Thor - Loved the ice planet (can't remember any names sadly), but felt Thor and Natalie Portman didn't have an ounce of chemistry, which made their scenes really drag. Other than Thor, I can't remember a single other character name, other than Loki, that's how underdeveloped the supporting cast were, just background scenery, but it's cool, because the story itself was pretty decent. 7.5/10

Now normally I would give a rating, an arbitrary number that is meaningless. It is difficult to categorize movies into one of ten piles and leave it at that, sometimes you wonder if it deserved more or you wonder if it deserves less.
This movie however, I will watch time and again. I have not enjoyed any movie as much as this one in years. I am serious when I say this is a classic. If we want to have 10 as perfect, then here you have it. 10/10
And that is just for the climax alone.

No wonder Ebert gave it a perfect score.. Sure, he admits this one being Exorcist as the huge influence but still, Sam Raimi as producer always loves to turn demons into much like the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness versions of the female possessed. Yes, the hand that comes out of the mouth is the fucking creepy shit.. Much better than Paranormal Activity stuff.
The demon lives inside the antique box. You open it, you fucking die. Not much to see except a few missing rotting teeth, body hair, dead moths and a black jewel ring.
My other fave scene: The demon's face exposed during the X-Ray tests of the main possessed girl.
After the movie, I felt my hands and arms a bit shaky.. Despite the air condition in the theater is weak.. I dunno. I think I'm sensitive scary when it comes to demon possessions. Gets me everytime when I was a kid I guess.. Anyway, I liked it.
9/10.
Is it just me or the sister of the possessed girl looks like Lindsay Lohan in her cleany

Only good part of this is they put a cam on one of the dinos that looked like a pathetic poor man version of Dilophosaurus in Jurassic Park. Found footage still trending except with dinos. Ridiculous intro of the sequence saying, "The following images have not been manipulated or changed in any way." Sure, unless you put CGI dinos that looked like they belong in a SyFy TV movie and Terra Nova series.
There's a bit of a plot twist to this: one of them named Charlie is a traitor scientist determined to own Dino island or something despite he wanted to get rid the rest of the crew.
Despite the shittiness, I'm still a sucker for dinos.. And the main hero is a fucking Bieber-ish look-alike in his mid-20s.

I really enjoyed this one, there were plenty of twists and turns in the story and character development; it was really entertaining to see how both of the main characters evolved due to their obsession with being the best magician, regardless of the cost.
My only minor nit with this movie was with David Bowie's performance. Overall it worked fine, but every now and then he slipped ever so slightly into Jareth mode when he was talking.
It's a small thing, but I found it to be just enough to take me out of the moment.

Something Hollywood should NEVER EEEEVER dare to remake since I read somewhere they're preparing a reboot of this. Fight scenes/machete gangs/drug lord/corrupt cops become the main story. Forget the rescuing brother or the Swat member's wife getting preggie subplots.. There's this one henchman named Mad Dog despite how many times his head gets smashed on the floor/walls, even a knife to the neck, dammit, he's still got lots of canned whooped ass left in him to beat the shit out of the Swat team.. Almost insane on the same level as the fight scenes in Old Boy too... Go see it.

Resident Evil: Retribution 5/10
For this movie you really needed to see the last one to make it worth watching. Just like the others it picked up where the last left off, but this time it's more of a wrapping up lose ends. Really it's the end of last film. Nothing WOWing happened. I liked the fact the music wasn't just over played rock songs. I could have gone without everyone but Alice's lines. Really, if you see this movie do not pay attention to there lines. Horrable. Still It was a RE movie and it fits. Just not as good as the others, but not bad.
The Possession 3/10
Skip this movie. Nothing was scary in it. I really can't put this in better words than it was lame. I got tired of the relationship crap. I was left disapointed that the one person I wanted to die...might have not died. He got away in a car and was never seen from again. Maybe he did. IDK. Kyra Sedgwick played her normal flatline role. Jeffrey Dean Morgan couldn't sell his character, the girls we meh. Really I knew it be bad since it was PG-13, but I don't even know if the even a 13 year old would find anything really scary.

