i know i know, weve all known for months and months (i knew in june) that venom is confirmed for spiderman 3 but why are they continuing to keep him under wraps so much? As a kid, he was my favorite comic book charcter period, and im begining to wonder if maybe they know hes a BIG deal in the realm of spiderman and not just another "doctor octopus" type of charcter?

oh yea.....VROOOM VROOM.

I agree in the sense that doc oc was a MUCH more old school charcter then venom but look at all the trailers for the movie...think about how much youve seen of the sandman and the new (gay as fuck) green goblin.....then comparre that to the 1-2 seconds of venom weve seen in the most recent trailer, kinda odd?

but man, it IS cool for those 2 seconds lol

I have a horrible feeling that Venom is hardly going to be IN the movie.

I read a small run through of a script that was online...it said that Venom would only be seen for about 10 minutes...if that....now please dont take that as a fact because I believe on good authority that the script was just a fake one written by a fan.

As far as what Venom looks like...we started getting Spiderman 3 toys in at work that we cant put on the shelf till later this month...in it there is a Venom figure. Granted its Mega Blocks but the figure does look kinda like this one...

http://www.tpww.net/forums/showthread.php?t=56528

except it looks like how Venom really looks like in the cartoon and comics except with the grey spidy lines

Mainly because Raimi doesn't like showing a lot of his movies in previews and stuff. He likes to surprise the audience.

Also its been confirmed by Raimi himself, that venom is only at the end.

Which if he is there at the end, has to leave the door open for another movie

If they plan on doing Venom right he better not be in this one for longer than 10 minutes because the Black Smybiote Spider-Man story is the key to the whole Venom story, if they rush that, then Venom means shit. Venom as a key character, villain whatever should be saved for 4.

Rami has stated that he want's to do more of them, but I doubt most of the other main cast want to, I read somewhere that Jake Gyllenhaal was offered the part ni Spidey 2 if Maguire couldn't do it, which would be a great choice IMO

Has it ever occured to you that there not showing much of Venom because theres not much to show? I mean, he's quite possibly, and quite probably, only featured in one scene at the end, maybe two.
So since we've seen a clip of his face, that they choose to hide, maybe theres not much more to see until Spiderman 4.

oh and for the record Doc Ock > Venom 7 days a week and twice on Sundays. Especially in the comics.

You know with all this talk of venom coming at the end...it kinda makes you wonder if they could pull off a "Maximium Carnage" series in the next few movies...it would kinda be hard tho since they cant just have 800 new charcters appear with no backstory...this isnt the WWE.

It's called 'anticipation'.

Right. So they make an actual trailer with Venom in it, advertise him through merchandise, confirm him...

But they actively persue to cover him up because of "anticipation."

I wouldn't advertise the last 10 minutes of my movie either.

the 4th movie is already set to be out in 2009. Venom Im sure will have a big part of that movie.

The 4th movie. That's if they are thinking about doing something on the Lizard, or Vulture, Scorpion, Electro. The possibilities are endless.

I'm curious to know if they bring Venom in the right way in this film.

After hearing all this Venom talk...and that he might only be seen in the end of the movie...this is what I think will happen...

Spiderman goes with the symbiot suit and gets rid of it in the clocktower...just like we see in the trailer...(lets say that this happens right before the final battle in the movie with sandman)...

Then after Spiderman wins and him and Mary Jane are seen doing their happy thing we cut to Brock standing under the clocktower acting pissed at Spiderman (or something...hell if I know)...but suddenly we see the suit start to drop on him...we then see him transform...and then that scene we see in the end of the trailer where Venom jumps at the screen happens....and the screen cuts to credits....

It would leave it open to a Spiderman 3 or possibly a Venom movie in the future...

Also noted that Tobey McGuire came out yesterday stating that Spiderman 3 would be his final Spiderman movie...but we all know what the power of money can do to some people

El Fangel

That would be a cool way to end the movie, and sets the road for the next up pretty well, it makes Venoms fans thirst.

Umm.. This is Spiderman 3....

McGuire I think I read has back problems so doing another probabily isn't a good idea.

Blitz

Maguire says 3 will be his last one. Dunst and Raimi aren't sure if they'd be back either.

Wow, the one good comic to silver screen translation that isnt getting old, and everyone looks foward too....and the major players, right down to the director , might want to pull a jerry signfeld when it isnt even the right time at all? Great, now spidermans 4 sucess is somewhat in question. Im kinda pissed beacuse liek i said, this is a RARE sucess that a comic book to movie idea worked (2 was pretty good, one was amazing) and actually has sequels that are really antcipated.

Good point, with the way wwe has let me down lately, i guess the movies could end up a lot worse then i think they might without certain actors.....but it still kinda pisses me off none the less.

It's also worth noting that before Ghost Rider, I saw a promo of the Spider-Man movie, with Eddie Brock getting slimed. And before that, there was one of their "Cinemark Sneak Peaks" that showed Brock, getting dripped on, not to mention an interview with Topher Grace.

They are SO trying to hide it because they don't want to play up the very end of the movie!

Tobey is a good fit for early years parker, but horrible for the current older version. Better to find someone else for the next ones.

Well, besides the fact it's the film's end, why the hiding on Venom... simple. Because of the fan boys and their bitching. People are already bitching about Goblin part 2, but once they see Venom, you're gonna get the ol' "OH, WHY'S HE SO SMALL, WHY'S HE THIS, WHY THE WEBS, is he gonna eat brains?" Who cares? There's a Spidey movie, so be happy there is one.

I had this discussion with my friend earlier and I told him this that, no matter what, this will NOT stop them from making Spiderman movies. It didn't stop with X-men after Singer left, and it won't even with a Spidey mass exodus. It makes money after all, and it doesn't stop people from making shitty remakes for that matter.

I would be happy to see Dunst leave though. God, she annoys the hell out of me and doubt she cares for it either.

First off, to something someone else said...Tobey is pretty meh. I know people are all over him, but he's not irreplacable.

Second, more directed at you, the whole thing about hiding it because people will bitch. That seems so totally moot, but also it seems to have no bearing in reality.

Said this before, its cause of Raimi. He doesn't like showing things off before the movie comes out. If he could, he wouldn't show any previews or anything but he realizes he hs to promote it somewhat.
