We need cornerbacks not linebackers.. If we draft a LB it'll be Patrick Willis anyway..

do people still not understand that most teams are not gonna draft what they need, and take the best player available instead?

DrA

I kinda know what you are saying AssMan, but that is not a completely valid statement. If you look back at previous drafts, teams do pick based on what they need more often than not. Also, AssMan, you have to realize that what you're talking about is only somewhat true about the first 16 or so picks, not the whole draft.

Well what if Willis is gone and the 2nd best LB is still on the board? Would you still prefer taking the 5th best CB?

You think 5 CB's will be taken in the first 30 picks??

Foxworth is horribly underrated, apparently. Every mock I've seen so far has Denver taking a corner. Yeah, they'll need another and will likely take one later in the draft. But Foxworth is MORE than capable of being Denver's second corner.

CNM

Yep, and Paymah is a decent nickel corner. We need a stud defensive lineman.

lol nah no chance of the Jets taking Quentin Moses (They have Shaun Ellis and Bryan Thomas), got a bad feeling they will take Micheal Bush (He might end up being good, doubt it though) or Poslusny (sp?) if he is still around to take some heat of Vilma. I dunno, I have hopes of them making bigger moves this offseason

Jesus Shuttlesworth

I can see the Patriots drafting Buster Davis or maybe a corner, I dunno about a wideout.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
01-23-2007, 12:23 AM
I don't think Gaines Adams will go that high either, dude has doesn't have much heart it seems. Actually I dunno though, Mario Williams went #1 after disappearing in half the games he played in so maybe he will got that high.

Would be pretty funny if Detroit didn't draft a QB #2 and like Brady Quinn fell real far ala Aaron Rodgers

He really would, I can't see any team other then Detriot or Oakland really needing a QB.

Maybe the Dolphins? I don't know, Culpepper will be back probably.

Oakland should definetly trade their pick and pick whatever QB Detriot doesn't take.

Carolina could I guess but 14 would be pretty far

Falcons will probably draft Calvin Johnson or a FS

Crimson
01-23-2007, 11:27 PM
Calvin Johsnon will probably be gone before Atlanta picks. I want Dallas to grab one of those safeties...but a good O-lineman won't hurt of course.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
01-23-2007, 11:35 PM
I really think Calvin Johnson is going to be the best player from this draft, he has all the work out freak stats, he's always produced in games and he has a level head on his shoulders. Dude is gonna be a Hall of Famer I think

Calvin Johnson is gonna get picked by Detroit

The Browns will probably wait a while and try to take Troy Smith in the later rounds and turn him into the hometown hero. It won't work but hey it's the Browns.

Brady Queer will be a bad QB :(

With all the good picks in the top 10 I wouldn't be suprised if Atlanta got Calvin Johnson. But with us known for always trading draft picks I wouldn't be suprised if we didn't even get one :(

Jesus Shuttlesworth

No way Calvin Johnson slips to #10

MTH15
01-26-2007, 11:32 PM
I'm just saying it's possible. Doubt it, but possible. IF we do get CJ (lol Chad Johnson) Then Mike Vick will have 2/4 weapons. Feet, Receiver(s), we're missing an O-Line and a solid defense.

I like how Charles Johnson from Georgia isn't in your draft, when pretty much everyone is guaranteeing him a first round pick.

Crimson

Well put up you're own, I didn't say I was an expert.

I wouldn't dare. I would get berated. I basically know what the Falcons need and what players from UGA have to offer.

So I'm just holding down my fort. You are doing a much better job than I would ever do.

On that note, I really don't see the Falcons drafting a DT with their first pick, even when he's from Louisville. Rich McKay makes the draft picks, not Petrino. I would say they are drafting a WR (since most of ours can't remember how to catch), OL (for better protection for Vick, or better dominance in goal line situations), or DE (since Kerney might be going to the Broncos because of his favorite DL coach Bill Johnson) with their first pick.

And on the other note, Quintin Moses is the second best DE for UGA. Both will get drafted high, but I imagine Johnson will get drafted first.

So that's all that I am good for. Done.

Just looking at Mel Kiper's last first round. We could compare.

