Okay, I don't watch the show, I catch the stray minute or two sometimes tuning into something else. For example, I'm tuning in to see House tonight. So I caught this black chick. And when she gets shot down, she turns all incredibly bitchy.

Now, I'm no expert on this show, but it seems a good portion of the appeal to it is watching some tightass brit rip a bunch of people with no talent to shred. So how stupid do you have to be to go on a show like this and then flip out at the inevitable outcome?

Further, don't these people have friends or family?

I know if I knew anyone as bad as the people I hear on the show, and they said they were going to go try out for Idol, I'd do the humane thing. Actually, it depends on how much I like them--I know of a few people I'd tell to do it, then actually watch the show and hope they made the highlight reel. But really, the question isn't even about the show. It's more "What the fuck are these people thinking?"

Fame whores, is all. Even being terrible gets you recognized today.

She was quite adorable, tbh.

Hmmm..You got a point. I suppose after all the shit on TV, people don't care if the attention comes from looking like a total fucking moron.

There was this one guy on last week. Real skinny gay guy (and when I say gay, I mean FLAAAAAAMING) Had already been on another reality show. Couldn't sing to save his life of course. Then once he's told no, he goes off insulting the judges, makes a huge scene. And of course the next day he's featured in all the blogs and getting interviewed on the news and all that.

It's more or less all about the terrible auditions now.

Yeah, that dude obviously wanted exposure but I think he really thought he could sing, too. He was a whack job.

I met two people who were boasted about being on Australian Idol (same as your Idol except they sing out of tune in a funny accent). They were on about how they went to Sydney and although they didn't make it they still got called back for an Idol special. I found out later that they got flown back to sydney for a The best of The Worst show (see Wiliam Hung). I nearly fell over laughing that these two weretelling anyone that would listen their story.

truely sad.

Awful, I agree. The whole character of that girl seemed so unbelievable to me. The only entertainment was a couple of the cases in the "Clinic" subplot, and even that wasn't all that entertaining. I did like it when House's boss made it a game, though. :D

Yeah, the game was the only upside, and I'm with you, a few haha moments here and there but overall it was crap. That chick was terrible. I did love, "Whoever has a running nose raise your hands....it's a cold"

I had a feeling that after the police investigation ended the season would kind of lag until possibly the last episode. I'm right so far.

The arrest arc went on too long, I think. They probably deliberately stretched it out for the break. I hope you're wrong about the series lagging for the rest of the season, but when I saw the cop thing stretch out more than 2 episodes, I had a bad bad bad feelin' about where the show was going.

They'd better not tank House. It's one of the best shows on TV.

From what I've been told, in the UK the auditions for The X Factor (reality TV show that Simon Cowell owns) involves the contestants having to preliminary audition at least 3 times to other judges before they get the chance to go on TV and meet the actual judges and be filmed. Pretty much these people that get through to meet Simon Cowell and the others are more or less told beforehand that they are talented and the stand a good chance of going through. Yet when they do properly audition, the people are told how much they suck and so they go off on one, going on about how they have been told that they can sing and they know they can sing etc.

BTW The X Factor is similar to American Idol. The major difference being that groups can audition.

Hmmm...Anyone know if this is how Idol screens people?
