Smackdown spoilers from San Diego
by David Romero
I dont have full results. Building was sold out big time.
Batista opened the show cutting a promo on the Undertaker explaining
what he did and why at No Way Out.
There was a 6 Man Tag... Deuce & Domino & Mercury beat Matt Hardy,
Kendrick & London
Chavo Guerrero beat Scotty 2 Hotty. Worm got a big pop, hadn't seen
it a while.
They ran the Mr. Perfect Hall of Fame video, it got a good ovation
from the crowd.
Booker T. beat Kane in the Money in the Bank Qualifying Match. Match
was pinfalls count anywhere. Great Kahali came out and interfered
throwing Kane thru a barrier around ringside and Booker pinned him.
Finlay & Little Bastard beat Boogeyman & Mini Boogeyman. Funny
entertaining match.
They ran a promo saying Undertaker will speak next week.
Rey Misterio came out to a huge pop and updated us on his status,
saying he's getting better, and is recovering ahead of schedule.
Mr. McMahon and 20 security guards showed up to spoil the fun. He
made fun of Rey's size and asked him who he though would win the
battle of the billionaires. Rey called Vince a loser. Then he brought
out Umaga, and gave Rey a chance to change his answer. And then
McMahon nailed him before Umaga destroyed him in the middle of the
ring. Pretty good segment. I believe the show ended there.
Batista beat Mr. Kennedy to retain the World Title. As he begun to
celebrate, the lights went out, you heard a gong, lights on and the
Undertaker is in the ring. He chokeslamed Batista and then left. Big
pop for the Undertaker.
That was the end of the show. It was a fun show. Credit: Wrestling Observer
ROFL at Kennedy jobbing to both Batista and Lashley on the same night.
So I'm guessing there's gonna be a Kane/Khali thing going on?
First of all, Kane/Booker should have been at Mania, or they should have made that a regular match and allowed both in the MITB with a draw ending.
Secondly, STOP MOVING KHALI AROUND THE FUCKING SHOWS! He's been to SmackDown!, ECW, RAW and now back to SmackDown! within like four months...

Look's like Kane's going to do another Wrestlemania job.

Look's like Kane's going to do another Wrestlemania job.
I could see them giving him the win and hopefully then putting him into a programme with Taker for the title
Mabye it's a brand vs brand thing?
Considering on RAW he said "I want competition", sounds more like he's moved.

If he wants competition, he could learn to wrestle.

Mysterio fed to Umaga. As much as I dislike the munchkin, even this is terrible by the recent standards.
Vince & 20 security guards? WTF?

He's a big man.
He doesn't need to learn how to wrestle.

I don't really believe this either. He looked like a contender to Batista at the Rumble, yet they are jobbing him out left and right again. I thought he had a chance against Lashley considering they will let anyone be ECW champion, but i guess not Kennedy either.

according to that report, the batista/kennedy world title match was a dark match.

It sounds like it'd be a regular match, though. I mean, why would you end your show on Rey Mysterio getting owned? Taker making a surprise entrance and chokeslamming Batista would be a much better show ender.
Then again, should I even be surprised at any illogicality these days?

But Batista cut a promo and they advertised Undertaker would be speaking next week. I think that covers their hype for this week. It shouldn't end with a chokeslam or a batistabomb every night. I think the Rey show ender would make sense since they're trying to build Trumps pick for next week
And Rey being in San Diego.

Yeah, Batista/Kennedy was apparently a dark match.
I am still hoping for something with The Hardys, MNM and London & Kendrick at WrestleMania. London, Kendrick and Matt team tonight, Jeff just lost the IC Title, Melina is feuding with Ashley, it could all work out.
Chavo Guerrero and Scotty 2 Hotty continue to earn my love. While their match on SmackDown! probably won't blow anyone away, it will likely be a solid affair between two guys who can work in blindfolds.
King Booker being in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match is meh. Kane better go over Khali at WrestleMania. I know they like to put over their new monsters every now and then, but Khali has constantly failed, and Kane has constantly succeeded. Kane going over would be a nice thank you for See No Evil. Come on, WWE, do it.
There really was no need to do another "Mixed" Tag Team Match. Finlay and Little Bastard going over again is good, but where to from here? A wrestling match with someone like Shannon Moore could have been a great way to introduce him to the SmackDown! audience. Helms could have worked as a face to try and get his "I want to play with the heavyweights" character over. It just seems like a waste to me.
I think it would have been better if Batista beat-down Rey. It would have gotten him over more as a heel. Umaga really doesn't need to be on SmackDown!. I guess Vince McMahon appearing does add legitimacy to the brand (to some extent).
The show seems fairly short. Hopefully this means a fair amount of time for the six-man and the cruiserweights. Why do I get the feeling that is not the case, though?
I would have loved to have seen Finlay and Little Bastard vs. The Boogeyman changed to Finlay vs. Shannon Moore, and a US Title Match between Chris Benoit and MVP. Having Helms do commentary during the cruiserweight match would have been a nice touch, too. Apart from that, a fairly decent show.

The only thing is, I don't think Batista is a heel and I really don't see them turning him unfortunately.

If Wrestlemania doesn't feature at least one heel-turn in the main event, I'm gonna be severely disappointed.

I'm still holding out for a Cena heel turn. Seriously, since he won the WWE United States Championship from Big Show at WrestleMania XX, a voice in the back of my head has been telling me "John Cena is one day going to be the mega-heel of the WWE". I honestly believe that to be true.
Stop making him the next Stone Cold, stop making him the next Hogan, make him the next Corporate Champion.
