This game looks pretty tight and when i received my Electronic Gamers Monthly mag, i looked at one of those "first glimpse" articles and there are some nice features on the game i haven't seen in other games:

-Toss your partner a clip if they are out of ammo
-Revive your partner if dying
-Drag your partner out of harms way (your buddy can still shoot at the enemies while you are dragging him)
-Levels can be edited with both people (i.e. Moving some bulk object for cover)
-Similar to Halo with the vehicle operation: One drives, the other shoots the attached weapon
-Feel like you are in the action with commands to give to your partner during a mission. Partner may not always agree with your commands if too risky
-Cover fire to risk injury

See, things like that make me want to play this game NOW. The release date on that link is April 2, 2007. I just hope that EA has different locations for the missions like within a city, hotel, nightclub, warehouse, etc. to give me that feeling that im just in the same basic "some weird place".

Seems like a great co-op engine, but good game is more than a good engine (-realistic yet boring Gran Turismo).

I can't wait for this game. Hopefully the 360 and PS3 can play cross platform, but I'm not holding my breath on that..

I decided to search on "Army of Two" before I posted about it, so sorry for a bump on a thread that's a year old. It's just that this already mentions a lot of the points of the game in the opening post and whatnot.

Anyway, the game videos for this game are fucking sweet. I love what I've seen in the previews, and I've preordered the game from Gamestop for the bonus weapons (One of which is an EB/Gamestop exclusive, evidently). I haven't been this hyped up about a game before its release in ages.

My father and I have been looking forward to this for some time.

Yeah, my buddy is really psyched that I'm getting this. This is one of those games that makes him wish he had a 360. Since it's a co-op, and he's the primary person I Co-Op on games with, I am REALLY glad he's interested.

I was really interested, still am quite a bit, but I am kind of worried by this:

EA's newest IP -- Army of Two -- apparently isn't all it's cracked up to be. So says GamesRadar sister-magazine Xbox World, who were set to review a near-final build of the game, until EA Montreal decided the game wasn't quite ready for release. The resulting preview is downright nasty in its condemnation of the cooperative FPS, which it fancifully re-titles "Army of Sh*t."

The criticism lies mostly with the game's storyline and main characters, the latter of which Xbox World decries as the least likable in video game history. The plot of the game is apparently incredibly xenophobic, with generic terrorist enemies who refer to the main characters as "f*cking infidels." The gameplay, meanwhile, is described as bland and repetitive, with numerous cut-scenes and clumsy controls.

Is there any hope for Army of Two? Not according to Xbox World, who describe the game's delay as nothing more than "a stay of execution." Considering their qualms lie largely with the game's intrinsic plot, writing, and characters, they could very well be right. We'll have to see come first-quarter 2008 whether the game is truly as sh*tty as they make it out to be.

I really really hope they're wrong, especially with how terrible Kane and Lynch was. That upset me greatly.

Why I'm about to defend EA here, I don't know. Maybe it's because I think Joystiq did it again (they're the only ones to cite this article, and I am not familiar with that magazine they got this from at ALL. And how many fucking SHEEP do they have that read Joystiq? I swear that everyone of the comments to that post sounded like the game was already out and that this guy's article had to be the truth without fail).

So far, all I heard that this guy had a problem with was with alot of cut scenes, someone calling the protagonists as fucking infidels, & "bland a repetitive gameplay" (boy, sounds like everyone has the same perspective as this guy does, do they). The ONLY thing right now that I could see that might warrant some concern is the controls, which could be fixed with at LEAST a custom configuration option in the game.

Again, Joystiq, WTF? Did they TRY to search for anything negative about this game or something?

That was worth it for the irony of darkpower calling other people sheep alone.

I've had this on reserve for a good while.

From what I heard from some of the other critics, they are really glad this got pushed back and got worked on some more. If it came out on it's scheduled date last year, chances are it probably would have been bad. But judging from the videos that have been posted, this looks pretty fun.

this game is great. got it last night and played coop with a buddy. the aggro system is really cool, and you will need to use it. the ai is very smart and will outflank you.

i havent gone online yet for 2v2, so dont know about that.

the only thing is like most games now it seems kinda short, we played for a few hours and are about halfway through. i almost feel bad after we beat a mission cause the end is closer.

hooking up and pimping your weapons is great, alot of cool stuff

all in all, very fun game. get it and play with a buddy, i think solo will take away from it a lot.

Taken from Penny Arcade..

"Just got back from the store with two copies of Army of Two, my mind already blossoming with mercenary exploits, when it suddely became clear that the game has no local play option. No local play option. Even on the same Goddamned LAN, both accounts need to be Gold Tier Live accounts. You seriously have got to be fucking kidding me."

I just got it. I have to wait until tomorrow to actually play it, because I'm not going to play this game without someone to co-op with.

Got my copy today and just watched the gametrailers.com review. They pretty much sum it up as if you got a friend to play with ya, you're gonna have a blast playing it. If not, it gets boring quick.

Can't wait until Army of Siamese comes out. The game where you and your conjoined twin go into battle and try to survive.

Pretty fun game. The parachuting scenes are kinda lame. The back to back deal is fun, but it makes no sense in a game where the cover fire system is so important.
