LOL. I find it funny how little hype there is for any PPV now a days. How much you wanna bet that WWE puts more than one PPV on during the month of Mania. Dumb fuckers.

Oh and no I'm not watching or anything...

Kane beat MVP.

Apparently the tag match is now a ladder match with MNM and the Hardys added.

The One
12-17-2006, 08:22 PM
So...are the Hardyz and MNM now officially back together? Cause every time they tag (basically every week) it's always supposed to be like "Oh this is a one time special thing!!! OMGz!" And yet, not so much.

I didn't even know there was a Tag bout...is it for the titles? MNM, Hardyz and Kendrick/London in a Ladder Match...well if this match sucks Aleinoid will probably shoot himself in the face.

I normally order most PPVs. I specifically didn't order this one after the last three atrocious PPVs. Survivor Series was a waste of money. Cyber Sunday and ECW I got for free, but were still poor shows.

The only shows I'm willing to pay for in the next few months are Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. Not some shitty SmackDown PPV with the sort of main event we've been seeing on a weekly basis anyway. Have they already had that exact match?

Made me laugh on last weeks show when Batista said "Imagine that! The WWE Champion and the World Champion in the ring at the same time for the first time ever! Never been done before!"

Uh, yeah... apart from about 20 times on SmackDown and the main event of Cyber Sunday.

WWE is treating its fans with sheer contempt. I would suggest the fans, as consumers, should do the same. And not order a PPV which is an insult to most of our intelligence!

Still, having not bought it, I can't comment on the actual quality of the show so far.

Any good? Worth it?

Great show thus far, as to be expected by SmackDown!. London & Kendrick didn't get a chance to do as much as they could have in the ladder match, in my opinion. I mean, the Sliced Bread #2 off the ladder would have been fucking fantastic had it gone perfectly (poor Brian didn't get to rotate...which is understandable off a fucking ladder), but I was hoping for a London Calling somewhere. I think it may have had something to do with the fans being majorly behind The Hardys as well. Good to see the WWE getting the young guys over, let's just hope they follow through. It seems people are getting really excited about the match, though, so that's good.

Let them cut a promo next week (seriously, these guys have talked like...never), and maybe have them team with Matt Hardy against William Regal, Dave Taylor and Joey Mercury (if he's OK). Fuck, put the WWE Cruiserweight Championship on Brian Kendrick, and the WWE United States Championship on Paul London. Give these cunts a push.

I'm still hoping we see an appearance by them in the Lingerie shit coming up. Just to see how the crowd reacts to them, or maybe have them sit down for commentary and hype Ashley's appearance in Playboy.

<font color=white>From WWE.com:

According to WWE Dr. Ferdinand Rios, MNM tag team member Joey Mercury suffered what seems to be a broken nose in tonight's Ladder Match with London & Kendrick, MNM, the Hardys and William Regal & Dave Taylor.

Mercury was rushed to the hospital after one of the ladders smashed him in the face and caused his nose to pour blood. Rios said that without a CT scan it isn't possible to know the exact severity of the injury.

"I can't give a prognosis because Mercury could have shattered his frontal bone," said Rios. "Hopefully there isn't any problem in his brain; that blow was so significant there could be some damage and we just couldn't tell [without the CT scan}. But, he didn't seem to have a concussion and his mental status was excellent."

He said that without any complications, Mercury may need plastic surgery and two months to recover before returning to WWE action. WWE.com will continue to follow this story as it unfolds.</font>

Welcome to our live coverage of WWE Armageddon from the Richmond Coliseum.

We're looking for your thoughts on tonight's show, so you can leave a thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle along with a best and worst match to dave@wrestlingobserver.com.

We are opening with Kane vs. MVP in the Inferno match. There isn't much you can do in a match like this. If you were into seeing the flames and spectacle it was okay. They were outside the ring and Kane snatched him and shoved MVP's back of his ring costume in the flames to end the match.

They are going to add MNM vs. Hardys and a ladder stipulation for the tag title match later in the show.

They've also added a lingerie contest with Jillian Hall vs. Leyla vs. Ashley vs. Kristal Marshall.

Brian Kendrick & Paul London vs. William Regal & David Taylor is up next.

Teddy Long is out and announced a ladder match, and is about to announce the additions.

Match was incredible. London and Matt were climbing and London got the belt to win. This was carnage. Mercury got his nose shattered from a teeter totter spot and had to be rushed to the hospital. His eyes shut immediately. He could have been hurt really bad. The other bad spot was Kendrick giving Regal a sliced bread #2 off the top of the ladder on Regal and both landed badly. Kendrick who, landed the first, seemed okay as he at least walked out on his own power. They had most of the usual ladder spots. They did a story that Regal & Taylor were afraid of heights or they could have won. Another crazy spot was Jeff on the top of a ladder on the floor and Nitro dove through the ropes with a dropkick. Jeff lost his balance and caught his throat on the top rope. Nobody is going to be able to follow this one.

The Miz vs. Boogeyman is up next. Miz thinks Smackdown is still on Thursday. Boogeyman won with a tree slam quick and spit all kinds of worms into Miz's face. This was way below bad indie level as far as a match.

