View Full Version : Why do you keep watching?

Why do you keep watching wrestling(mainly WWE) if it consistently disappoints you? The majority of the board seems to be unhappy with the current product. From the way people post it seems that week in and week out people are not being entertained by what they see on Raw, Smackdown, and ECW. So why keep watching? For example, I've recent topics and posts from FourFifty about how letdown or disappointed he's been for awhile now. Yet, he keeps tuning in to Raw. I just don't quite understand it. And this isn't a topic made to bash 'marks' or 'smarks' or anything like that. I legitimately don't understand this.

On a side note, I now consider myself a 'casual' fan. I watch (on average) 1-2 shows a month total(Raw, SD!, ECW, TNA). This drop in viewership is not because of a disappointment in the product, but of simple disinterest. I do keep up with what is going on though via the internet.Just thought I should explain a little about how I view wrestling now.

It was just a habit for me, now i just tune in to see if im missing anything and usually realise im not and turn the channel. I'm mainly talking about Raw and ECW, not Smackdown though, that still has its moments.

Habit, I guess. I love wrestling, what more can I say?

I don't watch. I'm now part of a statistic. You know, the one with millions of people who have stopped watching the WWE since it got awful.

I also now consider myself a casual fan because I haven't watched lately because the product has got so bad it has caused disinterest.

I use to tape every single wrestling show every week. Then I started watch them only. Then I started watching most shows of the week. Then I watched at least one show a week. Now I might watch something. Usually I catch one of the Impacts mainly for Nash (I usually stop watching after he's on). RAW gets replayed on the Spanish Channel after CMLL/AAA on Sundays, so sometimes I watch those. I hardly catch ECW or SmackDown anymore.

I still stick around here because if things start to turn themselves around I figure I can gauge reactions. Also, if I hear something extra special I usually go out of my way to at least check them out...usually am let down.

I watch every week because I love professional wrestling. What kind of fan would I be if I gave up when the product sucked, and tuned in when the product was good? I ride out the lows, so that I can appreciate the highs.

I don't watch anymore simply because I broke habit. For years I watched every show religiously. Then I went to college and simply didn't have the time/found other things to do. And when I'm back home I just don't really get the urge to turn on the TV. I am going to this weeks Raw with my friend and my girlfriend though. And I expect to have a legitimate good time. I still find it to be entertaining, I just don't find myself concerned enough to really watch it. Kinda like Lost. I love Lost, I just don't watch it. I've seen seasons 1 and 2 on DVD and all, I just don't watch new episodes.

The only show I watch every week now is RAW, and I'm even starting to skip a majority of that (still haven't watched this week's). As redoneja said, I keep up mainly through the Internet. I don't watch SmackDown! at all and hardly watch ECW. I actually watched a full Impact today, and I may start to make that a habit, although I'm not sure just yet.

I am extremely interested in ROH, I'll admit it, but I don't want to spend the money to buy DVD's just to keep up with their shows, and that's what's mainly putting me off. If they started an internet show I would watch that, but right now I'll probably get some best-of's, if that.

Raw is honestly the worst show on right now.

Sure, there are bad things that can be said about the WWE's wrestling product but there are also good things.

I like to concentrate on the good things and hope that the bad will get fixed accordingly.

That and I love wrestling.

Four months ago the answer would've been something along the lines of "out of habit, because I've loved it for so long and desperately keep coming back to the well, hoping its been refilled with something pure, only to find mildew infested waters."

But honestly, I don't watch WWE anymore. Used to catch it every Monday night, religiously, which turned into taping it every Monday night and watching it later in the week when I had free time, to today, when I find myself out on a Monday night, not even worried about whats going on in RAW land.

I do still try to catch Impact every Thursday night, but that has much more to do with The Office being on at 8:30-9, so it's an easy switch over to SpikeTV to catch an hour of Impact. And I'm usually not disappointed by their product.

I keep watching TNA for the future matches that are to come. With so much talent in the company, I can't wait to see what the next PPV line-up is going to look like: something I can't even come close to saying about WWE.

I don't watch wrestling consistantly anymore. Period.

I watch Smackdown, but it has the most to offer me. One, my ex watches with me on most Fridays, so I'm not watching alone. Wrestling is like drinking...If you watch it alone or before 10 AM, you're sad. ;) Naw, but it's also the more entertaining show. Though at this point, more entertaining merely means "hasn't annoyed me to the point of watching Heroes instead." I won't even defend it as great, just enough that I'm maintaining the habit.

In the inane hope that one day, it will be good once again.

In the inane hope that Carlito will soon be WWE champion.

In the inane hope that Cena will one day be made to look like a btich.

In the inane hope that oen day the titantron will show a countdown 5,4,3,2,1 followed by an firework explosion followed by Jericho.

It's truely hopeless for me, isn't it?

Aside from the first one? Yeah. You might be up a creek.

I'm not a fairweather fan. I truly believe that one day, the WWE will step up its game. Besides, I don't know what the rest of you might think, but I mark out for the BoD, DX, and Sabu.

Because I get the PPVs free through PWTorrents. Otherwise I probably wouldn't watch that much.

I watch for the almost hopeless feeling that what the WWF went through during 1990-2000 will happen again.

Almost hopeless? That became hopeless a long time ago, it just took me a while to realise it.

I watch allmost all the WWE shows...not live...becouse if I watched live I wouldnøt be able to skip all the shit...so it usually takes me about 2 hours to watch Raw, SD! and ECW...

I mostly keep watching well becouse I am still hoping that someday...It will stop sucking...

Londoner

Why not just watch when it stops sucking? I doubt Vince will change his ways if people keep watching...
