Chris Cornell leaves Audioslave

Chris Cornell has dropped the bomb. In a press release sent out to announce the release of Cornell’s new solo album Carry On (out May 1st) the singer also announces he’s leaving Audioslave. “Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave,” Cornell said. “I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors.”

To be honest I dont see any reunions in the near future. Maybe when he old and thinks he needs a bit more cash, then he may do a reunion tour.

Hated audioslave, Soundgarden reuniting would be great, RATM wouldn't. I love Rage and everything, I jut have a really bad feeling that if they made any more records they would turn out to be really radio friendly.

The title of the album was based on Ray Bradbury (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Bradbury)'s 1962 novel Something Wicked This Way Comes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Something_Wicked_This_Way_Comes_%28novel%29).


Most of Morello's guitar with Lock Up is unlike his work with (then-future band) Rage Against the Machine. His solos mainly consist of arpeggios, tapping and overall fast fretwork, although evidence of his experimenting with the toggle switch can be heard in a couple of tracks ("Nothing New", "Punch Drunk"). The album defeats any claim that Morello is purely an "effect-based" guitarist.


Disappointing sales of the album led to the band being dropped by Geffen and the band's eventual break-up. Grillo was later frontman for the "homocore" band Extra Fancy (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:zgse4j572wae%7ET1).


Brad Wilk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brad_Wilk), the drummer for Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audioslave), met Morello for the first time when Wilk unsuccessfully auditioned for Lock Up.

Rage getting back together is amazing. Cornell now need to pick up his phone, find his guitarist from Soundgarden and make a new band with him.

Yeah, the transition wasn't so drastic with Pantera IMo. Remember, MOrello's considered to be incapable of doing anything other than playing with effects.

Which is BS, even if his RATM stuff is meh.

Lockup's song "24 Hour Man" is very catch, I'll say that for it.

I really only bought it because I like Extra Fancy, and when I found out Grillo had another record, and then found Morello was on it, I NEEDED to have the record.

Morello's guitar work is technically great, it's just not my kind of music for the most part.
