush/chikarapro/images/Trio5.jpg
TNA is on the rise, much like the three stars being sent to us straight outta the TNA X Division. The team of Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt and Alex Shelley will make their way to CHIKARA come February, to represent TNA in our King of Trios tournament. Aside from their TNA accomplishments, Sabin and Shelley are a championship tag team duo with Zero One Max in Japan, and Dutt, a hero in his native India, made his way up through the ranks of CZW before becoming a breakout star on the national scene. All the paperwork has been properly filed this time around, and Leonard Chikarason and Jim Cornette are both pleased to have Sabin, Dutt and Shelley as part of King of Trios.

A new team has been added

http://www.theddt.com/sites/mikequackenbush/chikarapro/images/Trio6.jpg
Together, the brothers Thomaselli - Sal, Brandon and Vito - form the Iron Saints, a trio of diverse grapplers with unique ring styles and specialties that come to us from IWA: Mid-South. The Iron Saints first appeared in a CHIKARA ring back in February of 2006, when the final Tag World Grand Prix rolled through Hellertown. Most recently, they joined Larry Sweeney's squad at our 3rd annual Torneo Cibernetico, opposing Eddie Kingston and the tecnicos. The Iron Saints return to CHIKARA action when we ring in our 2007 season at King of Trios!

"The Order of the Neo Solar Temple."

^ They HAVE to win this. UltraMantis Black is the greatest thing in CHIKARA.

You'd guess wrong. Just because it's Lucha doesn't mean it's good. In the first one they weren't even wrestling. They were dancing. And the second wasn't Lucha at all. It was just like a thousand shitty matches I see in every Indy fed I go to. Terrible. (I like some Chikara ftr, but that was crap.)

Not for nothing it was only like 2-3 minutes of each match. Now I shall share one of my favorite Eddie Kingston promos from Chikara.

I'm not a huge fan of Storm or King either, although Storm has gotten a lot better since he dropped the weight. He'll get better with time, he's still very green. King just seems to think he's Kobashi though, although I agree he has some great promos.

Anytime I want to show someone a Chikara match I just link to the youtube of Quack vs Claudio at Negative Balance. Great, great little 10 minute match.

Another team has been added

http://www.theddt.com/sites/mikequackenbush/chikarapro/images/Trio7.jpg
The tag team of The Colony, Fire Ant and Soldier Ant, recently became a trio with the debut of Worker Ant just a couple months back. Now, the recently expanded Colony has turned their luck around, taking wins in trios matches over the likes of Los Ice Creams, Lance Steel, and some of ROH's up-and-comers. February of 2006 marked the debut of The Colony, can February of 2007 mark their ascension to the top of the CHIKARA ladder? There is no better place to make a name then at King of Trios...

Mr. Monday Morning

A new team has entered

http://www.theddt.com/sites/mikequackenbush/chikarapro/images/Trio8.jpg
Joining us in February is a threesome of California-based independents that make their home at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. The stable known up and down the west coast as "The Dynasty" will be well-represented come King of Trios. With Joey Ryan, the long-reigning PWG champion, leading the charge, the Dynasty's own Scott Lost and Chris Bosh will make their CHIKARA debuts when we kick off our 2007 season. These three will hold a marked advantage over some of the recently formed trios entering the tournament, as the Dynasty has been working as a unit since the spring of 2006. Independent of this, Bosh and Lost have been a championship caliber tag team dating back to 2004.

Mr. Monday Morning
12-19-2006, 07:06 AM
That's totally unexpected and awesome, even though I think Joey's not that great and Bosh is horribly overrated (I probably haven't seen enough of any of them tbh)

Dunno from what I've seen that's probably more to do with Generico. But again, I haven't seen that much so I need to reserve judgement a little.

This next trios is brought to you with holiday cheer.

http://www.theddt.com/sites/mikequackenbush/chikarapro/images/Trio9.jpg
At our final 2006 event, "Talent Borrows; Genius Steals," a seemingly random collection of wrestlers proceeded to steal the show. Cheech and Cloudy teamed with Incoherence for an epic Atomico that saw the unlikely quartet emerge victorious over UltraMantis Black's "Order of the Neo Solar Temple." Four men, however, do not a trio make. So, with Delirious committed elsewhere the opening nights of King of Trios, Hallowicked will unite with former "Deliriouscito" Cheech, and one-time "Hallowickedcito" Cloudy for tournament action when we kickoff our 2007 season.

