I'm all out of ideas. Every system I try is full of contradictions.

Not sure exactly how you mean.

I'm talking about my MP3s. I don't know how to classify them. Right now, they're by genre, but there's too many and it's not efficient. So tell me how you do it so I can compare. Alphabetically, artists...?

If you're using an MP3 player, you should be able to choose different ways to display the music. It should have a main menu that'll let you display the songs alphabetically, by artist, etc..

If you're talking about just in general, maybe just simplify the way you label the genres. My music is only in like 5 different genres.

Segregate them by race.

I personally like arranging them by artist better, but I only listen to rock, country, jazz, and blues.

I update my Mp3 player alot so I never really take much notice of the apparently alphabetical order, your best bet is to do as I do; just get used to where things are, and try to remember, over time it works. It did for me.

Oh and great taste Steele :y: You rarely find any Jazz fans around anymore

I classify alphabetically by artist. Just seems the easiest to me.

I do it by Album. If I have loose songs, then alphabetically.

i have two categories

"Galvanize"

and

"Not Galvanize"

so i put all of the songs not galvanize into their corresponding folder, then q-tip raps n galves!

I was talking about folders on my computer. Sorry, If I am not being clear.

I do by default Artist>>>Album.

My MP3 Player, which I'm looking to back up on my HDD, has 430 artists, so that might not work for you. On my HDD, I have more like 40 artists.

On my comp, I just go Artist-Album, with each song saying Artist-Title. Any loose songs go in one folder.

I can't imagine sorting my MP3's any other way besides by artist-album.

Yeah, Artist and Album work best for me.

Like I have it set up like this:

Bob Dylan Folder.

-Album
-Album
-Album

For loose songs, I have a "Misc Songs" folder.

KK you're such a poser, I bet you have a pink ipod which you clip to your jean pockets too, and probably a matching handbag:roll:

Artist > Album > and songs named by Track Number then Title. If I download any songs I put them in the right Artist > Album folder and then use my media player to mass tag them with all the correct information and then use it to rename all the files to the right names (01 track).

My media player sorts them by artist, then the albums (sorted chronologically), and then by track number.

By the way, Zelda, the reason I was confused at first is that I initially thought you meant how you classified them in terms of genre, not where you stored them and how. Dunno if that makes sense. :p
