View Full Version : Gangrel released?? He had a job??

Okay so The Gymini (surprise, surprise...) and Gangrel have been released by WWE.

But Gangrel hasn't been on TV for about two years. He's been under contract ALL that time???

Poor Angel Williams.

First she was suppose to replace Jillian Hall managing JBL. That got nixed.

And then a few months ago she was suppose to debut managing the Gymini. And now they got released.

Shut up, Gangrel was the man.

I'm not saying he wasn't...it's just that they could have found something a little more...positive to say about him instead of mentioning just his gimmick. They could have listed any titles he may have won, significant feuds, etc., etc. ...

If Lashley wasn't the "ECW Champion" (and I use that term loosely), he would probably be on the chopping block right now. Why did RVD have to get busted? *argh*

Also, I cannot express how badly I want to see "The Miz" added to this list of released workers. They gotta make room in the budget for the new bikini models that WWE will be signing soon. (Seriously)

Gray
01-18-2007, 05:23 PM
Few suprises on that one i guess...

Terkay: Not really seen much of him since his transfer to ECW, but on Smackdown im sure he could have had a few decent matches with the likes of Benoit etc.

Al Snow: Been with the company donkeys years? I thought he worked like a talent guy/scout, hohum!

Gymini: The Goldberg-lookalikes, was they ever even defeated? I havent seen em in months mind, but i aint seen Simon Dean in ages either

NeanderCarl
01-18-2007, 05:33 PM
Apparently Snow has only been relieved of his duties as a wrestler, not that they used him much since ECW restarted. He will still work for OVW, he'll probably take over the book again methinks.

NeanderCarl
01-18-2007, 05:42 PM
This slew of firings is rather ominous for ECW, don't you think? It currently stands at:

Sylvester Terkay (ECW)
Jazz (ECW)
Al Snow (ECW)
Tony Mamaluke (ECW)
The Bashams (ECW as the enforcers)
Gangrel (due to join the ECW vampires)

The Gymini (brandless)
Rodney Mack (brandless).

No active Raw or SmackDown wrestlers on the list. Surprise, surprise...

World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of Doug Basham, WWE CEO Linda McMahon stated that "We found him in a drawer, and his gibbering and scratching was a concern". The whereabouts of the other Basham, who's name escapes wwe.com at this time, is unknown. However, it is suspected that he has turned into a giant sludge creature which is prowling the WWE offices. If true, it's highly likely that 'Oily' Basham will challenge The Giant Khali for the World Heavyweight Title at Wrestlemania.

It saddens me the Al Snow got the axe. the only WWE superstar who has a job for life is Triple H, and thats not even beyond falling apart pending the marriage.

A guy like Shawn Michaels or Taker I would assume are as good as family, but then again I thought that about Foley and Austin. And how about a guy like J.R? Earl Hebner was up to shady shit but that still shocks me. It seems that the "deep" bonds of the WWE "family" have fallen on tough times.

And what about Vickie and the Guerrero family. I just read that their new home is having to be sold because they can't pay off the 500,000 dollar final payment or whatever.
What the fuck is that? I thought they'd be there for them, didn't they say they would? For the love of christ you've made enough dough off Eddie alive and dead alike, and milked the whole thing. Can't you just pay the family's house off and reuse a stage for one goddamn PPV instead of springing for a whole new overdone setup?

Don't be shocked to hear of more releases being announced today. Obviously, World Wrestling Entertainment has no plans to bring back ECW standalone house shows at this time, since most of those let go would have been undercard talents for those events. When the ECW events were first dropped, the internal belief was that they would return shortly after Wrestlemania 23. That's obviously not looking to be the case at this point.

C.W. never got a fair shake in WWE. You would have thought that Arn Anderson would have been behind him, because if C.W. got over, no doubt they would end up associated on screen.

With the recent string of firings, could they be headed towards merging the rosters? A heel Batista against a face Cena could freshen up both men, especially if Batista goes over and learns to talk.

If anything, disbanding ECW and doing a lottery after Mania is definitely necessary, except it would probably entail Kennedy going to Raw and getting stuck back in the midcard.

With the recent string of firings, could they be headed towards merging the rosters?

I doubt it for a few reasons.

