This is the myspace page for the band my friends in San Antonio organized. They've together for an OK number of years and the reason they left for S.A. is cause they thought they could accomplish more with the band there as opposed to the dry as hell music scene here in my city. They claim to just be a rock band and they believe everything they churn out is awesome as hell. I've listened to their practices, their unplugged jam sessions, read their lyrics, heard their recordings from the CD they're about to wrap up, and basically just been around them and their music. I have my own thoughts on them but I'd like to know what the general public thinks so I can relay this back to them the next time I see them. The band is 24/7 and here is their stuff.

The three tunes for sampling should start playing automatically. Again, I'm looking for complete honesty. Thanks a bunch.

Honestly? They suck.
No, not really. I'll listen to them when I get a chance. But a better question. Do you want my opinion or critical assessment?
Because there's a lot of bands I hate I can honestly critically praise.

A little from column A, a little from column B.
I ask because they got a letter one time from some music expert that just totally ripped them up. I struggled to contain my laughter.

Not gonna say they suck, but they're not exactly my cup of tea either. And the riff for "Thoughts Of One Kind" is a note-for-note, sped-up version of a Box Car Racer riff. Meh.

It's alright, really not a very unique or original sound.

Get them a producer, some singing lessons (Either he's trying to be dissonant, and sucks at it, or he's trying to be melodic, and still sucks at it), and you might have a decent act. The vocalist, however, makes me want to set fire to whatever stage they're on. The guitars are rather unoriginal, but well performed, and it's otherwise solid, but man. I just can't imagine these guys catching on, since there are better bands doing the exact same thing.
That "riff," BTW, is totally unoriginal, but it would have been unoriginal when BCR did it, too. It sounds like a piano exercise.

Yeah, this is what I was kind of expecting.

How about the drumming? I know Dave (the drummer....d'uh) is hella proud of his drumming.

Drumming's solid, but there's little in any of those songs that I feel would really showcase a spectacular drummer in any event.

The thing is they've been surrounded by such a minute sect of people who either A. are friends with them, B. f*cking them, or C. fans of that style of music. So they're only exposed to positive reviews. And in cases when they play at gigs with other bands, I honestly feel they come out sounding the best but only cause everyone else sucked so bad and not because I think what they play is phenomenal.

To be honest with you, I hate, hate, HATE this kind of music. Fills me with rage right from the opening note.
However, given some proper equipment and a producer who can clean up the sound, they'd be MTV darlings.

Chris being the vocalist for those who didn't bother with the bios.

To be honest, I could probably rip the band to shreds. Main reason I don't is that critics aren't allowed to do that much anymore, and my personal opinion? They don't get radio play around here, so I don't have to listen to them, so I don't care. If they were Nickelback, I'd ask you to grab a shotgun.

I'd advise you to get them a dictionary and apply it to their myspace page.
