I'll probably get a lot of disagreement from this, but i gotta say Taker.
I see people saying "he should retire" "he's too old for this anymore".
Have you looked at the guy at all? He looks in better shape than a lot of the younger guys. And he can do a lot more than "still go". He still does the suicide dive ffs. Every one of his matches may not be fantastic, but he still delivers some really great matches. Better than any other bigman in the industry I can think of.
Kane is a close second in my opinion. Very close though. Kane has got all the tools to be the best bigman around. The problem is he doesn't really use them well. Kane can consistently put on a good match. And thats awesome. But I can't think of one match that hes been in that I've thought "Holy shit that was awesome!". Barring the survivors series match against shane-o-mac but that was very gimmicky so I dont really count that. Otherwise abyss is wrestler of the year.

It's Undertaker by far.

In the big matches he always performs...
It's gotta be 'Taker.

Undertaker easily. Followed by his "brother" Kane.

Well put, and that's part of the reason why I dislike him. He has put on some tremendous matches "when they count." His 'Mania match with HHH a few years back was fantastic. Ditto the matches he had with Angle over the WWE Title last winter. Whenever he's involved in a big-match environment, he shines.
But I think he tends to half-ass it a little bit when he's in the midcard. Really the only midcard 'Taker match that stands out in my mind is the ladder match he had with Hardy, but even that was advertised heavily beforehand and was the night's main attraction.

I think Kane would be on the same level as the Undertaker, except the WWE does not use his tools well. Kane is generally given less desireable opponents AND put into stupid ass storylines that would hinder the best of matches; just because the crowd will think the entire thing is retarded. A lot of times too, Kane is left off of pay per views, stuck in meaningless tag matches or stuck in one-on-one matches with a horrible storyline attached to it.
I think the Undertaker is given more chances to shine and put in better situations that favour him and thus has more chances to produce better quality matches.
But I agree with you in that the Undertaker is the best big man in professional wrestling today.

Yeah I dunno, even when kane has been put in programs with guys like angle and triple H, they have been good matches, but nothing at the Level when taker shines. But kane is Consistently good at least, whereas taker does drop a stinker from time to time, which is why I was on the fence about ranking him lower. But Being able to put on fantastic matches when it counts, is better than being simply good all the time imo.

I see what you are saying too. I cannot recall a 5 star match or "Holy Shit that was Awesome" match from Kane, even when he was given a solid opponent and good feud. There are a few really good ones, but none that REALLY standout.
In his defense, I don't think he's ever really been required to have a HOLY SHIT match, except for a couple matches with Shane that you mentioned. He's never had to carry the company and all that has ever really been required from him is a 'good' match.
I guess a lot of my argument relies on "IFS" and "BUTS" and since it is his job to try and have the best match possible, yet still hasn't produced a HOLY SHIT match in his career; more than likely makes you right.

Hoyt! Hoyt! Hoyt! Hoyt! :Shifty:
Taker has really picked up his game, if you were to ask me the same question when he had long hair and was a biker, he was god awful, that was a few years ago now, since then he's been alot better in his matches.
I don't like the way he just changes his fighting style when he feels like it, like over the past year he thinks he's a UFC shooter, but I have to agree that there's no other big men who can go at the same pace and put on as good a match as Taker
I'd also like to give an honrable mention to Abyss as I think he's had some stella matches over recent years