Judge Dredd in 3-D.. Now I fully understand this unpopular comic franchise appeal... I think I like to live in a world ruled by judge/cop hybrid type of vigilantes. On the same bad-assery level as Robocop and Punisher. Lena Headey as Ma-Ma the druggie queen bitch herself was the true scene stealer.. Yes, lots of people say this was like The Raid Redemption minus the kung fu kick-ass fighting skills. Lots of gun blazing. And I think I wanna try that SLO-MO DRUG that makes you feel like in the Matrix bullet time mode... I wish they could've used that as a weapon to dodging bullets instead of just relaxing and admiring the slow motion effects of the objects around themselves. It was also spectacular seeing the slow motion effect drug when one of the crooks fall 200 feet from the building splatting blood on the pavement. Intense stuff. 10/10. I AM THE LAW!!!
And yes, the subplot of having a psychic rookie blondie judge cop alongside Dredd reminded me of Robocop's sidekick as well. Hehe... Also, this one blows Stallone's version out of the fucking water... And the portrayal of Mega City as he calls it like a huuuge wasteland desert filled with blown buildings and more dirty streets filled with thugs is almost on par with Nolan's dark realistic version of Gotham in Dark Knight Rises.\
My fave scene: Ms. Anderson the rookie reading the black guy's mind of having sexual rape and getting naked in front of him saying, "Welcome to your fucked up head!"
And the other one: Ma-Ma's slow motion free falling from her building after Dredd pushed her out the window right up to the point where her pretty scarred face splats up-close on the ground headfirst with blood splatting all over the screen.
Fucking intense was the low ammo while huuuge ass guns blazing just to take out 2 judges.
10/10. I AM THE LAW!!!

Dark Shadows 2/10 Watched a decent amount of episodes of the Dark Shadows series, but the movie didn't sit well for me. Not sure if the bias opinion I had going in helped or hurt the movie, probably helped. Awful film I thought.
Monster Brawl 4/10 Fun little movie to watch with friends I guess. Has a bunch of monsters in a wrestling tournament, Kevin Nash and Jimmy Hart is in it. Good flick to watch with some wrestling friends and get drunk too. Nothing great about it though.

Snow White and the Huntsman-6/10
Just a really mediocre movie that could have so good but wasn't. I didn't give two shitsabout any of the characters, including Snow White. Kristen Stewart had zero character to work with, which is sad. It's like they told her to just stare worth her eyes half closed and her mouth agape the whole time.
The Queen was the most interesting character, but her lines at the beginning of the film and a brief flashback to her origin don't match up. Everything just seemed to be thrown together and glossed over and made for a very underwhelming feeling.
Killing Them Softly - 4/10
Just boring. The pacing was sluggish, most of the characters were incredibly forgettable, little to nothing actually happens and the movie feels like a series of pointless conversations. I understand that it was supposed to be a symbolic analogy of government/politics/the financial crisis, but there was no real pay-off.

Kristen Stewart?
Pretty certain she was cast because the director had a boner for her for some reason.
Pretty certain she was cast because she is a pretty big/the biggest Hollywood star for the key demographic of movie goers that the film was looking for due to her starring role in the Twilight saga.

Do you read the synopsis of a movie before you watch it or just look at the title and decipher its plot based on that? Did you imagine American Pie was a movie based around a US baking competition, possibly starring a young Lou Diamond Philips, who has to win the national pie baking contest to get the money he needs to save his grandparents farm, and maybe learn a little something about life and love, with the snarky but equally troubled young woman he's competing against, an excellently cast Diane Lane i'd assume? Dude. Sandra Bullock has to be in it. As a clumsy, yet adorable baker.
You suck at casting.
She falls in love with LDP throughout the movie and they win the baking contest together, his cut to save the farm, hers to follow her dream, leave her abusing, cheating husband and open up a zoo-themed bakery.

O_______O. It's the equivalent of David Cronenberg's twisted mind ala Dead Ringers and a bit of Holy Mountain/Kubrick style sequences. I liked the themes of religion, teen angst, losing virginity, birth control, uncontrolled STDs in one movie aside from the ambition of having science taking control over the overprotecting parents..
The ending was just... another scream of, "WHY THE FUCK DID SHE DO THAT?!?! WHAT IS SHE TRYING TO PROVE HERE?!?!"
Although it taught me a lesson about losing virginity without controlled behavior or being paranoid of asking if the girl has STDs. Loved that part btw.

