It was a back and forth classic. They both got in most of their big spots and reversals. It was so unpredictible it made it even better.
The ending saw Michaels go for Sweet Chin Music and Taker backdropping him out of the ring basically.

First ever person to draw the 30 and win. OMG If Cena is the one to finally defeat him I will cry, and I am serious I will. :'(
Why oh why did I decide to switch Taker to Kane, FFS.
I switched out Orton (or Edge, one of them) for RVD. Silly Xero, ECW never gets that far!
First Royal Rumble PPV ive seen in years, and was very impressed with it.
The Tag Match was pretty good, always good to see the Hardy's vs MNM, however the ECW match was absolute shite, it sucked muchly.
The Smackdown match was fairly decent, i expected Bats to win it anyway, but i couldnt help but notice how many fan's were chanting for Kennedy, and its a rare occasion that the heel loses out when the ref gets knocked unconcious.
The Raw event i enjoyed a lot, i was expecting Umaga to actually grab the win for some reason, so now im wondering what will come of Umaga now that hes been beaten soundly - Albeit by a choke out which was a bit *fnar*.
The Rumble itself was good, but please god, dont let Khali do another Rumble, i felt he actually ruined what was becoming a good matchup, then eliminating everyone, goddddd.
Expected the final 4 to be who was in it, however i was thinking it was going to be Michael's to get the victory, be good to see how things develop on Smackdown now with Undertaker and Batista mind

Not a bad PPV. Definetly better then last year's. At least the Rumble was LAST this time.
First ever person to draw the 30 and win. OMG If Cena is the one to finally defeat him I will cry, and I am serious I will. :'(
Well, I'd rather see Cena go over Taker than Batista. But I hope they have Taker go over and retire the next night, vacating the belt. I think that would make for the perfect ending. Going 15-0 at WrestleMania, being the first wrestler to win from number 30 and retiring with the Championship.

Final thoughts.
Missed out on Hardys v. MNM
Lashley v. Test: Test walks out of the match. ECW better break out the lifeboats ASAP. Of course most of you know this.
Kennedy vs. Batista: Surprisingly, Kennedy did pretty damn good in this match. I could have seen him walk away with the belt.
Cena v. Umaga: We all knew how this would end. Well, most of us I guess.
Rumble: No surprise entrants. Somebody kill that reporter. But very good overall. I had HBK winning it all in his hometown. But, Undertaker is also due for a run. Congrats. to him.
You're welcome for my play by play. Thanks for Morgan for adding stuff in as well. Thanks to those who repped me for my troubles.

Not sure how I feel. The first tag match was a bit slow, but decent. The ECW and World Title matches sucked, but I didnt have high expectations. How apropo is it that the new ECW's title match ended on a countout...
Did Batista blow out his knee or was that a work, if so it sucked to high hell because the match was terrible. Didn't make Kennedy look strong at all except for maybe the early going. John Cena vs Umaga was naturally the best of the 3 title matches, but doesn't really mean it was good. Was about what I expected, with those 2 it could have been worse.
Now here's where I'm torn. The Rumble Match itself. I was really pleased in the early stages. Liked the way things were going. Glad to see how Edge entered early, loved Kane in it and Sabus elimination, thought sandman got shit on but wasn't suprised. Personally, I think it was well booked for CM Punk for the most part since they made him look strong. Liked how they let the ring fill up with a lot of real stars. Rated RKO eliminating the Hardys may play into who they drop the tag titles to, Kane/Booker..okay fair enough....
Then...Khali enters...I knew this would be shit. I knew he'd piss me off, and the first thing I'll say is thank god he didn't win the goddamn thing. But he shit on 6 or 7 of the top young guys. All for nothing but to make him look strong, lame. That pissed me off but since Edge and Orton were still in and Khali went out I rebounded.
Then Orton and Edge go out like chumps back to back. HBK and Taker in the final two. I'll give them credit that its probably the best final 2 in a while if not ever since it turned into a match in itself. But... Wow, two 40 yr olds shit on the 2 most promising young heels who should have gotten the win. At this point all I can hope for is Shawn Michaels to get the hometown win, but no. Anticlimactic and lame. Could have been much worse.....but could have been MUCH better.

Not nearly as terrible a show as this thread made it sound.
-MNM/Hardys was only alright. Can't believe the Hardys won.
-ECW title was an abortion. It's like some autistic kid asked the Make A Wish foundation to let him book this match. They could not possibly bury ECW anymore. Of course, I will be proven wrong on that point I'm sure.
-Oddly enough, I thought Batista/Kennedy was match of the night (not counting the Rumble). Kennedy got a lot more offense in than I thought he would. Solid stuff.
-Cena/Umaga was not bad. Umaga was booked very strongly, and I thought the finish was pretty inventive.
-Rumble was good as always. Final minutes between Taker and Shawn were excellent.
-There was an absolutely hilarious (for all the wrong reasons) Wrestlemania commercial, featuring little kids imitating wrestlers. You haven't lived till you've seen a skinny 9 year old imitating Batista's pyro dance.

