Why I think Wrestling on TV is getting better (or at least more varied) and where it can go from here.
Smackdown is my favorite show for pure wrestling on tv right now. Raw is more Showman style without the stars to pull it off, ECW not really as hardcore as it should be, but Smackdown is a well mixed show with incredible Strong, Technical, and Cruiserweight matches. I honestly believe THe Smackdown Roster and Writers should go to Mondays. Purely From a wrestling Standpoint Smackdown is where wrestling needs to be for the most part.
TNA has an alternative style but it's a little too short and not as focused on wrestling as it should be, it's a little too gimmicky and people sell a little bit too much.
Until last week I was all for ECW and Raw And TNA and everything And I was pretty much being a smark. But then I was os dissapointed By Raw and ECW and usually Smackdown doesn't Upset me too much and pleases me as much as half the time.
There is some stuff that pisses me off about every show and wrestling in general.
As for WSX it's at least entertaining in a JACKASS way. And it's no doubt neat what they do although it is not really pure wrestling in any way shape or form. I'm glad that it brings wrestling to the mainstream and makes it look a little more.. not real.. but at least painful. So normal people will understand that wrestling isn't just people fake hitting each other. I can appreciate it for it's mainstream appeal and it's possible ability to draw more fans to my matches!
Wrestling is getting on TV more and is at least improving over the last few years of complete shit.
so here's a few things I wish could happen on my TV.
A) ROH needs a show. It needs AT LEAST an hour. And it could just have 10 minutes of recap and story building and 50 minutes of 2 or 3 matches, really get people to go to shows and buy ppvs so they can get a longer show. They could go for wednesday or saturday and let me not have to miss wrestling for a night.
B) We need a japanese wrestling show. This would appeal to both the big Asian fascination we in the west have and allow people to see what some of the best wrestling looks like. Also we could see where the biggest stars go and what they do when they aren't in our big leagues. It'd give WWE a reason to vary themeselves more instead of sticking to their formula they use for who can be a star.
C) Some type of Sportcenter esque indy wrestling show. Maybe show a best match of the week, that's it, but show like clips from what's going on in the indies, who might be signing to the big leagues and where to go in your hometown.
I think these things are realistic considering the market is at 90% and heading toward a boom period. (That's for us EWR fans.)
Anyway if you live in the SC area come see me wrestle when I get up and going again! I'll tell you where I'll be as soon as I know!
Thanks and have a great week.