Joey Mercury has a broken nose and severe lacerations around the eye.

Chris Benoit vs. Chavo Guerrero for the U.S. title is next. Another strong match. Benoit won clean with a sharpshooter off a rolling reverse cradle by Chavo. Chavo got the O'Connor roll from behind when Benoit had Vickie set up for a sharpshooter as she tried to give him a belt shot.

Gregory Helms vs. Jimmy Wang Yang is next. Helms busted up his mouth. Helms dropped Yang's face on his knee for the clean pin after a missed sky twister. Crowd wasn't much into it, even turning on it at one point, but I thought it was good. JBL went off the on the crowd for not appreciating it.

Undertaker vs. Mr. Kennedy is next. Long match with Undertaker winning with a tombstone on the top of the hearse, then he put Kennedy, who bled, in the back of the hearse and drove off. The big spot was Kennedy throwing Undertaker the Armageddon set into a crash pad. People saw it was gimmicked and the spot didn't really get over. Crowd was quiet most of this match. Nobody has been able to get the crowd hot since the ladder match.

I've never seen a WWE lingerie contest get over less. Kristal wore the most so keep her from winning. It was clear they wanted Ashley to win, to the point Michael Cole said, no question Ashley got the loudest cheers. Layla got twice the cheers of Ashley and the other two were booed. Christopher DeJoseph was Santa Claus and said they all won. Then he stripped and danced. Terrible ending of the segment, that much for sure. Didn't get over at all.

Batista & Cena vs. Finlay & Booker headlines the show.

There ya go Dorkchop.

Batista & Cena vs. Finlay & Booker headlines the show. Man, that sucked. They mostly paired up Cena vs. Finlay, which was fine, and Batista vs. Booker, and those two can't work together. They screwed up the finish it appeared. Then Finlay hit Batista in the knee with a chair to the knee and Batista didn't even sell it and went right back to the finish with a Batista bomb on Booker. Show started out great but peaked way too early. Crowd was into Batista & Cena, though.

12-17-2006, 10:53 PM
Mercury seriously got fucked up when that ladder hit, he was pissing blood in a second and his eye was swollen shut immediately after. Was a little pool of blood outside the ring after he fell out of it, kinda reminded me of the time zack gown kicked the chair into vinces head and blood started squirting from his head.

Well that's good, but still, Taker doesn't need the win. It's not like it's 15 years ago. Taker doesn't need to "win" in every single feud he's in anymore. For the character, he should win most, but at least let someone win the feud.

I thought Armageddon was ok for a smackdown PPV. The ladder match was cool, but boy did Mercury fuck up. Both Nitro and Mercury had there heads down when Jeff jumped onto the ladder, Nitro got out of the way but Mercury just stayed there and got hit. He fell, and looked straight up at Matt and said "i broke my nose", Matt looked really shocked. But I think I know why the ladder match was a suprise, prob Vince's way of saying "FUCK YOU! Told you to order it!!!!!!!!". The Undertaker vs Kennedy match was ok until Taker fell of the entrance building, made the match look real cheap when he landed on a king size bed...with Micheal Cole saying "Thats concrete!!!! Thats concrete!!!!" was just gay. Apart from Benoit and Chavo, the actual wrestling was shocking, even the main event...John Cena looks tired and Batista wasnt himself. Like I said, it was a good gimmick match PPV, but the ladder match alone was worth the money....but thats not the point, I ordered a hole PPV. At least it was 3 hours

I think it would help if the WWE gave each guy a personality. Not just "young weird guy #1" and "young weird guy #2". Give them their own WWE.com exclusive, or something, and have them parody Wayne's World, or just report the on-goings in sports entertainment in the week.

These guys are money in the sense that Edge & Christian were money, they are just a damn good tag team, that can provide us with some great memories.

LOL, yeah, this is WWE logic:

Advertise an event (December to Dismember) and then pull one match and switch out someone people actually want to see in the main event that night on the PPV itself.

Advertise an event with sub-par matches and then at the PPV itself add two teams to one of the matches that really no one gave a fuck about and make it a Ladder Match.

I guess after the disaster that was December to Dismember, WWE tried to redeem themselves with Armageddon, and I think they did. Inferno match was alright. The impromtu ladder match was really making up for the last ppv. One hell of a job by all men in the match. I actually called for a Kendrick Sliced Bread off the ladder, but he couldn't quite pull it off. And Mercury's ladder shot was really sick. I was at Buffalo Wild Wings watching, and almost everyone was yelling after that shot.

The rest of the ppv seemed pretty solid for a SD ppv. So I would say it was not a bad show at all.

They did a simliar thing at the No Mercy ppv with Benoit's suprise return. It's a good idea to try to get some unpredictability back, and in fact when I heard about the ladder match, I regretted not ordering the show.

You hit the nail on the head. The way the WWE did it, it was a gift for those in attendance, and those who ordered the event.

If they do surprise stuff at other PPVs, I can actually see myself ordering RAW events. Woah!