A new year brings new trios entrants

http://www.theddt.com/sites/mikequackenbush/chikarapro/images/Trio12.jpg
Officially entering the tournament are Los Ice Creams, the frozen brothers from Mexicali, Mexico that first appeared in a CHIKARA ring back at Young Lions Cup IV. Like they do for most luchadores, trios matches come naturally, and that's no surprise - but we here at CHIKARA were surprised to find out that Los Ice Creams apparently have another treat up their sleeves for us. While we currently do not know specifics, as of today, a trio simply called "Los Ice Creams" are confirmed entrants for February's King of Trios tournament.

http://www.theddt.com/sites/mikequackenbush/chikarapro/images/Trio13.jpg
Eddie Kingston suffered a terrible injury at CZW's Cage of Death 8 event, leaving him unable to participate in February's King of Trios tournament. However, Kingston has brought together a trio of his compatriots to do battle. While the Black Out stable has appeared in various incarnations over the years, Kingston has handpicked a trio he feels has a winning chance in our trios tourney. Back together again are Joker, Sabian, and in his CHIKARA debut, the high-flying Ruckus. Not only will this mark the first time these three have teamed in a CHIKARA ring, it also marks their reunion after several months apart.

Apparently FIST have kicked Hero out of their team - I can't even remember where I saw this but it seems a bit strange...

and on that note I feel stupid for not mentioning this incredible trios

http://www.theddt.com/sites/mikequackenbush/chikarapro/images/Trio10.jpg
The popular trio of Jigsaw, Shane Storm and "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush have officially entered February's King of Trios tournament. Our season premiere will mark Jigsaw's return to action, after being sidelined for several months with a knee injury. The team has certainly amassed an impressive array of accomplishments in the past few years; Jigsaw won our very first Cibernetico and went on to hold the Young Lions Cup. Shane Storm won Young Lions Cup III, and that same year, took the mask of Gran Akuma. Quack, the veritable "Master of a Thousand Holds," took the trophy at "Best of the Best V" and has captained his two proteges to several 6-man victories. They have unfinished business with the Hero/Akuma/Icarus trio, for it was in trios action against those three that Jigsaw was injured earlier in 2006.

Not even work can kee me from udating this as 2 more trios have been announced.

http://www.theddt.com/sites/mikequackenbush/chikarapro/images/Trio14.jpg

Next month at King of Trios, our reigning Young Lions Cup champion Max Boyer returns to action flanked by two of his fellow countrymen. The Canadian trio captained by Boyer will also feature Jagged and Shane Matthews, the duo better known as 2.0. Matthews and Jagged made their CHIKARA debuts at the final Tag World Grand Prix (last February), and since then, several stars from the White Liberal North have made their way south - including Boyer. The Young Lions Cup champion not only unseated Arik Cannon for the trophy, but seems to have earned the attention of the Kings of Wrestling in the process.

http://www.theddt.com/sites/mikequackenbush/chikarapro/images/Trio15.jpg

Once again, the month of February will see the CHIKARA ring graced with talent from Japan's DDT promotion. Captained by Dick Togo trainee Nobutaka Moribe, the trio includes Danshoku Dino, and cult-favorite American Balloon. This will be the first time these competitors have wrestled under the CHIKARA banner, and they aren't the only talent from DDT making their way to King of Trios. In addition to this somewhat-strange threesome, another DDT wrestler will see non-tournament action on Night 3 of King of Trios...

With King of trios a month away we already have 12 and 2/3rds of competitors announced. One has to wonder who will be the next teams announced as well as what will the non tournament matches be. Well stay tuned to this thread same chikara time, same chikara channel. (I've always wanted to say that)

Finally got to see a full Chikara show (Talent Borrows, Genius Steals). They're not a terrible fed. Granted, occasionally they're barely a step above a backyard fed, but it's solidly entertaining.

Mr. Monday Morning

It's weird, outside of some combination of Quackenbush/Hero/Claudio/one or two other guys they don't really have stellar matches in the same vein as say ROH or whatever. But they are ABSURDLY entertaining, especially for what is essentially a student fed.

Blitz I urge you to check out King of Trios once it's out because their Feb shows are always when they throw everything out there. They have Create-a-Wrestler, for God's sake.
