This comes from a discussion I was having in casual last night. Anyway the point is I must have missed something, as in my opinion it was very badly written and directed and was generally a quite shithouse movie, save for the acting of Willem Dafoe.

So, here's your chance to explain to me what was actually good about it. Everyone else seems to love it and this confuses me greatly, so gimme some perspective here.

It's basically an excuse for people to watch their frustrated violent fantasies played out, gunning down people they consider to be 'bad guys,' outsmarting the incompetent authorities, all the while spouting out quasi-religious quotes to make it sound like it's deep. Just like the JTHM comics and the like.

I thought some of the dialogue was pretty funny, but that's about it.

I only saw this movie once and I was blackout drunk. I don't remember any of it.

It was pretty good. Seems like one of those love it or hate it types with little inbetween.

Love it or leave it alone.

Yeah, it's definitely one of those love it or hate it flicks. I loved it. Good performances, hilarious dialogue.

This is probably the most overrated movie of all time. I have only watched it once like four years ago but I remember being horribly disappointed because everyone sucks this movie's dick so much and I thought it kind of sucked balls to be honest.

There is a documentary about the guy who made this and how basically he pissed off everyone in Hollywood he came across, including Harvey Weinstein, since he thought he was gonna be the next great director or some shit. I will have to track down the name of it.

It is pretty much the greatest movie ever. It is one of those love or hate movies, and I am one of the people who loves it obviously. It is kinda a 'cult favorite' you could say, since it never originally went to theatres due to Columbine I believe.

Dunno, thought it was pretty obnoxious that the blurb on the back said 'the film Tarantino could have made'. And then it didn't live up to that either.

Yeah, pretty much what Triple A said. Everyone bums it up so much and told me I had to see it, then I saw it and it was quite disappointing. Not sure what ppl see in it tbh

Honestly, I find Tarantino to be pretty overrated, but that's just me.

Tarantino is a story for another day and/or thread.

Pulp Fiction is one of my top flicks though, so I can't say I am completely against him.

Kill Bill was pretty self-indulgent, but apart from that his other films are golden (except possibly Jackie Brown, due to me not having seen it yet).

Of course, this could all be discussed at another time/thread.

Nah, was pretty obsessed with this movie like 7 years ago. Not quite sure why. Haven't seen it in a few years. It's no where near a perfect film but enjoyable none the less. I like the story and some of the dialogue is actually pretty funny. Dafoe is awesome as usual. I'd say it's a mediocre movie overall but still really enjoyable.

It really is a like it or hate movie, especially due to the following it has received over the years. I can totally understand why someone wouldn't like it.

Dunno, maybe just a lot of people want to like it so they can be 'that person' who liked a movie that was never released in cinemas, so they can see themselves as some kind of movie buff.

just hypothesisin'

It seems a requirement at college to like it. Seriously, everyone talks about it.