MNM vs Hardyz
- Matched seemed to go down ok. I liked the ending
Test vs Lashley
- Heyman has killed himself
Batista vs Kennedy
- I liked that Kennedy didn't win, its too early. Best Championship Match IMO
Cena vs Umaga
- .................
Royal Rumble
- Glad to see a younger star, who needs a push to be propelled into a main event scence when the older guys retire :)
Seriously I am torn, Im happy Taker won, but that should have happened 5+ Years ago.

Christian Cage calling himself an "instant classic" during the layover might have been the highlight of the purchase. Honestly, I can't convince myself into thinking that event was good.
Its the Royal Rumble, so the novelty of the rumble match itself provides ample entertainment. But seriously, it was not what it should have been. And Batista vs Kennedy the match of the night? Batista never stood up.
El Fangel
01-28-2007, 11:53 PM
The ONLY reason to get the rumble the last two years was to see the rumble, I mean you could have taken a quick look at the weeks leading up to the rumble, and the storylines and angles and knew they would be complete shite.
Jeritron
01-28-2007, 11:53 PM
Taker winning is just, meh. Its very anticlimactic. Of course you're going to get the same main events regardless. So why book him to win? On SD! you have No Way Out. Not to mention that the Rumble was booked heavily with HBK/Orton/Cena. So why not have the disgruntled Kennedy face the runner up Undertaker for the title shot and let HBK win the goddamn thing?
And don't get me started on Orton or Edge not winning.
Jeritron
01-28-2007, 11:57 PM
and whats with the fucking records?
"no man has ever won at 30"..."carlito always enters 27"..."this would be Shawn 3rd win tying Austin"...."Kanes elimination record"...."2 men have won at number 2"..."RVD has always been in the final 6"...etc etc etc.
Its like they book the goddamn thing for stats and records for the commentators to ramble off, and worry too much about what has happened instead of what IS happening. Worry about the Rumble at hand and booking it well instead of manipulating it to fit into the records and trends.

That Rumble match was fantastic. Taker was the only guy to have any build so everyone of you who thought it was going to happen any different are totally fucking retarded. HBK/Edge only had that bit monday to hype the Rumble. I cant beleive so many of you couldn't see through that. I'm glad Taker will get the Main Event of Mania, this being his last one he deserves it more than anyone else on the roster, with ease.
The show over all was solid.
Hardyz/MNM was decent.
(Obviously,) the ECW title was beyond terrible.
THe WHC match was...ok. Kennedy didn't look weak so I was pleased.
The WWE title was MUCH better than could be expected. Really thought that one would steal the show for being so terrible. But it was decent.
And the Rumble. Such a good match. A lot of fun from that one. Everything that needed to happen did. Dykstra went over Flair, giving him some more rub. Good good. Punk had a strong showing coming in at 11 and lasting until 29. Khali looked dominant so he can into Mania strong. (Most of you pissed at this match is because of Khali, and to be honest, you all sound like marks when you bitch about him.) Edge and Orotn eliminations can go so many ways heading into Mania and it will be interesting to see where they take them. Taker/HBK at the end was sooooo good. Really fun to watch even though I knew who was going to win (with out a shadow of a doubt.)
The first man to win from 30 and Takers first win heading into what very well maybe his Mania...good stuff.

If Edge's streak ends so that Cena can raise that title belt he won at a carnival in the final moments of Wrestlemania, I'll shit in my hand and throw it at the computer screen (because I'm not ordering WM).
And as for Takers streak, fuck him for winning and fuck them for putting him in the ME, but I'll be damned if his streak ends for a mediocre champion pushing 40 to get a rub he doesn't need and won't help him or the business.
You're looking a situation where the 2 longest standing winning streaks can be snapped for Superman A and B to retain for the 100th time in 2 years, one of which is held by the best heel and only reason to watch Raw....

How am I sounding like a mark for being displeased with The Great Khali lumbering in and overpowering 6 guys who shouldn't be buried so severely. Wouldn't it be the other way around?

I respect Taker a lot, and I see where you're coming from...but I don't know how I feel about that. Hes had his Mania, and I don't know if I agree with the "last mania blaze of glory" thing. What about Shawn Michaels, isn't he near the end too? After all he's done, yes he's very deserving of the honor and a send off, but what about young guys. Mick Foley and Austin bowed out quietly.
But I will tell you one thing, I can think of plenty of other guys I'd be more upset about winning the rumble than him, and I will certainly be rooting for Taker to go over Batista.
YOUR Hero, we should hang out and do arts and crafts and predict wrestling shows we dont watch.

