View Full Version : How I'd Fix TNA ... (I feel like ranting)

Shit I'd do to fix TNA's many different problems...

The first thing I would do is fire Vince Russo. As a relatively new company, TNA does not need a washed up, ego driven, overpaid writer who buried the old WCW company. Not too mention a guy who has heat with the majority of the lockeroom.
---
The second thing I would do is get rid of that damn six sided ring and go back to a four sided ring. The six sided ring is terrible, awkward looking and takes the piss out of tag team matches.

I'd also cut out all the fucking gimmick matches. Limit each pay per view to ONE gimmick match and limit your television show to ONE gimmick match every 3 months. I am so disgusted by the overuse of gimmick matches in TNA.
---
Another aspect I would do is fire talent that you do not use (TNA seems to have realized this with the firing of A-1, David Young & Elix Skipper) and also let guys go who clearly do not want to be a part of the company. Guys like Ron Killings who has repeatedly asked for his release from his contract, and guys like BG and Kip James who have openly buried the company and said they'd leave in a heartbeat. You do not need workers who do not appreciate the (probably overpaid) checks you are giving them; especially when in a new company.
---
I'd only bring out 15 wrestlers out to your television tapings:
Top 5 Headliners
Kurt Angle - Sting - Samoa Joe - Christian Cage - Scott Steiner

Top 3 X-Division Wrestlers
AJ Styles - Christopher Daniels - Alex Shelley

Top 2 Tag Teams
LAX w/Konnan - Team 3D

So idealy you'll only have these 13 workers under contract who will be the ones you build your company around. Then I'd bring in 3-4 additional guys per show that are reliable workers who can have good television matches with the guys you want to build your company around... Guys like Rhino, Chris Sabin, AMW

The rest of the guys you bring in for Pay Per Views should only be paid for their one time appearence, much like any independant show.
---
Other important factors I think are...
-Stop constantly mentioning the World Wrestling Entertainment. Do your own thing and stop worrying about what they are doing.
-Get the hell out of Orlando
-Work on securing a 2 hour timeslot in order to expand your company.

Hire this Maruis Van Corr and have him face Monty BRown. Main Event City.

By the way, from the looks of things, firing Russo wouldn't help. You notice that he's the one complaining right now? It's like they want to suck ass.

Otherwise, you've covered some solid stuff. 2 hours, don't mention WWE every 20 seconds, only kep people you're gonna use and who want to be there....

That is easy, just give Paul Heyman complete control and final say over everything except for the financial aspects.

You claim it's broken as if it was ever working to begin with.

And I really doubt the number of sides the ring has is pushing the difference between MAKE IT and BREAK IT here. They've already done it, hyped it up, and sat with it. Might as well sit with it a while longer. It's not like fans are turning the show off because WTF IT HAS SIX SIDES?!?!

I don't mind the six sided ring.

I completely agree with the overuse of gimmick matches. The more you use them, the less exciting the are when announced. I find WWE even uses gimmick matches a little too often, but still they do an ok job with not over using them.

Make more home grown talent. I have no problems with already established guys in the main event scene, or upper mid card. If they can't make stars, and rely too heavily on established stars, they're not going to make it in the long run. Sometimes I find WWE relies too much on home grown talent and not on guys like Benoit. I do understand why they push home grown talent more. I don't always agree with it, but whatever.

Russo does have potential, just don't give him full creative control.

Have Jim Cornett book a lot of the shows. He's basically doing nothing as the on air boss.

The X division, although a fast pased flippy spot monkey fest usually, was one fo the things that made TNA unique (in a good way). Right now, the whole division is viewed as a joke. Fix that.

I agree with VKM. They're just pissed that they were released for good reasons in the WWE and aren't making as much money as they used to. I'd say burry their asses, then release them.

At least for me this would make TNA more enjoyable.

a 0 sided ring.

TNA has the best Roster in the country IMHO. If they could use them right it would be great.

They need to drop the gimmick matches, your right. They make up too many stupid ass matches. Last rites match? X-Scape! Every match they have is made up, they throw so much shit at the wall, yet none of it sticks. The only match they have made up that works is the Ultimate X. King of the Moutain was a decent idea done wrong, but it is just too damn complicated.

The world X Cup was sweet, not it is shit. The Candido Cup was awesome. They should do soemthing like that again. A random Tourney where there is no Title invloved, but it is an honor, ala KOTR. Its like the Copa Del Ray. It works.

The matches we have are meta-physical where we just stand around and ponder whether or not we're fighting each other.

It seems as if Cornette is now overseeing the whole thing. At least according to the latest TNA news. Before everything is presented, Cornette scans through it and eliminates stuff he thinks doesn't make sense or is ridiculous.

I think Cornette and Heyman would work well together. Yes, they have two different styles, and yes, they don't get along, but they are both great wrestling minds, and if they found a way to improve each other's ideas...gold.
