View Full Version : Stables you'd bring back

If you could bring back any stable and put whoever you wanted in them, while using a similiar gimmick, what would you do? It has to be WWE or TNA exclusive wrestlers. if it's nWo it has to be WWE and if it's S.E.X. it has to be TNA, for example.
And what Stable would you create using the guys in WWE or TNA right now in order to create the perfect WWE.

I liked both Team Angles. I really liked the one with Luther Reigns and Mark Jindrak. It's a shame that didn't last too long.

That WAS the Horsemen, without using the Horsemen name
And team Angle, but the version with Haas and Benjamin as WGTT

Yea, Evolution was underrealized. It should have, well, evolved. Late 04 should have seen Orton overthrow Trips as leader.
In 2004, I thought they should have brough back an ECW stable on smackdown, since they had half the originals under contract and most on that show.
The ministry would have/could still be nice to see if it enlisted the proper members and ran smackdown.
DGeneration X would have been nice if after a few months they managed to bring in the outlawas and waltman. But I understand why that couldn't happen.
Mostly, I just miss the prospect of a good stable dominating a show. Part of why the attitude era was so good was the stables. Stables, and even better, stable fueds are key to a show. Stables and stable fueds make the show seem more cohesive. Since a good stable encompasses the whole card by having a leader/main eventer, a tag team, a midcarder and such, it spreads throughout the show. You have stables and the whole show feels united. Its even greater when you have anotehr stable, or a union of faces or heels who seek to dismember the dominant stable.
It was a great time when you had The Corporation legit running the show. But you had the rebellious Austin's crusade against them. He wasn't alone though, he had help from DX and Foley. The cross fueds were outstanding. Then you brought the ministry into the mix and things got really interesting. You then have multiple storyline and angles parrallel and intertwining throughout the show. Fueds crossing over into eachother, stemming from one anotehr, and then there were pawns inbetween.

These days, I'd like to see a new age corporation. I'd like to see Vince and or Shane running Raw with a heel Cena or Orton as his groomed champion. A tag team like MNM, and a couple midcarders, one uppermidcarder IC champ, and a big man to do bidding. Its in many ways a rehash or a 'reimagining' but its been long enough and the concept would be fairly fresh to a show that needs it.

I'd love to see kind of a "Radicalz" like stable again. Nick Dinsmore, Rob Conway, Little Guido and James Gibson just get pissed off with how the WWE is treating them, so they form a new smark-stain stable...

Personally, I'd rather see that radicalz stable be the same idea with TNA. Styles, Daniels, Joe and Shelley. Or something along those lines.

But yeah, In a new york minute I would have these guys back together. Gonna go listen to the Motorhead Evolution theme song right now

Evolution could never work now. Not with all 4 members. Given how big Batista has been pushed, along with Orton. Plus HHH and Flair still there.
Too many chiefs, not enough indians.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing a reformation of The Ministry. Now for the record I don't like the idea of bring back old stables as opposed to making new ones, but I could see Taker winning the belt at Mania, and for people who would begin to making unwelcomed advances towards Taker, Kane would simply come out and unleash hell while Taker over sees it all. Over time have Boogeyman (more focused and less comedic) and Kevin Thorn join. Basically they all pose a physical barrier between anyone who wants to take the title off of Taker, but once they finally earn Undertaker's repsect, he gives them a title match. It works on the level they are all kind of "evil" characters who are obviously unrealistic, and it means Taker only has to do PPV matches while a challenger who works a full schedual can still doing things to build to a fued...

I'd like to see the ministry kidnap meaningless undercarders who've been in destitude on heat or simply sitting at home getting paid. And then turn them into something of meaning again.
Remember when they took Farooq and Bradshaw, and Phineas Godwin and made them matter. Jesus, if Undertaker didn't kidnap Bradshaw and Farooq and turn their pathetic asses into the Acolytes, we would have never gotten the APA, and thus, more importantly JBL. That would have been a crying shame.

