We just got word from an insider at MTV that the decision has been made to cancel the Wrestling Society X series. Apparently, MTV made the call earlier today, presumably due to the drop in ratings for the show. The phrase being used at MTV today was that the series was to be finished "effective immediately". It's not known if any of the remaining episodes will ever air on MTV or not at this point but the word at the MTV office is that the series will not be renewed. There are still six unaired episodes from the original filming.

After a solid start for the show, the ratings had dropped to the point where it wasn't even meeting the night's average on the network. Given that it was a wrestling show, the feeling is that it was expected to have to outperform the other programming in order to keep its slot. When it didn't, it became immediately vulnerable.

Last week's show was pulled from MTV's lineup either due to low ratings or because MTV, which had OK'd all of the shows scripts, had a problem with a fireball slot on the show, depending on who you believe.

Big Vision Entertainment, which produced the show, will retain rights to WSX and can market it to other networks or direct to DVD if they choose to do so.

Maybe if they didn't have stupid explosions and a paid audience they would have lasted longer than 3 weeks.

I liked WSX, personally. Wasn't the most substancial thing ever, but I'd take wrestling with ADHD over the stupid shit the WWE produces every week.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with the WSX guys. Will TNA snatch up Vampiro and Waltman now that they've had a little more exposure? It wasn't a huge amount, but ah well. Justin Credible actually competed there under that name, didn't he? Does he own the rights to it, now? I can see him being an interesting mid-carder somewhere.

Jack Evans and Matt Sydal are probably going to focus on ROH, but there is money to be made in those guys, specifically Jack Evans. I may not be a huge fan of the guy, but the shit he does in the ring is amazing and eye-catching. If the WWE wants to "recreate the Nitro days", Jack Evans is a must for SmackDown!'s Cruiserweight Division. Fuck, stick him with Harry Smith, TJ Wilson and Nattie Neidhart as The New Hart Foundation.

Am I the only one who wouldn't mind seeing him be signed? If TNA signs him, put him in VKM.
If WWE signs him, put him in DX.

then release him a couple months later.

85% of Raw is hella boring.

The only person I care about in WWE's main event scene is HBK. I love their midcard, but they're midcard is so fucking underused it's not even funny. Granted, they've had some good matches by WWE standards recently (Punk/Nitro, etc.) but good by WWE standards doesn't do much for me. WSX entertained me, which WWE hasn't done in awhile.

My general opinion was that

Smackdown! > RAW > TNA > WSX > ECW.

...And every so often, TNA might even move down a notch or two, only to jump back up to its normal spot next week. Clearly, the fall of WSX isn't real devestating to me...but having it not be there's a little gayer than having it be there.

So, didn't WSX just have a bunch of hacks that only made a medicore name in WCW and WWE as opposed to TNA which is a bunch of hacks that made a decent name in WCW and WWE along with a few overrated indy workers?

Theo Dious
03-01-2007, 02:25 PM
And a small handful of people who don't want to work for Vince at all, or whom Vince wouldn't employ.

LOL @ the overrated indy workers comment. Cuase you know, if people like them, and theWWE hasn't signed them, they're overrated.

That's actually true. If they were worth a damn then Vince would sign them and then blatantly misuse them.

I refer you to a former comment of myself (paraphrased): "Every wrestler is either overrated or underrated by the IWC."

WSX was fucking dumb. It was kinda funny for a second, but that second passed quickly. No psychology or anything. Just a huge spot fest with explosions. Good riddance.
