Why the fuck are so many team nicknames "FC" "United" or "Real"? How about some originality?
"FC" stands for Football Club. Not a nickname.
And they aren't nicknames anyway. It's the team name. Better than calling them Sharks, Dodgers, Bulls or some other moronic American influenced shite.

I like how European teams are emphasized more on the city than a stupid nickname. Some American nicknames are cool and make sense, but so many are just stupid. See Detroit.

Do soccer teams even really have nicknames? I mean I've heard so many teams called the blues, and Red Devils seems more like just something to say rather than anything official.
Yeah most do but it's stuff like the blues or what not. Red Devils is Man United's though.

Yeah, they do. See 'The Toffees', 'The Gunners', 'The Latics', 'The Addicks' etc

Also, can't stand the advertizing on the jerseys.
Well Stickman I'll say this, I prefer advertising on the shirts to commercial breaks between every goddamn half inning or at every time out

Not in the City of Vancouver, but in the Suburbs you could find them.

Bears? Maybe somewhere in Vancouver as a whole, but bears in any suburb of a city seems a bit stretchy.

Official nicknames are shitty and cheesy. Unofficial ones are alright eg. Manchester United and Red Devils or Arsenal and Gunners.

You'll see bears in North Vancouver, which is a suburb north of Vancouver as the name says. It's actually just over a bridge away. Where I live, about 35 minutes east of the City I've seen bears. Actually, you might see bears in Port Moody which is like 15 minutes away from the City. I wouldn't be surprised if there has been bear sightings in Vancouver.

Real is Spanish for Royal. It's only common in Spain. You'll notice any of the teams with Real in their name will have a crown on their badge.
It doesn't make much sense for whatever MLS team it is to have a Real on their name. That's a stupid gimmick.

So if I understand correctly, there are no commercials shown during soccer games because the teams have corporate logos on their uniforms?

Nope it's pretty much because there are no timeouts or things of that nature. If a player gets injured for example he gets taken off the field and however long it takes gets added onto the end of the half as injury time. Shirt sponsorships are just ways for the clubs to make money, it doesn't affect TV in any way.

Could look at it that way but their is shirt sponsorship all the way down the leauges where there'll be little to no media coverage. I'll take a logo on the front of a jersey over ads every minute any day.

Ya, soccer is king at not having commercials. When they do sometimes I notice there's a split screen so you can still watch the game but the commercial is on
They'd be lynched for trying that here

There was something in a technology magazine I was reading recently that had some predictions for this year, and one was that soccer would gain a lot of popularity this year because of how much better it is to watch on the widescreen TV's, which are really taking off this year.
Just thought I'd throw that in.

I wish FSC would go fucking HD. Their broadcasts look kinda crappy.
The World Cup looked GLORIOUS in HD.

Yeah, I think FSC isn't HD because a lot of what it shows are shitty foreign broadcasts. At least that is what I gather. Still, hands down my favorite channel. So far I have watched more soccer last semester in the U.S. that I have in England. Sucks not having a working TV.
lol soccer is so gay
Go to professional football match in England, Argentina, Italy or Turkey and tell the fans that in their native tongue, see if you live to tell the tale;)

What the hell is wrong with te Detroit team names? they are better than being called the "toffee men" or the "Wednesday". How dumb is that, being named after a day of the week? but soccer is such shit that it doesn't matter what the hell the names are.

The game stops at half time, they chuck a few commercials in then. As the game doesn't stop there is no time to fuck it up with mindless ads. There is bucket loads of advertising around the grounds and the league/comp is usually sponsered anyway.
Honestly your football could be the greatest game on the face of the earth but the fact that it stops every 5 minutes to shove in a load of twinkie commercials has got to turn morst of the world off.
and it's gay.

It's so simple. When the game is on there should be NO commercials.

I've found that most people who make claims such as "soccer is gay", are the intellectual equivalent of an autistic 12 year old who regularly received blows to the head with a tire iron as a child.