1. They fired more people in a single sitting then they did in this one a while ago. If they fired someone relatively high in the standings, such as a Johnny Nitro type level performer, then you could consider that. But they are simply clearing out dead (and underused) wood.

2. That would mean that they would have to admit, not just during a skit on a TV showing that the product is shit at the moment.

3. There's way too many egos to go around at the moment to work on one show. Once Taker retires, maybe.

4. This would mean that Batista would feud with Cena. Which is probably the scariest idea I think I've ever heard.

Those are good points, and I doubt they would remerge anyway just because , but if they were going to, now would be the opportune time. The people they have gotten rid of probably would have been axed during a remerge (not that I agree with who was axed). The too many egos thing could actually have been a boon, not in the sense that ego is good, but in the 98-00 sense when there was a credible main event scene. And as for Batista feuding with Cena, it might work better than you would think. If Batista were given a program he actually cared about he might shake that rust that he's had ever since he got back. And Cena wouldn't have to continue with his Monster of the Month feuds. My reasoning is this: WWE is going to keep giving us Cena and Batista as seperate champions on two shows. If they merged and had them feud for awhile, it would be one less of them to deal with, and they might actually walk away with credibility.

I'm sorry but no credibility can come from a Cena/Batista feud on a merged show. 2 shows a week with them two as the focus? Meh.

Since they've been the Superman champions of the past 2 years, and haven't squared off...yea some credibility can come of it. Not much because I think them and the business are mediocre right now. But it would be a bigger title fued than we've had recently.

Batista would get over as a dominant heel if he were to be the one to end Cena's reign. Wrestling wise, it would be a train wreck lasting all of a collective 10 moves. I'm just saying there are two lame duck champions right now with no real credible challengers, might as well knock off one or make a heel out of him.

Well the WWE will need to cash in off it sooner or later, and it would be better sooner than later. They've made them into their two biggest stars. How big or good of stars is an entire other debate, but they're unquestionably their 2 current golden boys. I personally dislike them both and think a fued between them would be mediocre to watch at best, but the one good thing that could come out of it for me would be to see them pit agaisnt eachother face vs face and see who emerges the bigger star. At least one of them would have to job.

It's not a great fued, but what really is these days. It'd probably be the best fued WWE could offer these days from a business and kayfabe standpoint. The matches would suck ass but they could at least build it to bigger than it really is, like they have with the two of them.

Hence the reason he was released. Vince doesn't want talented workers hogging up the ring time. I swear the dopes in Stamford have everything bass-ackwards.

For a guy that was never used in the last year, his release has certainly attracted a lot of attention here. Gangrel was the goods, his gimmick as cheesy as it was, was enjoyable for me. Especially his Brood music, how could you not mark out for that one? hehe good times.

He was mildly entertaining for all of 5 months, I'll give him that. I wouldn't go as far as to say that he was the goods.

Well Gangrel was cool, but he was a vampire gimmick. What was the best part you say? His entrance music? Yea, okay it was cool. Edge and Christian had the same entrance music for a little while, and those are 2 men who are "the goods", their Brood entrance time period being the least of the factors in me calling them that.

I liked Gangrel back in the late 90s but he isn't really as useful now I suppose. They signed him 3 years ago after one televised match against The Undertaker with Vis and released him months later before he ever appeared on TV again. They signed him again last year for the new ECW and now he's been released again. I don't see any use for him now anyway, I think they're trying to push Thorn as a singles wrestler and the original plan was to have a stable of vampire but it doesn't look like that was gonna happen now anyway. I also don't know what kind of shape Gangrel is in since I haven't seen him wrestle in years.

Bill DeMott/Hugh Morrus/General Hugh G. Rection have all three been added to the list of released Superstars.

-From WWE.com:-
DeMott was the head trainer of up-and-coming WWE talent at Deep South Wrestling in Atlanta, one of WWE’s developmental territories. DeMott was a ring veteran who was a Superstar in WCW and WWE. He has held the United States Championship on two occasions, and also is one of the largest Superstars to ever use the Moonsault in his matches. WWE fans who watched WWE Tough Enough will remember DeMott as the no-nonsense trainer who helped to make the show a smash hit. -WWE.com-

These "paragraphs" about all the people they are releasing seem to be a ploy by WWE so as not to burn any bridges. If these Superstars have accomplished so much, A.) why weren't they used recently and B.) why were they released now if they're so great?
