...because I know there has been a lot of mixed feelings about the Taker/Batista title match at Mania, but I can see a really good way the WWE can build the next big star, while at the same time, giving those Taker marks (and lets face it, there are a LOT of them), what they want to see.

We arrive at Mania and after a close match, we see Undertaker laying out the animal, and Mania closing with the lights low and Undertaker raising the belt high, ushering in a new era with him as champ.

Over the next few PPV's, we get a Taker rematch with Batista, and various feuds with guys like maybe Kane/Benoit, to get them back in the title hunt and restablish them in good, close matches with Taker. Maybe in the last PPV before Summerslam, have Taker use a chair on Benoit to win, controversy, but let it just be commented on briefly and left to lie.

On the Smackdown after, have Undertaker come out and claim to have beaten everyone at their peak, and that he can't think of a suitable Summerslam opponent. Have Jeff Hardy come out (need a popular, yet sympathetic character), show clips of the ladder match they had and let him announce he wants another shot, because he feels he is at his peak now, and better than he was then, whereas taker is on the way down (cue Taker not pleased). In the build, have Undertaker become slightly darker, reference the chair shot that denied Benoit, question if Undertaker can keep up with Hardy in that atmosphere.

At Summerslam, have a great match be ended with a vicious spot, chokeslam off a ladder say, and have Taker get the win and decimate Hardy after the bell, have him snap, do the whole eye roll thing after the bell as he chokes out Hardy as officials and other wrestlers desperately attempt to free him.

Smackdown after, Matt Hardy comes down and asks for a match with Taker for what he did to his brother. Taker, in darker attire (slightly), comes down and dishes out more of the same for Matt.

In the following weeks, have Taker become more and more dark (does not need to be supernatural stuff), and return to a similar look that he had around the Ministry of Darkness period. Have him feud with a face Booker, give him a strong Survivor Series showing in a weaker team, finish on the winning side, and for the last PPV of the year or the Rumble, bring back Foley and let them go crazy....just built Taker as ruthless, vicious and unbeatable.

On the same show, have Kennedy, who has been kept at tweener status and had success in good feuds all year. enter the Rumble at a decent number (around 20) and throw out a face Edge (to challenge HHH for Raw) as the last two....the mic drops and Kennedy announces that he is going to WrestleMania.

Keep Kennedy cocky, keep him strong, saying that Taker once said he has beaten everyone at their peak...and that his peak is still to come. Build it like an oldstyle feud, Undertaker beating down Kennedy, but Kennedy coming back fearless each week. have the fans knowing they hate each other and they just can't wait til Mania.

Mania roles round and they get a good time to really go at it....loooong match...and just as it looks like nothing will give, Taker, in his fatigue, makes a mistake, Kennedy wins the match and announces himself the new champion as Mania goes off the air.

Taker has had a busy year, but it gives a great retrospect of his career and allows him to be used heavily, for all his fans, one last time, to be booked strongly, and to really give Kennedy the ultimate thrust into stardom at the end of it.

That'll never happen.

It's too smart, assumes Taker will put over Kennedy, assumes Taker will work a regular schedule, and assumes the WWE writers can plan more than three weeks in advance. ;)

Pssh WWE creative doesn't think more than a week at a time, let alone a year