1. Oakland Raiders: *JaMarcus Russell, QB, LSU
2. Detroit Lions: Joe Thomas, OT, Wisconsin
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: *Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech
4. Cleveland Browns: Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame
5. Arizona Cardinals: *Jamaal Anderson, DE, Arkansas
6. Washington Redskins: *Alan Branch, DT, Michigan
7. Minnesota Vikings: Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson
8. Houston Texans: *Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma
9. Miami Dolphins: *Ted Ginn, Jr., WR, Ohio St.
10. Atlanta Falcons: LaRon Landry, S, LSU
11. San Francisco 49ers: *Reggie Nelson, DB, Florida
12. Buffalo Bills: Leon Hall, CB, Michigan
13. St. Louis Rams: *Charles Johnson, DE, Georgia
14. Carolina Panthers: Levi Brown, OT, Penn St.
15. Pittsburgh Steelers: *Jarvis Moss, DE, Florida
16. Green Bay Packers: *Marshawn Lynch, RB, California
17. Jacksonville Jaguars: *Sidney Rice, WR, South Carolina
18. Cincinnati Bengals: Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville
19. Tennessee Titans: *Dwayne Jarrett, WR, USC
20. New York Giants: *Lawrence Timmons, LB, Florida St.
21. Denver Broncos: Adam Carriker, DE, Nebraska
22. Dallas Cowboys: *Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee
23. Kansas City Chiefs: Tony Ugoh, OT, Arkansas
24. New England Patriots (from Seattle): *Darrelle Revis, CB, Pittsburgh
25. New York Jets: Dwayne Bowe, WR, LSU
26. Philadelphia Eagles: Aaron Ross, CB, Texas
27. New Orleans Saints: Daymeion Hughes, CB, California
28. New England Patriots: *Anthony Gonzalez, WR, Ohio St.
29. Baltimore Ravens: Anthony Spencer, DE, Purdue
30. San Diego Chargers: Patrick Willis, LB, Mississippi
31. Chicago Bears: *Greg Olsen, TE, Miami (Fla)
32. Indianapolis Colts: Tank Tyler, DT, NC St.

So yeah, even according to Kiper I'm wrong. I really don't think we need to go secondary for the third straight year with one of our high picks. But what do I know.

Crimson
01-27-2007, 06:07 PM
I don't see J'ville going wr again on Kiper's draft. And I think Landry will be a stud at safety so whichever team gets him they'll have a solid guy there.

I don't mind Dallas goin after a wr either but...we need a damn better secondary

Jesus Shuttlesworth
01-27-2007, 11:21 PM
Really don't see the Patriots using a pick on a wideout...especially in the first round. I think both their first round picks are going to be defense

I think Alan Branch is gonna be a huge bust too, well maybe not huge, but defiently no deserving of being picked that high.

Like I said. Atlantas like a greaveyard for receivers. Like Peerless Price(?), but if we happened to get CJ I'd do a backflip...I'd fall but I'd still try to do a backflip. We should trade M.Schuab to the raiders (if he has a contract left. If not renegotiate?) for a draft pick. Trade Patrick Kerney fora good pick or linemen, then do some free agent shopping.

Boomer
01-28-2007, 10:45 PM
There is no way Calvin drops that low, and I doubt the Falcons want to trade up and pay more money to a rookie. Kerney also can't be traded. He is a free agent.

OssMan
01-28-2007, 10:47 PM
giants have number 20 pick

should probably draft a CB but honestly no matter who they draft is gonna matter...i'm hoping for a nice black OLB to replace emmons

Schaub's a restricted free agent, you either sign him and someone will have to give you draft picks for him, or he goes onto the market. Doubt the Raiders will give up their picks when they have so many needs right now.

The Broncos won't take a CB in the first round

Neither will the Vikings. Antoine Winfield, Fred Smoot and that rookie from Texas are all fine. They will take an offensive player, or else possibly a pass rusher.

Yea I see what you all are saying.I just hope + pray we dont trade away too many draft picks if any at all...I'm still thinking to myself. Last year we traded some draft picks for John Abraham I thinkwe traded 06 draft picks...But We got Jerious Norwood (3rd) and Jimmy williams (2nd or 1st?) So IDK if we traded our 06 or 07 draft picks.

Crimson
01-30-2007, 12:23 AM
Here's some changes i'd like to see but won't happen.
Make Vick a slash player with Schaub as the starting qb, like Reggie Bush you know...10-15 carries a game, and as a 3rd wideout w/out the punt returns of course.

Make Roy Williams into a linebacker for the Cowboys since he is way too slow for a safety. Now I don't think he would be too small, he would probably do pretty well, he could be the run stuffer..him Bobby Carp, Ware , and Bradie James

Gertner

Lions need a O line more than a QB.

They should draft Thomas.

MTH15

I see what you are saying Crimson. I just dont think Bobby Petrino would wanna risk Mike Vick playing receiver and getting hurt. I havn't seen Troy Smith play a lot, but if we get him as a 2nd round pick that'd be cool. Then we could do something with Matt Schaub and still have a solid back-up.