Really does live up to its name. Everyone dies on this one due to "secrets" being revealed by each friend, and a little girl ghost kills them one by one either by luring them to the highway until a truck runs over them or falling in the basement when doors keep slamming shut. I liked the twist subplot of the killer being an adopted brother of the ghost girl before the accident happened at the start of the movie. Weird-ass shit going on here.

I do think this will get an unworthy amount of praise though come award season
Oh, also....
The Real Rocky - 10/10
A biography on Chuck Wepner. Fucking Sylvester Stallone basically stole this dude's identity to make millions. Seriously. And fucking SYLVESTER STALLONE IS INDUCTED IN THE BOXING HALL OF FAME DUE TO THE ROCKY CHARACTER and CHUCK WEPNER, the guy who KNOCKED DOWN Muhammed Ali, is NOT in the hall of fame, and he's selling liquor in his hometown while being married to his third wife.
the 30 for 30 one right? Highly questionable, I'd say he inspired the basic "journeyman gets a title shot" aspect at most. And Wepner stepped on Ali's foot, bullshit knockdown http://www.tpww.net/forums/images/icons/icon12.gif

The Grey
6.0/10
I can't remember the last time I saw a movie that tried so hard to get you to care about the characters while doing so little to develop them.
Some of the action scenes are fun, and there is a palpable tension throughout the movie, however, I felt it bogged down in the middle and wandered aimlessly toward the end.
Speaking of the ending, it would've been nice if this movie had one.
I realize they're trying to go for the 'assumed' ending, but when your final scene depicts Liam Neeson duct-taping broken shooters to his fists in a last stand against an alpha wolf, you might as well go all the way with it.
Instead, the movie ends at the last possible second before the fight ensues.
Not a terrible movie, but it tries to take itself way more seriously than it should.

The Room - I really don't know how to rate this. It was good, but only because it was so bad that it was actually entertaining. If that makes sense. :-\
I watched it last night was a group of friends, so that was probably what made it so good, that we could all laugh at it. I get the feeling if I watched it alone, I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did.
So I guess if I rate it by how much I enjoyed it last night, I'd give it something like 8/10.

Taken - 7.5/10, possibly nudging to an 8. I do like Liam Neeson.

Finally seen Avengers, Joss Whedon took what could have easily turned into a complete clusterfuck and delivered a thoroughly entertaining film. 8/10

Paranormal Activity 4-4/10
There were some cool parts involving a Kinect sensor and some visible spirits, but other than that, this franchise has run its course. Sadly, it looks like PA5 is going to take place in all Spanish. Hooray.

There is a post credits scene, which doesn't really explain anything.

I don't know how people disliked the ending to The Grey. I am assuming they are stupid.

On the real! Not sure how having a 10 second fight between a man and a wolf would make the film any better.

It may not have made the movie any better, but you would at least get a clear resolution from a final fight, no matter the outcome.
What I find to be the particularly glaring issue with the ending is that it felt severely misplaced to me, especially when you consider how absurd the rest of the movie is.
The entire movie is about these guys surviving ridiculous circumstances - (circumstances which should have surely killed them 15 minutes into the film), all the while fighting off poorly rendered CG wolves, jumping off cliffs and surviving, making working tightropes out of shirts to cross chasms, and they cap it off with Liam Neeson taping shooters to his fists.
After all that they tack on a non-ending in an effort to induce a poignant cliffhanger, so they can try and get the audience to empathize with a character that's barely been developed.
When your movie has spent the previous 115 minutes fully embracing it's preposterous premise, it might as well commit to it through the end, rather than turn pretentious for the finale.
Like I said, it tried to take itself way more seriously than it should.

You get a very clear resolution to the film. I maintain that the ending is as perfect as it can get for this story. There is only one possible outcome to one man vs. a pack of wolves, and it isn't guy kills all wolves then a rescue helicopter flies over and everything is just dandy bars. The film ends with Ottway being done with running, making his stand, and knowing full well that he's done. But he's going out on his own terms. Not drowning in a river or falling off a cliff. Once more into the fray. That's the resolution, not something as pat as whether he gets rescued or not.
The main problem with The Grey was that it was marketed as Liam Neeson vs. Wolves, and that's not what it is at all. Just because the premise and some of the events of a film are preposterous, it doesn't mean the film itself was. There's not a lot of films that have genuinely realistic premises and characters. The characters are developed enough, it's just in a much more subtle way than most films. I didn't find any of them to be stock character like you might think you'd see in a film like this.
