So, according to recent news report, we have some different options that could possibly come into play in regards to the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 23.

I think it's pretty much a given that the defending WWE Champion is going to be John Cena. He's been built up very strongly over the past several months and doesn't look to be losing the belt anytime before Mania (unless they lose their minds and put the belt on Umaga this Sunday).

This leaves us with a few different possibilities for a WWE Championship match at Mania. With Triple H out of the picture, and the rumored HHH/Cena 2 encounter, we're left with the following:

John Cena vs. Randy Orton

John Cena vs. Edge

John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels

John Cena vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge

John Cena vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge vs. Shawn Michaels - Fatal Fourway -

The question isn't what's most likely to happen, the question is, which match would you prefer to see happen?

Personally, I would prefer to see the fatal fourway match. I just don't feel that Cena vs. Edge or Cena vs. Orton has enough star power to be the main event of WrestleMania. Cena/HBK would be interesting, but I'd rather see all four men thrown into the mix than a singles encounter between those two.

Whatever happens, with Batista/Undertaker seemingly penned for the Smackdown side of the World Title picture at Mania, I really hope we have some sort of a redeeming main event from RAW, since that one is sure to bomb.

Cena Orton Edge...it kills the damn Rated RKO thing and possibly sets up orton nicely with the title...and then we have more storyline possibilities with HBK later comin after it, Orton feuding with Edge cause of RKO, or Cena to get his belt back....

It's much better than a fat heavy guy gettin repeated shots at the title

I hadn't considered the Fatal 4 Way option tbh. But it seems like a logical way to go.

I think Cena/HBK has the biggest potential (Orton's not quite ready, Edge/Cena has been done to death and Michaels could pull a great match out of Cena) but by all accounts they don't want to do 2 face v face title matches. Using the Fatal 4 Way gives you 2 heels and 2 faces, keeps the Rated RKO v "DX" fued chugging along a little more and gives Cena huge odds to overcome (which seems to have been Cena's gimmick for the last 2 years)

I would like to see HBK V Cena, it wouldn't really be face v face as i have a feeling the crowd would turn Cena heel against HBK. Though the fatal four way option sounds good to.

HBK vs Cena
Since Cena ain't gonna turn heel most probably HBK will have to do it.
Hence we will feast our eyes on the old school HBK and that my friend
is cool.

But we all know that HBK isn't comfortable being heel since he was born again so sorry buddy I don't see that happening.

At the very least if he does turn he won't be the old HBK.

No no NO! ALL WRONG!

Everybody knows Umaga is picking up the strap at the Rumble! The best 'Mania Main Event to me sounds like Umaga vs. Khali in a Last Man Standing Iron Man match.

Okay for real...

I think HBK wins the rumble, Cena vs. HBK at 'Mania. I think a Orton vs. Edge match will be on the card somewhere else though, with major implications/#1 contendership on the line.

John Cena and Umaga will main event WM. Umaga will Samoan Spike 29 men over the top rope in the Rumble, and celebrate by eating Rey Mysterio.

Which will give him the runs...Damn Mexican Food.

The fatal 4 way and the triple threat sound fishy to me. WWE would use it as an excuse to make the underdog Cena beat the odds again and retain for another year.

The best bet for this match to be good would be a face on face matchup, even though it's already going to happen on Smackdown. Personally, I'd most like to see Cena take on a face HHH, because I think the crowd would quickly turn on Cena. It wouldn't be a bad match either. With him out, however, I'm not really buying HBK in the match instead. I think the crowd would turn on HBK instead of Cena, but WWE would never jump on this and make Michaels heel. In the end, it'd suck total ass.

Others to take on Cena:

Edge: No.

Orton: A dirty bastard Orton turning on his partner and jumping on the chance to be champ again would be nice, but the match would suck. I think they'd book this as a Cena retain anyway.

Carlito or Shelton: Both need a super huge push to ME wrestlemania. It could probably happen in three months time, but nobody would accept either as champ. They'd definately job.

On the side of Smackdown:

King Booker for the championship would probably end up turning into a bad episode of Smackdown. Booker would go over, but it wouldn't be a clean win, and I'd hate everything forever because of it.

Benoit could win the rumble again. THere's no way the sheep would cheer Benoit over Cena, so he'd have to wrestle as a heel, but I don't see how he can turn so quickly after this Guerrero thing. He'd have to turn without any buildup, and I just don't like that at all.

So in the end, it doesn't really matter. We're forced to endure either a bad match that may or may not end with somebody worse than Cena with the strap, or a decent match with Cena retaining. Based on the Alienoid length of my post, I have to say Doug Basham should ME wrestlemania and win it all.

Cena/Orton with Randy going over.

HBK/Edge with Michaels going over.

@ Backlash have a Fatal Four Way.

Post-Backlash: Orton/Michaels fued over the title.

Which is why it'll happen.

John Cena versus Shawn Michaels will be the match I'd rather see out of all those possibilities.

I'd like to see the Fatal Fourway. It gets four major players into one match, which allows more to fit on the show. There has only been one Fatal Fourway Match at WrestleMania, and that was under elimination rules. Plus you have the drama that comes with two babyfaces in the match, Rated-RKO colliding, and Edge's undefeated streak at WrestleMania being on the line.

By the way, I'd totally have Edge sneak out the victory by pinning Randy Orton. Something about it just feels right. John Cena and Shawn Michaels can be pissed, Randy Orton wants Edge's blood. Sets up plenty of programs for the WWE Title. More than what the WWE has now, anyway.

I'm already convinced it is gonna be Cena/Orton with Orton taking the title. Even though Edge is a main event guy, I'd rather not see him in the title match with Cena considering their feud was done to death as it took up most of 2006. I wouldn't even mind if they did a triple threat with Cena, Orton, and Shawn.

CENA/HBK, Cena wins but turns heel ala Bret Hart WM 13, by beating the shit out of him to beat him.

HBK wins the title in a HIAC at Badd Blood or something

I can't be happy with any scenario that sees Cena walk in and walk out of Wrestlemania the champion for a 3rd year in a row. No clever booking or swerves are gonna make that good. He needs to drop the belt this year, whether it be HBK, Edge, Orton or whoever.

I wouldn't wish injury on someone, but Raw could use a break from Cena for 6-12 months so Edge or Orton can get a run and a few others can step up a notch.