Because they suck and can't stay employed if they have to travel?

Say what you want about the outlaws and Xpac, but under the DX banner they were great. If you watched wrestling in 1998 you'd understand how over Waltman and both member of the Outlaws were.

Oh no doubt, back then they were absolute gold. These days however they're pale imitations of themselves and have a very hard time keeping themselves in line.

Yes, but you put them in DX tshirts and get them to get along, at least professionally, with HHH and HBK, and I'd still mark out. Even if it were a rehash, Im only saying it because DX is being done anyways. And we never saw a point in time where all of DX was active.

Actually, Faarooq and Bradshaw were already The Acolytes, initially under the guidance of The Jackyl.

The Triple Threat
IMO I think it'd be the only group that they could do that wouldnt really suck. Make them a heel stable on one of their shows.
Smackdown: Kennedy, MVP, and Gregory Helms
ECW: Chris Benoit, CM Punk, and Elijah Burke
Raw: Edge, Johnny Nitro, and Kenny Dykstra
I think any one of those threesomes would make for a good Triple Threat.

Actually, it only prolonged their careers for a breif amount of time. We know now that the only skills they needed to stay on TV in the long run was knowledge of the word "Damn" and the many different situations its usage could be extended to.

The Heenan Family
If only Heenan could still talk, he could come back and lead a stable to combat John Cena a la his quest for Hogan's title.
They really should have brought back the Million Dollar Corporation.
Let the MDM hire a bunch of Thugs, have a few turns, and bam, Awesome group.

Well the pairing of them in a tag team, that would have floundered if not for being a part of the ministry, is what saved them. From there, they became the APA and that brought decent success for a few years. JBL got an unexpected lease on life by getting the JBL gimmick, but without question that never would have happened if not for the success of the APA, which most importantly kept him with the company and relatively over during years that probably would have seen his release. If those two hadn't been both paired into a tag team and put into the ministry, they'd probably have been released by late 99 or 2000.

The Acoyltes were already over before the Ministry. Had they not joined, they still would have remained a tag team through 1999 and in 2000 they would have odds are had their gimmick changed from big bad asses to big bad asses for hire no matter what.

I kind of like what TNA is dong with Christian, Tomko and Steiner. They need to bring Styles in full-time to add the "Athlete/pure wrestler" to the group and Steiner needs to be more "in" the group and noy so much like a loner.

I like just about everyone in the Natural Born Thrillers. WCW had lot's of good ideas but just fucked up everything. WWE has monumentul potential and lacks creativity. TNA lacks anything Monumental and fucks up everything.

I'd like to see a stable that encompasses two or three of the brands, rarely crossing over. Say Evolution, for example. There would be a Raw branch, a SmackDown branch and maybe even an ECW branch. If Evolution can snare titles on all brands, they would have a dominant hold over the entire WWE, with HHH as the leader and inspiration for all three branches.
Maybe you'd have....
Raw= Orton, Flair, Kenny
SmackDown = Batista, Kennedy, Finlay
ECW = Striker, Cor Von, Holly
and Triple H (by acquiring a "managers license" as an explanation) could be present at all three shows, although maybe he would only be allowed to wrestle on one specific show.

They need to bring back the Nation of Domination just so I can hear their theme music again. But for real, I wouldn't want to see any rehash of any stables, but I do wish the WWE would bring them back. I miss the days of stables.

I doubt anyone will agree but the bWo should come back. To me it was so funny at the time because it mocked everything about WCW and WWF. They were pretty damn funny and hardcore. Stevie Richards, Blue Meanie, Nova. (NOT SIMON DEAN)But I dont think they would be brought back.
When they brought the bWo back for like three weeks in 2005 it was pretty cool though the angle itself and the way they pulled it off was a pile of shit (they actually had them doing a storyline on Velocity for fuck's sake). I was thinking the other day how they should come back.
