Of the former RoH World Heavyweight Champions, Samoa Joe and CM Punk, who do you think is the bigger star? Arguements to be had on both ends, lets go to the tale of the tape...

Samoa Joe
http://www.tnawrestling.com/roster/images/icons/samoajoe.jpg

Accomplishments under TNA contract
*Current a main eventer of TNA
*Recently made Kurt Angle tap out on PPV
*Year and a half unpinned and never tapped
*2-time X-Division Champion

CM Punk
http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/7461/3782722yb3.jpg

Accomplishments under WWE contract
*Arguably WWE's ECW Brand's most over star
*Made his WWE PPV debut teaming with Hardyz & DX and was in the Main Event at D2D
*Had a several month undefeated streak
*OVW's World, Tag, and TV Champion

Both of them are former RoH World Heavyweight Champs, but they went different directions. The question I pose is who is the bigger star. I think clearly Samoa Joe has enjoyed more victories and higher honors, but they were for a promotion that pulls in .8 to 1.2 ratings. While CM Punk's accomplishments may not be as note worthy, they were for a WWE Brand of Television, that despite being the obvious C-Show of the WWE umbrella, it still pulls in 2 to 3 times the amount of viewers that TNA does. So who do you think is the bigger star? Again, this isn't who you like more (though that would be interesting to know as well) this is who is the bigger name.

CM Punk...easily.

What Would Kevin Do?

Punk, simply because WWE has much farther reach.

I would say Punk. Just for the fact that I'd bet WWE's target audience (Cena squealers) have no idea what TNA is, what ROH is or who Samoa Joe is. Then again, I'd bet that the majority of those target audience members had no idea who the hell Punk was until he was a part of Survivor Series.

While we're on the topic, reply with who you like more...

I guess Punk is more popular however I like Joe more

Who I like more is really a toss up, but right now, I'd have to go with Joe. Seeing Joe live in ROH is always badass.

I'd have to go with Joe right now. However, I would love to see Punk in a lengthy fued with RVD though, like old school Jerry Lynn days. Cut out half the bullshit they have on ECW and let them work 20+ minutes. Could have given them 45-60 minutes at the December To Dismember and blown the roof off the place.

I am still hoping they are holding out on RVD/Punk for either Punk's first run with the ECW Belt (as a heel) or (and possibly both) for WrestleMania.

Punk is the biggest star because like Kevin said WWE has further reach and I also happen to like him better as well.

That would be pretty badass. Of course, there's a few questions though. #1- will RVD be around by then. #2- will they let RVD anywhere near a title story line. #3- will RVD be willing to go all out to put Punk over.

Ideally, to me...I'd love to see RVD with the ECW belt for a while and have a few classic matches with Punk where Punk comes up short everytime. Then when he finally wins the belt at a PPV...even maybe Mania, Paul Heyman storms out to the ring from the crowd with Sabu, confronts the two before security can get to the ring.....and all 4 put on TNA/"Fuck you Vince" shirts and leave through the crowd with the belt.

Hey, a guy can dream right?

Punk because WWE's fan base is much larger

I like them both equally I think they are probably equal as far as overness, I find it rare to hear a discussion where they both are not mentioned.

Punk.

I'm not ashamed to admit I'm on the bandwagon. The guy is friggin' awesome though. And his ROH stuff is great.

CM Punk is my pick. Originally I would have said easily, what with his appearance at Survivor Series and all, but now that he's been jobbed to high Hell, and that Samoa Joe has beaten Kurt Angle, I think it has more to do with where the men are currently, rather than what they have accomplished.

CM Punk is my favourite, but Samoa Joe is fucking awesome, as well.

To all those that voted for Punk, Joe is going to kill you.

This is a tough one, Joe is certainly bigger within his company, but CM Punk is a fast rising star in the WWE. It honestly evens out. They're both equally over and recognizable within the wrestling fan community.

As for main stream exposure, Joe certainly gets a rub from being "the guy Kurt Angles fueding with on Spike TV"
But CM Punk edges that out simply because more causual/non-fans will catch him in WWE, the promotion that is a household name.

CM Punk. Who I also like more. I'm more fond of his style. And as awesome Joe is, I think the only thing he doesnt have is "it" (dont pounce on me for this, I like him I'm just saying)
CM punk has a little bit more, and hes way more over with me.

how many wwe fans watch the new ecw it has about the same ratings as tna does, poor punk is on the c show when and if punk moves up to raw then you can say he is bigger then joe.

Joe, nobody watches ECW and at Survivor Series I'd bet people were wondering who the fuck Punk is.

Punk overall.

If we were talking overness in relation to the size of the promotion, I'd put Joe a bit ahead of Punk, but not by much.

Joe, nobody watches ECW and at Survivor Series I'd bet people were wondering who the fuck Punk is.
I was at Survivor Series and EVERYONE knew who the fuck Punk was, even some hardcore marks. That match was so awesome live just for the Punk chants.

Joe, nobody watches ECW and at Survivor Series I'd bet people were wondering who the fuck Punk is.

 You are fucking ignorant you know that?

ECW on Sci-Fi's LOWEST rating to date: July 4th 2006 - 1.4
TNA on Spike's HIGHEST rating to date: May 25th 2006 - 1.2

So on ECW's lowest day ever, there is still more people watch than on TNA's highest day ever. Hmmm, seem that if nobody is around to watch CM Punk, that would mean less than nobody watches Joe.

But don't worry, I'm a big fan of not paying attention to facts either. Hell in my world Kevin Nash really WAS the biggest drawing WWE Champion of all time. He has a chart to prove it too!

I am suprised some of you Joe fans arn't trying to bring up the fact that America isn't the only market to base this off of and when you incorperate Japan and other contries, Samoa Joe may very well be much more over.

Personally I still say Punk, but still...it's at least something...

Kevin Nash should have ended Joe's streak.

I know more people who know about Samoa Joe than CM Punk. A couple of them keep in touch with wrestling, most don't. I'll say Joe.

As for who I like better, I'll say Punk. He's got everything I like in a wrestler. Plus I'm a punk too, so we listen to a lot of the same bands, so I'm probably biased because of this.

As far as the bigger star is concerned, Punk has to win that. WWE reaches a lot more people, thus creating larger stars.

Personally, I enjoy both men equally for very different reasons. If I had to choose, I'd go with Punk.

Punk for both

Joe is overrated as sliced bread

Would you prefer that your bread not be sliced? What a pain in the ass that would be.

Joe, nobody watches ECW and at Survivor Series I'd bet people were wondering who the fuck Punk is.

Also, you can't judge CM Punks star power by the claim on nbody watching the show he happens to be on.
By that logic, you're saying that Joe is more over than RVD too? Or Big Show?
Or why stop there, if the ratings say it all based on the show the wrestlers on, than Masters must be more over than Kurt Angle right? After all Raw draws a 3.7 to Impact's 1.2...
I guess Trevor Murdoch is more over than The Undertaker...
And Kevin Thorn is more over than Sting...

Bottom line is, CM Punk is under the tent of WWE and way over within the company as a whole.
Joe is probably more over within TNA than Punk is within WWE, but still not as much overall due to the WWE's reach.
