I am trying to compile a CD with slow, soothing songs that DONT have depressing lyrics.

Pretty much narrows alot of that down though.

No lyrics would also be a plus.

Snowlion by Gary Malkin is AMAZING, probably exactly what you are looking for. But damn is it hard to find. I dont even have a copy to send you.

Aimee Mann's Humpty Dumpty is probably "depressing," but it doesn't have that effect on so I'll recommend it.

Ben Patton's "Hold Out Til My Angels Come" might fit.

Dave Carter and Tracy Gammer's "Kate and the Ghost of Lost Love" might not fit. It's specifically about a woman pining away for a man who never returned, but it's still beautiful. "When I Go" would probably fit.

Mogwai - I Know You Are, But What Am I?
Mogwai - Travel Is Dangerous
Sigur Ros - Glosoli
Sigur Ros - Hoppipolla
Sigur Ros - Milano
Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun
Múm - Green Grass of Tunnel
Múm - Finally We Are No One
Múm - Don't Be Afraid, You Have Just Got Your Eyes Closed
Múm - The Land Between Solar Systems

Most of those have lyrics - sorry - but all the Sigur Ros ones are sung in Icelandic. Don't really think they're particularly depressing, mind. Only one I'd say straddles the "depressing" border in terms of lyricism is Travel Is Dangerous. :-\

Hope some of those help though :)

Oh, Guster.

Some of this shit may be too down or whatever, but most of it shouldn't be.

So Long
What You Wish For
Eden
Fall in Two
Fa Fa
Rocket Ship

The problem is, their most beautiful harmonies tend to be on dark songs.