After reading that last match spoiler, it's becomming apparent that Undertaker will win the Rumble.
Even tho i think it was really obvious he was winning.
Hm. I'm not disappointed that I didn't order this Rumble. Having the entire card filled with World Title matches makes them seem so much less valuable. And we've already seen MNM/Hardys.
The Rumble itself sounds like it was entertaining, but it always is. Still wouldn't pay $45 for that match alone; especially when they cut it so short at not even an hour.
Jeritron
01-29-2007, 12:48 AM
By default it goes 60 minutes, and Taker and Shawn went for another 5 I'm guessing.
Honestly, I'm nitpicking things but I was entertained. Its the rumble for crying out loud, if for anything its been worth all the discussion on here already. Not to mention the rumble is always entertaining in itself. I only paid 15 bucks, so I can't really complain about the financial investment aspect of it.

That would be true, except for the fact that each man entered at 90 second intervals, and with the first two men already in the ring, that's only 42 minutes.
So by your estimation of Taker/Shawn going another 5 minutes, they only went to about 50 minutes. Not an hour.

I agree with pretty much all of this. I hate Khali more than anyone else on the roster. The guy that wasn't even allowed to have live televised matches, is starting to dominate WWE just because of his size! He doesn't even do anything! Then to see him eliminate 6 people right in a row, including RVD, CM Punk, and Carlito was all BS.
I'm not so much pissed that Undertaker won, but a little annoyed. I thought for sure that Orton would win it, but after his elimination, I was sure it was going to Shawn, being in San Antonio. But that didn't happen. And if Taker and Shawn weren't gonna give the rub to the younger guys, then they should at least have had the fans leave happy seeing their hometown guy win it all.
But besides from those, I enjoyed the show. The Rumble is always my favorite event of the year, even though there weren't any surprise entrants. And besides the ECW title match, the other title matches were good.

WHat was with the shit finishes, the tag match was ok but a been there done that x10000 finish, the ECW finish was just completle crap, I mean they book Test as coming for that title then he just says fuck it and walks out? Huh?
Poor Kennedy he dominates "the animal" and then out of nowhere gets hit with the Batista bomb WTF, did they decide if it works for Cena it should work for Batista too? You reach a certain point wehere you actually make a guy look liek a complete loser by having him lose so easily after beating on a guy for 10-15 minutes, and they pretty much did that with Kennedy tonight.
Speaking about Cena, holy fuck me jesus, how many fucking times does Cena need to get the living shit kicked out of him only for him to win out of the blue, I mean come on, half the damage he did was by dodging Umaga, the other half was out of the blue attacks. He even fucking hulked up for shit sakes, retarded to the max, the ending sucked complete ass, Umaga was awake enough to start getting up at 3 after the first choke but after another 3 seconds of weak STFU roping from a guy who has had the living shit kicked out of him he's out cold? Terrible, Cena is so fucking annoying I was really hoping Umaga would win somehow just for the hell of it. This whole SuperCena: The Amazing Underdog Boy Wonder is getting just straight out retarded they've been doing it for over a year now, a fucking year.

I bought Rey way more than Big Show and his defenses against Bossman and Viscera in late 99. If you wanted Rey as champion, you have to accept that he was going to win by chance or by underdog heart mixed with circumstance. Kinda comes with the territory of having a guy who's 5'6'' win the title. Whether or not he should have been a World Champion is another issue.

And as for Takers streak, fuck him for winning and fuck them for putting him in the ME, but I'll be damned if his streak ends for a mediocre champion pushing 40 to get a rub he doesn't need and won't help him or the business.I'm hoping he distroys bastista at mania my self.

How many times has it happened, twice for number 1 and once for number 2? With the exception of Vince which was a big asterisk? Out of 20 years? I don't think they're just handing it out.

Khali dropped 2 balls which were the ones Kelly Kelly picked up for the classic "these are the biggest......." I can't be bothered to finish it, it was that good.

I don't htink the ending to the Royal Rumble match could have been done any better.

I will have to say, maybe aside from the winner that I was completely happy with it. I marked out for Sabus elimination and how most of the entrants were booked, even the ones you knew wouldn't win.

Usually when you watch the rumble you have it pegged to like 5-6 wrestlers, so seeing who eliminates the other 23-24, is what is interesting, and when someone who you think is not going to win, eliminates someone who you think is going to win, you like "wow that was awesome"

Yea it was really pleasing to see so many contenders. Granted you could automatically rule 25 of those guys out from any chance of winning. But even though it wasn't as "star studded" as they claimed, there were a lot of former champions and upper-mid card stars in that rumble. Not much garbage.
It was full of guys who you know are eventually gonna go out but you go "aww man, that was a pretty good showing at least" like Jeff, CM Punk, Finlay, RVD. I'll refrain from getting into the Khali elmininations.
