View Full Version : Is it now weird for anyone else?
To type "WWF" when talking about WWE before 2002? It is for me, seems pretty unnatural. And I thought "WWE" was horrible when they changed it.

Yeah I know what ya mean. WWF is the animal stuff only for me now.

I just type WWE no matter what era I'm talking about. It was weird when it first switched over, but now that I realise it, I had like 3 years of internet talk about WWF and 5 of WWE. So I've probably type WWE far more than I ever did WWF.

Ya I totally feel that. At first I vowed never type WWE and keep with WWF, that fell through. Mind you, when you talk to old guys who havne't watched wrestling in like 10 years, if you talk wrestling you say WWF.

BTW, it is The WWF but only WWE. Get it right you faggots.
Yeah, that annoys me when someone says "The WWE is a horrible promotion" or something. That's like saying "The World Wrestling Entertainment is a horrible promotion", which is horrible grammar.

I pretty much always type WWF when referring to when it was still known as such. I type WWE when discussing after the name change.

I always call it WWF to people who don't watch it. I don't really want to have to explain why its not called it anymore.

To be fair, I've not had to explain it for a long time.
Funny though, my ex believed I was lying about Chris Jericho being real. It was the other Christmas and I guess she was going to buy me a wrestling figure for a joke present. She actually rung me up and asked 'Do you like John Cena?'

What do you mean she didn't believe Chris Jericho isn't real? It isn't his real name, or did she think it was a completely make believe person the way Peter Pan doesn't exist?

She thought I made him up. Said that the 'name was ridiculous'.

The name is ridiculous.
Just be glad you didn't say "Undertaker".
"Psshh, he can't be real."
Now, if you said "Warrior", not only is that his RING name, it's also his REAL name...

Damn fine point.
To be fair, it didn't end the relationship, but it was all downhill from there.
How dare she.

Also, to be honest, Jericho's facial hair was ridiculous as well.

Yeah it's weird referring to pre-2002 events and whatnot. Technically saying "When he debuted on WWF TV in 1999..." is right, but just weird now that I'm used to WWE.

I don't even type WWF anymore either. It's just WWE no matter when I'm refering to.

No, I still use WWF when I'm talking about stuff up until the time when they "got the F out".

Partially just for purposes of discussion I usually refer to, say, Randy Savage or Bret Hart as having been "WWF Champion." I realize that calling them WWE Champion would be technically correct, as you would be calling them "Champion of that company which is now called WWE," but it still strikes me as wrong.

By saying Randy Savage is a former WWF Champion, you are impling he helped save so sort of endangered animal. Randy Savage doesn't have time for such a womanly pursuit.
Bret Hart does.

You're telling me a man who used to wear outfits that included copious use of streamers and neon colored cowboy hats doesn't have time for womanly pursuits?!

Just type "Load of shit" when discussing WWE.

I've noticed alot of other tv programs still call it WWF when they show someone having a fight or abit of a clash.
