View Full Version : What the heck is TNA doing with Alex Shelley?

Seriously... He wins the PCS and then goes on to do absolutley NOTHING, including barely being on screen. The PCS did an excellent job of building up his character and he was immensely over in the actual final match against Austin Starr.
They missed out on a chance there... Shelley won a tournament over multiple X-Division stars. He should have started to talk big, how he is the X-Division and now he's going to go after the X-Title to prove it. Then Jerry Lynn or somebody would point out that the majority of the PCS was crap like musical chairs and poker and means squat.... but Shelley would just continue to hype his accomplishment as immense. And Sabin would just be "Pffffffft. I'm better than you ALL. I don't need to prove it in some tournament." and then Jerry Lynn would be like "I get no respect.... no respect at all"
Meanwhile, you'd have Austin Starr doing his thing, upset at losing and hoping to get all the attention back, and Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt doing what they're doing with Nash.
I mean, seriously... it's not that hard. Usually the winner of a tournament would go on to do SOMETHING. But in this case, the winner has barely been seen, and all the losers seem to have more screen time and a bigger push than he does.

Alex Shelley reminds me of a young Chris Jericho.
I think he's better then Chris Jericho.

And they're wasting him away as a guy who videotapes other people's angles, while not actually appearing infront of the camera.

TNA's becoming a bigger joke. I watched tonight, segments were awful. And for a place that claims they are wrestling they put on a pretty shitty 5 man ladder match.
Since their roster is more talented than WWE's wouldn't it outshine the MITB and TLC matches? Nah, not even close. Jeff Hardy/Nitro on Raw was better than this sloppy shit.

Alex Shelley is indeed awesome. If he left TNA and went to WWE, I could see him as kind of the WWE's version of WCW Chris Jericho. If you catch my drift?
Sabin and Shelley feuding over the X-Division Championship would be pretty fucking sweet.

If I was running TNA I would have made certain that Alex Shelley would have gotten a huge push LAST YEAR. It is quite a shame that they have not capitalized on him because he is money in the ring and on the microphone.

Let's not forget here that the match was like 5 mins long. It's tough to pull off a good ladder match in 5 mins.

I do think the comparisons to Chris Jericho are a little over the top. Come on, it is Chris Jericho. The man who has main evented WrestleMania. The first man ever to beat both The Rock and Austin in the same night to become the FIRST EVER Undisputed Champion. The man who has faced off against Austin, Rock, Hogan, Flair, HHH, Michaels, Undertaker, Angle, Booker, Kane, Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko, RVD, Liger, Cena... The man who could dual microphones with the likes of The Rock. The man who could pull good matches out of a hunk of drywall.
CHRIS F'N JERICHO!

I think comparisons of Lionheart and Alex Shelley are not unjust, though. The guy is a rare blend of charisma and wrestling ability. If Chris Jericho were still in the business, Alex Shelley should have definitely become his Padawan. :(

Yeah, I agree that Alex Shelley definitely has wrestling ability and the right charisma, but if you begin comparing him to Chris Jericho at such a early stage in his career he'll be doomed. I doubt he can live up to thse expectations that people will associate with him.
Another major deterant in my opinion is Alex Shelley's size. Alex Shelley is WAY smaller than Jericho and I doubt he will be able to ascend to the heavyweight level and have anything close to the success that Jericho had because he looks too much like a cruiserweight.
Not to mention the fact that he is stuck in TNA. Where he can't even get a X-Division title push after hanging out with Kevin Nash and winning a tournament.

He certainly has the Jericho look and the Jericho way about the ring, the way he moves etc.
Didn't someone say Shelley was gay, or was that a joke? You have to be straight and suck cock to get anywhere in wrestling.
