View Full Version : UNDISPUTED Most Beloved Wrestler

Just a stupid random thread, but lets try to think of one wrestler that we all can agree is cool/nice/liked.
Basically, my thinking is this: there are a lot of wrestlers who are pretty much fan favorites. People like The Rock, Chris Jericho, Bret Hart. But all of them have a decent group of haters. The Rock is probably the least these days, but some people dislike him for "selling out." Jericho? Has his fair share of people who think he's overrated. Bret Hart? Bitches about Montreal. Austin? Wife beater; loopydate hates his guts.
Anyway, the point being that there are still people who hate them. So can we come up with a wrestler that no one hates? Or basically no one?
If we say basically, The Rock and Jericho still probably apply. But I woudl like to submit the following wrestler to the discussion:
ANDRE THE GIANT
Only because, to be honest, I've never heard anyone say shit about him on this forum.
So yeah, play along or something.

(and yes this is a slight variation on that "something we ALL can agree on" thread a few months ago, but whatever)

Foley. There are too many guys to consider herem but overall Foley seems to actually be loved
Lance Storm needs a mention in this. I don't think anyone has ever talked shit about Storm. The closest was that booker from a couple of years ago who somehow screwed over Storm. He made an account here to defend himself, and we all made fun of him. I don't think he said anything bad about Storm though.
I would pick Owen Hart. What the other wrestlers said in his tribute was really touching.

C'mon, there's nary a person, let alone a wrestler, whom at least one person doesn't dislike.
I think Andre's antics were sophomoric and he was a bit of a bully. So there.

I really didn't like Eddie Guerrero in his early years. Granted, I was a bit of a mark, but still, that counts for something.
A lot of people bitch about Kurt Angle for not retiring, or something like that.
I think Owen Hart is probably the closest. Even some people think Lance Storm was "too bland".
I got to go with Owen Hart. Not as my personal most beloved, but because after his death they blew him WAY out of what he actually was.
He was a good wrestler and was a Hart. That's about as far as it goes. He never would have gotten a real title run (at most he would have gotten a Benoit-esq "thank you" run) and never would have been a main player at the level of Hogan, Rock, Austin, Undertaker, etc. He would have continued to be a glorified midcarder and probably would have retired by 2001.
