So the NHL voted down (even without a majority vote) changing the schedule so every team plays every other team every year. The players don't like it, the fans don't like it, only 11 owners like it. I'm sure all 11 are from the East as they have Crosby and Ovechkin. Oh yeah, goodbye hockey day in Canada.

Does anybody here actually like the schedule the way it is? It makes zero sense. Plain and simple. Somebody explain to me why Vancouver fans need to watch Calgary, Edmonton, Colorado and Minnesota 8 times a season while we dont' get to see Toronto, Ottawa, MOntreal and Buffalo next season? It's bs.

Yeah, I mean Detroit vs Columbus is great and all but I would rather the wings play the Leafs and Canadians more than these expansion teams.

The league won't cry because they'll make a tonne more money on TSN or Sporstnet.

I hate the new schedule, and I was hoping it was going to be changed. The rivalries havn't been built up like the league wanted anyway. I hate having to see the same teams over and over and missing out on the other teams around the league.

Bettman said he was going to address this. So there's hope yet... I'm not sure if he meant for this year of the following years, tbh

Bettman is a yesman and does what the owners say and won't step on anybody's toes.

He does report to the owners, yes. But he's more than a yes-man. He does move things forward, towing the owners.
Regardless of what anyone says about Bettman, I think he's done a pretty good job in a position rife with conflict and suspicion.

Bettman without getting the owners to vote made the schedule how it is now. Then, when everybody complains about how shitty it is he gets a majority vote against it. When asked about it he claims he can't change it and it's the board's decision. Excuss me? The board didn't decide on the decision in the first place. Do your job and lead the board. He's the man in charge of 30 Owners, put your opinions forward and tell them what you think is good for the game. Don't hide behind the board when people critisize your ideas.

i like watching the islanders play the rangers 8 times...because it'll mean 8 wins for the islanders.

Let them finish their three-year cycle and they'll re-visit the issue at the end of next season. They'll most likely make changes, but not until then.

You can't turn to a media outlet in Vancouver without somebody making mention of how stupid the schedule is. I'm listing to Classic Rock101 right now, which is definatly not a sports station, and they're talking about how gay it is.

I can't believe Ottawa and Montreal voted against change.

To be fair to all the teams in the league, they have to complete the three-year cycle. That's the way it was designed, and that's the way it's going to play out. They know they need to change it, and they WILL change it when the term is complete.

Which they shouldn't do. Sidney Crosby should be in ever arena every year. Why wait yet another year to implement that?
