Seriously, DDP should have been the one to end Goldberg's streak. He has so much momentum going into the PPV. I just got finished watching the PPV (which was a great PPV barring the Hogan/Warrior match) and I forgot just how over DDP was (and I was/am a DDP mark).
Discuss.

Yes, this was one of WCW's MANY mistakes.

I agree completely. I remember watching that PPV and after the HUGE War Games victory I was certain that DDP was going to go over, and then he jobs. It made no sense then and it makes no sense now. That loss really hurt DDP imo.
Also I watched that Hogan Warrior match again just last night, yeah that was shit. After such a hot card to put such a slow and predictable match is nothing short of mindbogglingly, and then to top it off with that lame finish. Simply amazing that they thought that would work.

I think the match was supposed to finish with the Flash Paper spot, but that got fucked up so they had to improvise.

On-topic, the DDP/Goldberg match was a great match. It had so much back-and-forth and then out of nowhere DDP got pinned by the Jackhammer. Goldberg kicked out of everything and DDP just got his ass-whooped and got lucky with a Diamond Cutter and Goldberg spearing the shit out of the ringpost. Damn it, I am starting to feel like I did when they showed the match on Nitro the night after because the PPV feed went out in alot of places.

The finish was funny. Horace Hogan (who had the shit beat out of him on Nitro 6 days prior) comes down with a chair looking like he's lost. Bishoff runs down and tries to force the ref to give him a BJ (thats what it looks like). Then Horace gives Warrior a decent chairshot to the back and Hogan wins 1-2-3. Then Hogan/Horace hug and proceed to pour lighter fluid all over Warrior. The Almighty Doug Dillenger (head of WCW Security) stops this evil act as nWo heads to the back. Warrior wakes up and rubs himself and smells his hands repeatedly. If you had never watched wrestling and were deaf...

Halloween Havoc 98 was MAKE IT OR BREAK IT for wCw!
Seriously though, I remember that match, and I didn't even like DDP, but I still wanted him to win. I wonder how both of those guys careers would've played out had he won.

I didn't think for a single second that DDP was going over Goldberg. Then again, not knowing Nash was booker, I didn't think Nash would go over Goldberg either...

Goldberg NEVER should have lost that year. Period.
